I tried to price match last night at my local Target with ads from Price Chopper and Walgreens. I am in the test market area for Walgreens, so they advertise all prices to say "with card" and so does price chopper. The lady at the service desk wouldn't price match because both ads said "with card." I just finished looking at the target price match policy online and I don't see anywhere that "with card" is an exclusion ... has anyone else had this problem before or know if it truly is an exclusion? Walmart has never given me grief like that!

that's crazy i price match to Safeway all the time and theirs says 'with club card'. Now we do have a Bi-Mart that you pay for membership to and they won't price match to them so maybe that's the exclusion?

Thanks for the responses ladies! As far as "another cashier," that's another problem I had. I had just finished unloading EVERYTHING out of my shopping cart (which was overflowing as it was) when I told the cashier that I wanted to price match certain items and she said "Oh, we can't price match in the check out lanes ... you have to go to the service desk." What!! I have price matched at least 3 other times at Target and have NEVER had to go to the service desk. So it wasn't even a matter of picking out another cashier since I only had one to choose from at the service desk. Thanks again for your comments! I thought that was really strange about the "with card" deal. I actually emailed corporate so we will see what they have to say.

There is some exclusion about "memberships required". That's what she's basing it on. It's YMMV.

My target will not price match anything that you have to use a card with or if you are to get back rr or ecb.

My Target does not match anything that says with card as well (rewards program), or 2 for $x (bundle pricing)or stores like Big Lots (closeouts). They are very strict and specific on price matching in my neck of the woods at Target. And it does no good to present the policy or call corp. my local store still does what they make up their minds to do. Thats why I shop at a different Target out of town, which is much more customer friendly.

my target (Waterfront, Homestead, Pa) would not price match anything with a card. I'm trying to think who doesn't have a card anymore.

As long as it says with card Target and Walmart in my area will not price match. There policy states that the prices must be available to everyone and the with card notation is basically stating you have to join to get a the special price. You can't just walk in and get that price.

My Target will price match places that say "with card" I have PMed Walgreens and Smiths and never had a problem. I do have to go to customer service though, no big deal.

Ad far as I know it all depends on the store bigger store ate more strict because fall the business they have smaller stores in smaller town the more customer friendly because they want ur business. Also depends on the store if guest services do it or cashier. Target has to do reports for everything so guest services has the system to do the price match. If they don't want to price match then try another day. But remember be nice cause they are dealing with guest all the time.

I think it's funny with the whole card thing becuase even when u go to cvs and they ask u of u have a card and u say no they'll just scan one that they have at the register and give u that price. So technically the price is available to everyone. But as far as the price matching I have to go to the customer service desk for it.

Well at cvs ur probably buying some chips or a haircolor and the most u would get is a couple of dollars off plus they don't price match they are using the card so u can get the price they are offering. With target u buy more expensive items like electronics. U would be getting not just a couple dollars off but, $10,$15,etc.... even up to $100 off depending on the item.
