Can This Work With Overage?

Before I go and try it, I want to make sure it will work and not beep or anything. Let's say I bought $10 worth of "stuff" and a $5 gift card. After tax assuming no tax on the gift card, my total is $15.60, I have $13 in coupons, will it work??

Yes it will work.

It should. You won't get the money in cash. What money you don't use will stay on the Gift Card. Hope this makes sense.

I have done it once BUT if the cashier is really picky and very intuned usually they will not let you pay less than the gift card. If I do it, I usually put the gift card at the front of the order and get other stuff so that by the end of the order they have forgotten I even got the gift card. Is that wrong?

NO I don't think that having them do the GC first is wrong. That is the way I do it! Never have a problem.

Rolling Rolling Rolling..I never thought of rolling overage into gc at WM -I find so much stuff to buy but a great ideal-use gc later to buy the stuff you need.

I would do the gc last as she only has 15.60 total and 13.00 in coupons...

If she did the gc first..wouldn't the coupons put her in the negative...

What would that do?

Isn't she talking about Buying a gift card, not using one? I would do it first, then like the others said, the cashier will have forgotten you even bought it! Sneaky, I'd do it!

Great idea!! And I honestly say (work in Corporate) that, program-wise, there wouldn't be anything in the register system stopping you. Honestly, I think overage is great--WM gets their money back on the c/o. In my book, I wouldn't even call it sneaky. Again..good idea!

so you all get me all hyped up and they didn't have hardly anything for overage. I got 8 packs of the 1.46 huggies and 4 jars of gerber baby food and a $5 card just it case I was off at all. I used 4 $3 CT coupons and 2 $1 gerber coupons....my total....$5.00...I thought there was a glitch kinda thing and I had to pay for the exact cost of the giftcard BUT after thought, no, I just worked out so well that the huggies cancelled out the baby food penny for penny

silly girl...

I've gotten to the point that I will figure out my 'overage' before I go to the store. I've got one of those memories (and I buy pretty brand specific unless I have a GREAT coupon deal) so I can usually remember how much I pay for the reg. things I buy so I figure it together...
