Managment being restructured

Guess things are changing at Walgreens. There will still be Store Managers and EXA's but Assistant Managers and Store Team Lead positions are being eliminated. The employees in those positions have the option of going to Shift Lead (a cut in pay), quitting, or taking early retirement. One person I know was already demoted. Should make for a pleasant environment--not.

It's already gone into effect. I heard about it from my ds who works for Wags and had planned on going into management. Course it will take time to implement and some stores will be faster than others. They're calling it the Edison Project. Guess they thought it was a bright idea. I imagine job satisfaction will decrease tremendously and their ratings as a corporation to work for will also go down.

It is true.
Some of us will be taking a huge payout if we take the demotion.
If you guys think that the cusyomer service is bad at Walgreens now, just wait a little longer.
The stores will lose all if their good mgt and be taken over by people who are very much less qualified for handling customer issues and running a store.

Yeah one of the managers in my area was telling me about this a while back. Looks like a cost cutting measure and they threw a "TAG" on it to make it look like some great plan.

Heard the same thing! One store manager said the cashiers no longer need keys to make returns, they said to take tasks away from assistant managers to soon take then off pay roll

Lot of changes going on. More stores will be getting new registers which will be great and a hassle in the beginning stages. Cashiers will be able to handle some of the returns which will certainly save time along the road, at least, the easy returns will. Management is gradually restructuring.

I really feel sorry for the employees and the customers who will be affected with new registers and/or whatnot. It's really going to throw people's game off.

I heard the same thing from my stores BA. Said the asst mgr basically did returns , needing a key and bringing you change. Now that the BA 's can do a return without a key that position is eliminated.

I was told it took effect Monday or Tuesday this week. I was wondering where the EXAs went in our area and the Store Team Lead has said they are going to have 'new' titles with more responsibilities and less pay. They may have to let go some of the AMs as well.

Needless to say, most, if NOT all WAG staff are not happy about these restructuring but they can't do anything about it. They feel corp bigwigs want to keep all the profits up the ladder with no concern for the rank and file employees

Knowing what's going on there, let's brace ourselves for grumpy store staff.

Yes, non "management" can make returns, but there are some restrictions. The return needs to be under $25 and the customer has to have a receipt. Otherwise a Shift Supervisor will still be needed to do the return.

I have all three of the big drugstores in my area (CVS, RA and Wags). Sadly, Wags was already the least of these, for being poorly stocked, and with staff that were not trained on coupon policy (heck, I even had a SM tell me you can't use an MQ on a RR deal or it won't print LOL). I have pretty much given up on Wags, between needing fillers, short life on RRs and just general coupon stress/unfriendliness.

Plus, was Wags the store that no longer accept Express Scripts?? If so, that is going to cost them lots of business as people are forced to take their Rxs elsewhere (and their other purchases as well.) Wonder if this is an attempt to balance that loss by cutting payroll expenses? Not a good solution IMHO. I feel for the employees who are getting squeezed out.

It's too bad because Wags was the first drugstore that I learned to coupon at, and I wish I could still shop there.

Doesnt matter the value or receipt, EVERY time they send me to photo counter for manager. That's very annoying.

regarding returns for those with SRs, I foresee a problem with requiring personal info input to process any return. I witnessed one customer (who seems like she's having a bad day with her actions) who was returning a Revlon hair dryer priced 17.xx on her receipt. She was asked for her NAZ including phone number, which she was not comfortable giving. She asked the STL why she had to give those info when she had a receipt and the STL showed her the touchscreen where it was asking for those info to process the return. She gave her info unwillingly and said she will not shop there anymore.

While I understand asking for NAZ/ph# for returns w/o receipts, asking personal info for legit returns WITH receipts is too much. I hope they do away with this procedure for returns with receipts or else they're just pushing away more and more customers.

Don't think they are going to do away with that procedure because the main reason I would see that being there is to keep cashiers from just doing random refunds. It is a system where they can check on who got the refunds. So thinking it is less up about getting the customers info and more about trying to keep the cashiers from taking money.

Is this why I never see my favorite Wags person anymore? I loved one walgreens I realize for this one person, now I go there its a headache, took me 20 min to do 2 transactions and when the coupon doesn't scan right away they throw up their arms and say well guess this one won't take.

Yes, they're the store that couldn't negotiate a deal with Express Scripts (for whatever reason)... I bet that is the reason they are desperate to cut costs. They never seem to have much in the way of great deals--I used to shop there at least weekly but now it's more like once a month. Sad!

Walgreens is going to get alot worse before it gets better. I am one of the mgt that will be affected. Gonna drop my pay by about $4.50 per hour so I am looking for s new job as we speak. Like I said before, if you think things are bad at wags now, just wait. You will have less qualified and less trained store staff running the stores because all of the good mgt will go elsewhere instead of having to do the same amount of money for $4.50 less per hour. Walgreens is screwing all if their best workers out of a job. Good luck to those who will continue to shop there and good luck getting out of there in a timely manner and with no issues.

My Walgreen's has such friendly workers, well except for the pharmacy. I could be dying and need medication and if they were all that was open well I'm choose death since it would be much more pleasant.

I do feel bad for the people who have worked years for Walgreens with the goal of going into management. That was my ds's plan, but he hasn't been there that long, and with the restructuring is planning on changing his career path. If you want stability, I beginning to think it's military or heathcare.

It's possible the employee sending you over there isn't able to do it yet. I know that at my store, I'm one of only three employees that our manager has "activated" that power for.

Exactly! My husband can't fill his scripts there anymore. They offered us a "savings" card that we would have to pay a small fee for and then receive a small deduction off our scripts. HA! Scripts for free at CVS with insurance or scripts we pay for at Walgreens? No brainer for us.

Which also means we don't shop there for other items.
