Does anyone know Walmart's price match policy?

Earlier this week, I tried to price match some split chicken breasts - the ad read Holly Farms but the only split chicken breasts that Walmart carries is Tyson (I double checked with the meat manager). The cashier refused to do a price match saying they had to be the same brand.

I've price matched on a store brand when they did not carry the advertised brand. Should the cashier have taken this one, should I try another store, or did she do what she was supposed to?

I've heard of them substituting the store brand sometimes, but never one brand name substitute for another brand name. I think the cashier was right, you can't sub Tyson for Holly Farms.

I have price comped like if Mejier had their brand of something on sale & sub it for Walmart brand no problem. As far as the Holly Farm & Tyson it has to be the same brand to price comp. At least that the way it works at my Walmart! Hope this helped I do a lot of price comping since Walmart & Riteaid are the only 2 stores in my small town soon to get a Wags!!! I can drive 25 miles to the bigger stores,but as long as I can comp at Walmart then I will.

If Holly Farms is a mfr brand like Tyson's, cashier was correct. Their policy states they will ad match same brand, same size/weight. They also ad match store brands with their own store brand, Great Value.

I don't buy meat at WM but for produce, YES and I do it all the time with Aldi ads.

when Aldi has the 3 # bags of yellow onions for .69, I ad match and buy it there where their reg price is 3.25, IIRC. That is a huge difference but they don't balk when I show them the ad. I do this for all produce marked a lot less at other stores. Just recently, Aldi had avocados for .29, I got them at WM where their price was .99 each.

I make it easy for cashier by bringing the ad so she doesn't have to look for it

I have never tried meat since it seems confusing. But produce I price match all the time with Aldi and other stores in my area.

They only pm like items -- apples for apples. Items need to be the same brand.

I've priced matched meat before. It was chicken legs & thighs. I think they were $0.59 per lb at Wal-Mart and the local grocery store had them for $0.39 per pound. It is hard for some cashiers to figure out what the new price should be, unless it is a 10 lb bag like I was getting, so you might want to have a calculator handy for them to figure out the new price.

My only local options for buying meat are Walmart or Meijer. I have had too many bad experiences with Meijer meat, so I always end up getting it at Walmart. I had no idea they would price match. I'll be doing that every week!

If they price match Aldi then i would think they'd price match Walgreens and Rite Aid, or any store thats close enough to them.


Will walmart or any other big box store (meijer/kroger/kmart) price match a sale item that is 10 for $10 (and be able to get 1 for 1$?

Our WMs do as long as there is an ad to match.

what about distance, like we have a few smaller grocery stores that are two cities away (10-15 minute drive) that has a few good deals a week, they have an ad.
What about the whole "kroger's" card, will they price match the "W/ Card" price?

I don't know why anyone goes to k-mart, our k-mart has everything priced $.30-$.60 higher then meijer and walmart, even their sales are horrible...

Edit: I'm surprised our meijer doesn't PM, mainly because Wal-Mart is right next door (no joke their parking lots are less then 20 feet from each other)

I have used a Target ad to price match at Walmart with no problem (closest Target is an hour away)!!

I was told by a WM manager that their store price matched within a 45 mile radius. This might not be Wal-Mart policy, but store policy.

They also do not match percentages without an actual price in the ad. Example: Walgreens ad states buy one get the other at 50% off. There is no stated price so WM does not match.

Yes they do. I price matched Walgreen's Nivea lip care a few weeks ago and use the coupon so it made it free. If you have any doubts, ask customer service before you check out so you have someone you can call on if the cashier tells you no.

I price matched a Kroger ad requiring the Kroger card with no problem. I had to show them my card.

Thank you Krissy I was just there and they DENIED my Nivea Body Wah coupons! Walgreens was out so they price matched for me and still denied my coupons!
