| Can I use a coupon for a "free" item?
This week there is a deal where you get a free Bear Naked granola when you buy two yogurts. Can I use a coupon for the Bear Naked even though it is "free with the promotion? I know I can do this at Bi-Lo with their meal deals, but what about at Target? |

i wouldn't think so they are cracking down hard. it's like using two coupons on one item - the instore promotion coupon and your MF coupon....it also doesn't look very ethical when you are already getting something for free to use another coupon on top of it!

It is a YMMV situation. IMO it's not any different than using a Target coupon + a Manu coupon together for 1 item (which is allowed). In the end, the manager will have the last word though. Happy shopping

I have always been able to use a coupon even with a free item since the "free" item is a store promo, it is just like using a Target Q with a manu. Q, the store does get reimbursed for manu. Qs used so I don't see why it would be unethical to use it.

I assume you're trying to get overage, but why not save your coupon for a time when you have to pay for the item? JMO

| i just don't see getting MORE money for something you are already getting for free is right. doesn't it state on the coupon that the coupon doesn't hold any cash value now you are turning it into cash for yourself. that is just my opinion - i don't go grocery shopping to make money i do it to get stuff for free. what is your stance on buying one item with a $ off coupon and then using a b1g1 on the second item. you are still buying the item it says - i've been told that it isn't ethical.

It is YMMV, BUT for this specific deal you cannot, I did this yesterday. Because the register automatically takes the granola off after the 3 items (2 yogurt and 1 granola) are scanned the register actually will give an error message that says "You cannot use a coupon on a free item" (I personally saw this message yesterday) I am guessing that because this is Target's promotion is why you cannot. Now you can use one of the .50/1 TQ's with the BOGO for the FREE if you store allows which mine does.
