Called in DH's script today at the CVS near my work - transferred from another drug store. Asked the woman who answered specifically if they accepted the RiteAid $30 GC coupon - she said they did. "No problem!" Went to get the script, was running late for a meeting at kids' school but DH HAD to have this stuff TODAY. Went to the drive-through thinking it would save time - WRONG. First cashier - "We can't take this, it says Rite Aid on it." I explained nicely that I had asked about it when I called the script in, and was told not only that they would take that coupon, but they take ALL competitors coupons for scripts. She looks very confused...walks away from the window. She gets another cashier to come to the window who says "We can't take this cuz it won't scan." I calmly (while watching my clock) explained the same to her. "But it won't scan." she says. I say "Maybe you need to key something in..." which I know is the case because I've seen it done umpteen times! "No" she says "If it don't scan, we can't take it. I don't know who you talked to, but it don't scan." (yes, I'm typing her exact words ) I'm fuming now. I told her "Just give me the prescription...I need to go. Thank you."Before I so much as got out of the parking lot, you know who I was dialing on my cell: 1-800-SHOP-CVS ! I told the CSR what had happened, she apologized profusely and told me that not only would SHE be calling that pharmacy to explain to them how to key in the competitor's coupons, but that the REGIONAL PHARMACY MANAGER would be calling me back within 48 hours to offer an apology as well. And they would mail my $30 gift card "so you don't have to be inconvenienced by driving back to the store." She was VERY nice and apologized about 14 times for the other CVS employees not knowing what they were doing. She even said "Did neither of them bother to ask a MANAGER how to do it??" Can you hear someone roll their eyes?? Cuz I'm certain I "heard" her rolling hers! So, guess I'll get my gift card after all. Hoping some coupons to boot! But more importantly - those employees will hopefully be trained for the next customer! < /end rant> |

Good for you! I hate when they argue that they can't do something and you know better.

Wow! Not only did the Regional Pharmacy Manager call my cell when I was on my way home from a meeting tonight, but when I got home - there was also a message from the store! The manager said that they were mailing out my $30 GC to my home. Glad to see they took my concerns seriously.

Yay for you! I love to hear stories of good CS to make up for the cashiers. BTW, Aren't you tired of training cashiers for stores? I know I am! Geez, at Wal-Mart at least 75% of the cashiers are oblivious to their price guarantee. If an item rings up at more than the advertised or shelf-labeled price, you get the item FREE-up to $3 anyway. And only the first item, can't buy them all. So yes, I explain their own policy and then they have to call a CSR to verify. Question-do ALL CVSs take competitors' qs? Or YMMV? Rite Aid has a link on their home page to a $30 RX q. Rite Aid : Pharmacy : Prescription Transfer We are right on the MI border and there are no RA here, but just across the border, wonder if it would work across state lines? Would anyone care to offer their opinion? Last edited by Ramandra; 03-06-2008 at 07:16 PM. Reason: edited to fix link |

I would say it can't hurt to try, Ramandra. Call your local CVS and ask! I think it's a corporate policy, though, from what I was told today. kristie - the RiteAid coupons I have are only for transferred, not new Rx. |

I was able to use a $30 Rite Aid transfer at my CVS. It involved a lot of people shouting across the pharmacy "How I do dis?" and stuff like that, but in the end it worked. They'd only let me use 1 even though I need to do 2 scripts.

| I made a smart remark about how it was because they where losing to much money not having things priced right. And he smartly said back no it's because of to many people trying to screw us! Sounds more like they are trying to screw the customer if they are mispricing things!! |
