I was talking to a cashier the other day and was telling her how great of a job they are doing advertising the ECB program..she said they are trying really hard to educate every customer who comes into the store about it..she said when she first started working there she asked the manager how cvs made any money when they were giving away so much stuff for free..he told her that every ECB given out by CVS is sponsored by the company who makes the product and CVS gets paid back for every ECB that they give out..really just like the register rewards program at walgreens..although much easier to use!

i had read this on the internet prior to this conversation but was not sure if it was true or not..but then while we were talking the manager walked up and said yep..that is how it works..

so dont ever think that cvs is losing money by us shopping there

A manager told me this the other day @ my sisters store in another city. He said he likes the program for this reason but finds it frustrating when people have lots of cards ( not talking 1 for you and hubby and mom, I mean lots!) only take advantage of the frees and wipe the store out for others because the companies are paying to have people try their products. He said he has a group of ladies who travel in a mini van on the day they stock and hit every store along the highway for miles. All the managers call each other and talk about them, know they have multiple cards but there is really nothing they can do. No one else gets any of the deals or can take advantage of the program, or really learn to understand it, and all the manager gets are customers that are mad at him because he doesn't have what is in the ad. He is not losing money, but not creating the business he could, due to the ecb program if these ladies would stop.

Its really too bad that a select few eventually ruin it for everyone else. I cannot imagine having that many cards. I cannot keep the two (hubby's and mine) straight as it is!

edited to add: I'm guessing that is why the limits on the deals are going down...

I figured this long ago that they were being reimbursed for these or provided products from the manufactures. If you haven't noticed a lot of times the same products that are WAGs RR items. Not always but sometimes they rotate weeks.

There are a couple of things he could to about this:
1) Enforce the limit per household stated in the ads
2) Order more of the product

i have read elsewhere someone say they have 16 cards..and they openly admit they wipe whole stores out..

I have an option (3) : Report them to CVS headquarters, and have them verify the cards, then cancel any "extra" cards.
