| No more multiple transactions?
I just recently got started doing Walgreens- I usually hardcore Rite Aid but recently visited my hubby where he is stationed at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX and they have NO Rite Aid . Its ok though, after 2 weeks of Walgreens, I'm hooked. Anyway, back home now and went last night to Walgreens to do a couple transactions. At the register, the cashier just looked at me blankly when I told her I wanted to do 2 transactions and then finally said something about how she's not supposed to do multiple transactions anymore because there was some email from corporate and they had a big meeting about it. Apparently they don't like people turning around and using the RR they just earned (which makes no sense to me). Anyway, she said that she was still doing multiples for now because its a new and people don't know but that I should not expect to be able to do multiples at any store within the next few weeks. The whole thing sounds crazy to me. Business is business. If they aren't clearing the shelves or holding up lines then I don't have any problem with people doing as many transactions as they need. The nearest Walgreens for me is still 15+ minutes away, so without multiple transactions, its almost a waste of a drive for me unless I'm going that way anyway. I thought that it would be an individual store's decision anyway... Anyone else heard anything about this? Since it was a 'corporate' email supposedly.... |

I did multiple transactions just today. I believe it may be a individual store thing.

you might wanna contact your local DM and check policys for this store. Cashier could have just made this up because she is lazy

I really hope this isn't true because I already drive 30 min. one way just to go to a store that allows multiple transactions. The SM even checks me out sometimes and he loves how much I save/spend in his store. He didn't say anything about this a few days ago when he was ringing up my multiples. The only rule is that multiple transactions MUST be done at the beauty counter.

Dunno how they can prevent it. I have about 5 stores in a couple mile radius. I could leave one, go to another and do another transaction. Unless they implement a system like RA or CVS where purchases are tied to a card, I don't know how they can stop anyone from doing that. You could even do one transaction, go to your car, put your items in, go back in and say you forgot something. Perhaps it's just the back-to-back they object to? Again, you could say the second transaction is for a family member or something and you need a separate receipt. Don't ask how I have these excuses at the ready...I drag them out here and there when I get a exasperated sigh-prone cashier.

Well that is just silly. What about the people who are buying stuff on another person's dime, and they need their own receipt? There are those out there who purchase for other people -- family members and care-takers. Dumb. And besides, I usually have a little stash of RR's unless there is absolutely nothing I want and I use them before they expire. I may do multiple transactions, but I normally don't just use the RR I JUST received on the first transaction, to pay for the second. I know some people do, but so what? They are manufacturer's coupons, after all. I personally think it was just the cashier being strange as well; though, to be sure, I'd contact Walgreens DM or call their corporate 800 number too, just to be sure. I am lucky though, there are two Walgreens within only a few blocks of my house, then at least another six that are easy to drive to. If one Walgreens ticks me off, I can just go to another. |

| As a PP stated, business is business ~ especially at small neighborhood locations. Uh - some of the stores I shop @, mgmt knows - I'll check out at Beauty, and in some instances, the SM jokingly got mad at me cuz I didn't give him enough notice to special order something for me whether on sale or FARR - cuz if he doesn't have, he knows, I'll just go to another location that has the inventory. As well if the SM wants you're continual Q-business and if he/she is smart, they'll whip out the next weeks' ad or the week after that and show u what's gonna be on sale and ask you - whaddaya want? |

I seriously doubt that this is anything coming from corporate. I have heard nothing of this and I can only assume that it is a store thing. The problem with that is that if the store manager says no, I really don't think that there is anything that can be done about it. IF and it is a bog IF, Walgreens does cut out multiple transactions and cuts out the RR system in general, they stand to lose alot of money in my opinion. I have no problem doing multiple transactions as long as they are being done at the Cosmetics counter or even the Photo Department depending on how busy it is.

A couple of months ago my favorite store (Very q friendly, Great staff!) got a new manager who made the rule that you could not use a RR earned that day. Multiple transactions were fine as long as you only used a RR if earned before that day. This lasted less then a month and they dropped that rule. Guess they realized that it hurt sales.

None of my stores (like 5 stores) allow multiple transactions involving RRs. If there is no RRs involved (as in getting rrs back) then you can do more than one transaction. I think it is a per store thing (some people are just lucky). But where I am it seems all the stores agree. I have been used to it so I just have to go from one store to another. This really sucked though when I was a caregiver and was trying to buy and do these deals for my clients. I even contacted corporate and had the manager call me and still nope. So I didn't shop at Wags for many months after that. Now I just deal with it. I have never been able to do more than one transaction involving RRs since this program started. ![]() I can understand them not allowing it if it is the same item (since the ad states one per person or transaction or whatever). I mean it wouldn't be fair to others if someone bought every one off the shelf and stood there and held up the line and bought each one doing seperate transactions. I know if I was behind that person I would be mad! 2 transactions is one thing but a whole bunch is a different story. |

There has been a rule for months now at one of my stores that you cannot "loop" transactions....in other words, you can do multiple transactions in a visit, but you cannot do multiple same item transactions.....so, if you wanted 4 razors that each produce a RR, you are out of luck because you can't buy the same item back to back to back

There's one store I shop at that has the same rules as staceybarton1's. Multiple transactions are fine as long as there are NO duplicate items in any of the transactions. However, the 58 other stores w/in a 10 mile radius don't have that rule so they're only an emergency stop when everyone else is out of stock (because they never run out of stuff because they're so difficult )

| Earlier, I went to a location that I normally don't shop at, and on my 2nd transaction - was told I couldn't do it. Fine - I walked ~ I didn't need it that badly. I then proceeded to another another store - and uh, mgmt told me - they didn't care if I did multiple transactions. |

the CL of one store has that policy (I'm not sure if it's still in effect) and I can understand why if it's a FARR item(s) that ppl buy b2b and clear out the shelves because they got there early in 24 hr stores. It is definitely not fair for others but they can do multiple trxn as much as they want but NOT any of the FARR or RR items that they obviously are skirting the 1 RR per offer policy. I'm glad the cashiers have been trained well to say NO to those kind of b2b trxn. I think it is a fair policy; it may be inconvinient for those who want to buy them all but they should also cater to customers who go there to buy some of the advertised RR items.

Next time you go in there, ask her to show you the letter ( bet you there is no letter or email) or contact a manager and ask him/her. May have been just the cashier not wanting to do the multiple transactions. Maybe next time you should check out at the cosmetics counter. I have 3 walgreens here and I go to all 3 and do multiple transactions and always go to the cosmetics counter. |

I used my flex spend card to buy some meds and got a RR back. I was doing a 2nd transaction of items that did not qualify for the flex spend. The cashier TOLD me I could use the RR on the 2nd transaction so I don't think it was a corporate thing or maybe my cashier hadn't got the memo yet..?

Well it should get interesting the week of Thanksgiving with all the RR deals. Will be curious to see how many will get to do multiple transactions with the same item.

I think it was just the cashier who didn't want to deal with multiple transactions. Because I have done a lot of multiple transactions and I have never been told any of that. |

All of the walgreens around my house wont let me do it twice..and thats all 4 of them. I can buy something in two transactions (but not two RR things..even if they are not the same), and am not allowed to use the same RR in the same day like do one at cosmetics and one at photo (even if its later in the day and I come back..if the same cashiers are there, they try their best to stop me). This is why I am so happy I started to go to the wags near my school (about 30 minutes away) and they let me do multiple transactions and use the same RR in the same day. I dont clean shelves or anything, but I like to be able to get four of each thing (two for my family, and two for my parents..like tooth paste or something). I even drive here on days i dont have school like weekends or something because of course they help me with my transactions and get my business through the week so they should get it on the weekends too! if the other WAGS near my house arent being helpful/ doing even one more transaction for me, (and making me feel like they are doing a favor for me, when they are just doing their job) then they obviously do not want my business, so good riddance to them.

It could be something from the district manager-so the cashier might have actually seen/heard of a real email. They may have just said "corporate," if they didn't want to go into an explanation. The fact that rules like this are spotty but consistent makes me think that it wasn't a corporate "decree," but maybe something that they were told they could do to try to stop shelf clearing. If people here and there are having it happen to them, I wouldn't blame it on the cashier. More often than not, you find out later it was the store manager or district manager that told them they had to do things a certain way.

Last week I got 10 of the nyquil/sinex that was rolling. I only did one pair per store. I don't like drawing attention to myself expecially if it rolling. I just go from store to store even tho I know at 5 store I could do back to back trans. If a deal is really good, I stop at the five stores on my way to work at 7am, then stop on my way home at 6pm. |

they could start checking the rr's that are being used. if you give them one that was earned this week already then they will know you already used an rr to get that item.. i do not see this as far-fetched b/c wags is getting so strict about everything all over.. eventually good things do come to an end.
