Wow today was my best trip ever. I bought stove top, M & Ms, several trial size products, and some pickles. I thought I had watched closely so that I would not wind up with overage. However as I was helping separate my coupons as she scanned them I noticed that the total had gone down to $1.88 and that I still had 2 $1 off coupons in my hand so I handed her one of them and put the other away. I did not know this was possible. Almost forgot to add I think the cashier thaught I was a nut LOL

Next time that happens you should buy a pack of gum or a candy bar & use the other Q. You would have paid less than $0.88 (assuming the item was less than $1 - more than $0.12) & then had another freebie!

Wow, I'm impressed and jealous. My Target wont let me use any coupons that would give me overage. I was refused a $1 off on a $.99 trial size.

LOL I grabbed the pickles to try and avoid the overage because it had looked to me ahead of time like I might have one. I am pretty lucky I guesse so far our target has been great about the coupons, and they give us face value.

I've had this happen a few times...so before I go to the register, I always pull over in a quiet spot (pharmacy waiting area, dressing rooms, etc) total the stuff in my cart, then total my coupons and subtract the difference. That way I know beforehand if I'm going to have overages, and then I can decide what to do with them.

You really should e-mail Target for their coupon policy then print it out and carry it with you. It very clearly states that if a coupon value is higher than the price of the item they will adjust the coupon. I've never had to use mine, but I keep it in my coupon binder just in case.

here's my 2 cents on overage:

if you has an estimate amount of the overage, i'd suggest you buy a giftcard to offset the negative. no question you cannot go negative, but in this case, you can consume all your coupons, plus it's like saving the overage (in terms of store credit) for your next purchase.

I paid an extra $20 some dollars last night because they caught every coupon (but one!) that had overage. I had a raincheck that a trainer had to do and she went back and looked at everything I bought. Looking back I should have left it all and walked out, but I had pampers coupons that expired yesterday. GRR!!
