:omg2:My Walmart has raised the price on the biggest box of Luvs by $5!!!! It used to be 14.97. I spoke with a manager today and he said that the price increase came from the home office.

I sent off my email to P&G expressing my disappointment with such a big price jump and am awaiting a reply. Anyone having similar issues or know the
scoop?

I too found the same thing in the York, PA area. They went up to $20.97!!! They are now the same price as Huggies and Pampers, only you get about 4 more diapers with the Luvs. I was looking at the Parent's Choice ones. They are about $10.50 for 50-some diapers (size 6). Has anyone expiramented with them?

I was using the parents choice. They are good and inexpensive, but they leak during the night and my son was constantly waking up. also, luvs smell nice and powdery and the parents choice really had no smell. HTH

I'm in Cincinnati (hq of P&G), and heard a lot on the news a few months ago about the price increases coming. P&G had announced a 25% increase to WHOLESALE costs (what the stores pay P&G). I think it was across the board. So, if WM is paying P&G 25% more, they are passing that along to the consumers plus some -- hence a 30+% increase to the actual on-shelf price. If you are seeing it on Luvs, you will see it soon on Pampers, and all the other P&G products.

Some of the raw material suppliers are hitting the consumer products companies with 30% increases on the materials it takes to make the products -- Dow (or Dow Corning -- can't remember) sent out letters saying their raw materials would increase by 25%, and then a month later said it would go up by another additional 20% on top of the first increase (so 45% more).

This is just raw materials -- gas prices to transport the product from the manufacturing facility to stores have increased, utilities are up, and employees still need to see increases because they are getting hit by the economy as well. Everything is increasing.

We (consumer products companies) have been absorbing the costs and either doing less marketing trying to find as many cost savings projects as possible to do so as not to raise prices -- but, when our annual contracts for raw materials run out in December, and we have to sign new price contracts, I can guarantee our prices will have to go up at that point.

The worst is yet to come, I'm afraid to say. Especially for those products that start as petroleum products/byproducts (plastics, etc.)

I have contacted Luvs before telling them they need to make thier tabs stretchy like all the other diapers. They also sent like an automated response but sent me two - $10 off on Mega Packs. I have tried Parent's choice and hate them, every single time my daughter whet pee or poop it would leak out. Since the price increase I will stick with Huggies Supreme or Pampers. Good Luck on finding something that works!

I hate the Pc diapers. your better off using paper towels! I love the luvs. I am so kicking my self because I was sent q's for luvs and I didn't use them because I was stocked up on the walgreens ones from the last major deal they had. Well now I am down to 2 bags and can't use the q's because they experied. It was for $5, $2, $2, and $1.

I used the partent choice diapers on my daughter during the day and then used the expensive diapere during the night. That helped me save money since I only used one name brand diaper a day. I personally did not have any problems with leaks but every child is different. HTH

25% increase?!? That's Huge!

I was never able to use Luvs on any of my 3 - too many leaks. I used Wal-Mart's White Cloud brand or Target's generic. Both worked great. I thought think Wal-Mart's Parent's Choice brand is terrible. They leaked day and night. Now we are stocked up on Walgreen's brand for the next few months. They work pretty well, but are smaller than other brands. I wish I knew when DS will be ready to potty-train so I could stock up now before all the prices go up. He just turned 2, so we might need another year's worth of diapers or (hopefully) I could be done buying them forever!

The biggest box of luvs has always been $20 here! Well atleast since I've been a mom (1 1/2 years) and I thought it was a good deal until I learned how to bargain shop. Now I have 35 packs of diapers and didn't pay more than $10 for them.

I always buy the 40 pack of the size three and use a $2 coupon, which makes them cheaper per diaper than the buying the big boxes. Our WM has the 40 pack for 7.47 and the 120 pack for 20 bucks
