I would be really mad too! Why does it matter to them how many coupons you use in one order??? I mean, it's still money to them at the end of the day...

That's wrong. My target is a regular target and they take the Super Target coupons no problem. And they have never limited how many I use. I think it all depends on who you ask.

Yeah this dumb manager always hassles me. And refused to even look at my coupons. She wasn't even my cashier, she walked over to my cashier and said No, we don't take those. And I was trying to explain that I had already asked corporate a few days ago, when I had spoken to them about this VERY rude younger cashier, she wouldn't even let me speak saying that they don't combine target coupons with Manu coupons. ..., and was about to put my coupons away, and I grabbed them, and said No way, Im taking these across town to the other Target that takes them. (which is also a regular Target) So when I got into my car, with kids in tow, I called the corporate number that was with the little $5 dollar gift card they had sent me for the rude young cashier, I explained my situation to the lady from corp. She was totally understanding and nice, then tells me that she's gonna have a supervisor call them and let them know that they are required to take my coupons, well next thing you know she calls me back after speaking to the rude manager, and heard her side, and is a totally different person, kinda snobby and rude, and says that they Can refuse to take so many coupons. Okay I had maybe 6 MP chip Qpons, 6 Ragu Target qpons, 3 $1 off/2 Ragu Qpons, and 2 MP fruit snacks Qpons. THATS IT. Now come on...I didn't get the items free, and am still gonna have to pay some money to them. So...I tried to tell the lady from Corp. this. and like I said...She was really snobby and acted like I showed up trying to use 50 coupons for 5 items. GOSH!!! She then said that they had already sent me a $5 dollar gift card, for the other lady, and that if I wanted her to send me another that she couldn't. MAN I wasnt calling for another gift card, I was calling because I felt that this MANAGER needed to know their own policy. GRRRRRRRR

Huh. My Target takes both manufacturer's and Target coupons, whether they are from Super Target or not. Below is a letter I received awhile back that is linked in my signature: Target Coupons: What's the Problem? So, all across the internet are tales of mothers and fathers who went to their nearest Target and used a Target web coupon and were TURNED DOWN. At first, I couldn't believe it--I work weekends at Target (gotta pay off those student loans!) and I was outraged. I have never been told to not accept a Target coupon and I most certainly have never heard my LOD (Leader on Duty) tell another cashier not to accept them. So, like the eager, nosy consumer I am, I emailed Target and here is the response I received: Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping at Target, and we make it easy to use them at our stores. But because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target: - We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued coupons and manufacturer-issued coupons. - We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it. - We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in that case, we'll adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item. - We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores. - All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier at the time of sale. That is our corporate stance on coupons. But with that said, all store LODs are empowered to accept or decline coupons. Mostly this is done to prevent coupon abuse, and some stores are more strict than others. But because each store is it's own business, we don't get involved in coupon acceptance at the corporate level. Have questions or want more information about using coupons at Target? Check with a Guest Services Team Leader at your local store. You can also give us a call at (800) 440-0680, or visit us on Target.com. Either way, we're here to help! Thanks for your question, Jackie. Sincerely, MatthewTarget Guest Relationswww.target.com

But See if she would have looked closely, the MP Chip coupon doesn't say SUPERTARGET WEB COUPON, is says TARGET WEB COUPON. So therefore she should have taken it. But because I had 6 freaken coupons she said it was too much!! |

Exactly. I don't understand why she wouldn't. It is no loss to her to take the coupon. It doesn't say one coupon per transaction. This is the problem: how corporate doesn't get involved in coupons at their level. Which is ridiculous beyond belief. One Target shouldn't be able to deny a coupon over the Target down the road. I believe there needs to be better training at all levels of Target and when I go to work next weekend, I am going to get the number for employees to call and make complaints.

I had a bad Target experience yesterday, too. I got a young male cashier who, when he scanned the first coupon that was more than the item cost, freaked out and called his LOD. She informed me they could not take coupons for more than the amount of the item. Things escalated to the manager pretty quickly and I ended up leaving the store upset and with my coupons. I was only using 4 of each for 3 items, plus I had 4 target Q for ragu and 4 mfg Q that were .65 for ragu. The manager agreed to take my other coupons for more than the items, but refused to combine the store and mfg Q. I have not had any problem with regular Target taking my Super Target Qs - ever (knock on wood). I did go to another store and used all my coupons with no adjustments and no problems.

I think I'd have to start giving my business to someplace else after all that trouble. Sorry! ![]() Gosh, I pray that doesn't happen to my Target.

| I did the same...It felt great just to be able to go through the line without getting hassled, yet it stunk that I had to drive 10 minutes away, and waste my gas.

i find it rather funny how they can say that corporate target dosen't get involved in coupon acceptable, when THEY are the ones issuing the coupons to start with ! so what, they don't take thier own coupon, thier own coupon that you can even print out on THIER own store, they don't take ? ! ? |

I don't try and argue with them anymore. It just gets me upset. I will pull out my Target coupon policy, and if they still won't budge (I never use more than 2 or 3 like coupons), I abandon the transaction and take my business (and my coupons) elsewhere.

I had trouble at my FAVORITE Target one time last week after going in 3 times earlier in the week with NO Problem! This was for the Target Hershey's candy and Manu. Hershey's candy. I was told on this final trip that I could not use both of the coupons for the candy. I had to either use the $2/2 Target OR the $1/1 Manu coupon. because they say "limit one offer per coupon and Limit one coupon per purchase" We got into the whole "what is a purchase debate" and I asked repeatedly to see a copy of their coupon policy as I knew it said I can use both a Target & Manu coupon together. The store manager refused to go get the policy to show me, she just kept saying that since it says on the coupon "limit blah blah blah" that she wouldnt do both. Funny that she was willing to do the $2/2 Target coupon that she gets NO REIMBURSEMENT FOR but not the $1/1 manu that they get the $$ back + some! I just picked up my coupons and left. I emailed corporate this morning, and hope to receive a response that clarifies this so I can go and rub it in Manager Amy's face! In a very nice sweet way of course! Typically I LOVE this store as they have never been a problem. I now know which cashier to stay away from too! I was so sad, as my favorite cashier was just on the next aisle, but I didn't see her when I got in line! She would have just scanned the stinkin' q's and they would have gone through no problem. The cashier I got wouldn't even try it, she seemed to think that I should not be able to get bags of candy for $.16/bag. I think she was just jealous!

I never had a problem with my coupons at Walmart. So whenever Target refused them I got to Walmart which is just less than a mile away. And I think Walmart has cheaper prices. It's just more convenient to get all my shopping done at Target when I'm already there using Target coupons with manu but if not for the Target qs then might as well shop elsewhere.

Because of zoning laws and restrictions, there are no Walmarts in DC. There is finally a Target opening up in DC, but there are plenty of Target's in the suburban areas. With that said, the nearest Walmart to me is almost a half hour away. D.C. has a law that if you have so many employees, you have to offer benefits and healthcare. Just another reason that I would rather pay more than shop at Walmart.

I think it is a pretty straight forward policy, just not universally followed by stores or couponers. Think of all the people here who have "snuck" by expired or coupons for overage. Then there are the ones who use coupons for items not specified and just "tell" the cashier to hit K1. Stores are free to set limits and that has come about from greedy people who used 200 choxie or 200 baby food coupons. There is no one that can tell me with a straight face that any manufacturer would want you to use that many coupons. Coupons are an incentive to buy products. This type of frenzy will surely lead to stores clamping down hard on what coupons they accept and how many 1 person can use.I love saving money, I enjoy the hunt and the rewards of the savings I get. But a few people will take the stance that they put the coupons out and I am going to use them. You are abusing them if you are buying 200 of anything at a time. Everyone wants the stores to abide by their rules conversly the consumer has a responsibility to also abide by the rules and not try to "sneak" one by unsuspecting cashiers. Why do you think they scrutinize coupons? Because they have been burned and told to watch what they take. Everyone who is sneaking the expireds through, call corporate and if they take them. If they say no will you still take them to your stores and use them because they always have? This sense of entitlement is getting old.

mississippi queen-- I totally agree and get what you are saying. The only flaw Target has (this coming from an employee) is the fact that as a corporation, they set guidelines (like combinine man and Target coupons on one item) but then set a double standard and allow individual Target's set their own guidelines with coupons. Why should one Target be different than the Target down the road? It might have a lot to do with people abusing coupons and one particular store got burned more than another. I believe some stuff that corporate let's individual stores do themselves, like coupons, does a disservice to the customer.
