what's your problem lady ?

i think this lady has it out for me:

last week, i went to Target and made several purchases using a combo on mfc and target issued coupons, the next day i noticed that it had deducted my Target coupon and catorgized my items as a "special package" the cashier rang in the MFC, it showed the MFC on the reciept within the special purchase area, but didn't not really deduct the 1.50 MFC. I took my reciept back to target on my next trip and asked the CSM to explain to me where it took the 1.50 MFC off. She said she saw what i was explaining, but wasn't sure how to refund the 1.50 and that she was going to go ask another CSM. So she walks over to the Photo counter where there are 2 other CSM's and my DH was standing there too, whom she obvioulsy didn't know we were together. A guy CSM comes over and looks over my recipet, he agress with me that it didn't take off the 1.50 mfc, he even took out a piece of paper and pencil and wrote out the math there with me and was about to give me the refund. And then the 1st CSM, a blonde, and the other CSM from the photo come back and she snatches the recipt out of his hand and says well we can give you back more then the refund amount, i said i wasn't asking for the refund amount, i was asking for the amount i gave in coupons toward the purchase that wasn't deducted, or i wanted the coupon back, which i knew they couldn't do. The other lady CSM, starts grabbing and talking rudely how she dosen't understand and how it's not right and how she can't give me anything back. So the 2 CSMs are arguging about what to do. After 20 minutes of this, and the line had now grew to like 15 ppl i said forget it and just left. Also during this converstation i asked how come everytime i use a Target issued coupon i always have a problem and they have to press the K1 button to push the coupon through. The blonde explained to me even if you print them out in the store, if you have multiple of the same coupon that they have the same coupon#, and that the computer recognizes the coupon # and won't allow more then once, cause it's recognized as fraud. I asked" ok, so even if i come to the store and print them out right here in the store, i can't use them cause it's more then 1" she rudely replies, " yes, it's FRAUD !"

then as we are walking away from the counter my DH says to me, " you know she was talking about you with the other lady at the photo center", i say oh yeah what did she say ? he says i'm not sure what all she said all i could her was her telling the other lady about how she had some lady up at the desk bitching about coupons and how the lady at the desk is saying this and that and how I don't understand"

So 2 days ago, i am back at Target, i of course see the lovely blonda CSM as soon as i walk in the door and it's obvious she remembers me. I do all my shopping, get in line and then i see her again. expect this time she goes down a few lanes to an empty register and phones the cashier at my lane. he answers looks over to her and then look directly at me and says " yeah, um, ok" I know she was telling him something about ME. I nicely lay out all my items and match the coupon with it on top of the item so there is not confusion. My 1st purchase a glade coupon with the $4off. He's looking at me, looking at the coupon, looking at the item, looking at the coupon, looking at the item. Scans it in finally and gives me the gift card, i pay cash for the 1st order. then my second order, he is dilligently looking at me, looking at my items,looking at each coupon, inspecting every little thing, (obviouly instruction from her) then there was some Pantene i had a MFC and target, he starts giving me the target coupons back, saying you already have a coupon for this, which i politetly remind him you can combine. I only had maybe 5 things and this took over 10 minutes for him to do, then my last time the J&J soft lotion, he rings in my item, looks over my coupon, and for some reason it woudn't scan, he hands it back says this won't work, i asked can you manually put it in ? " i duuno, let me see" he calls upto to CSM," yeah have so and so ring me" she is a few registers down he picks up" yeah, she has one here she wants to use " which obviouly confirms to me that the 1st call was about me anyways. He then is holding the item up in the air above his head and the coupon up in the air with it while on the phone. He responds to her " yes, its the right item, yes the coupon looks fine, yes it's from the right item" hangs up turns to me and says, "she says i can't"

at this point, i was a lil steamy, this lady obviously has some sort of problem with me. i wasn't doing anything wrong, i wasn't trying to use coupons for something i wasn't buying, i wasn't using like excessive amount of coupons, i didn't even buy 2 of the same item, so i was exceeding any soft of some item limit or anything. I was pretty pissed. Like i was doing something wrong or devious. And it's not like the kid was doing this cause he didn't know what to do, he was clearly following her directions.

i just wanna know, what's your problem lady ?

Holy Cow, I agree I would NOT be very calm. I would have asked for the CSM to come to my line and explain directly TO ME, not the cashier, why I could not use this coupon!!!!!!!!! Man I am mad right now about it...

WTH? Oh! Just reading this has made me angry! I would have also called the CSM over to my line and demanded an explination as to why I could not use my coupons!

That's horrible. I am sorry you were treated this way. No one deserves that. I would've left that store & never turned back. I would definitely report them.

Shanna....reading your letter pi*&%d me off. I could just imagine if I was you. This is what you should do, write a letter to corporate and when they respond to you, I would print that letter and take it with me to Target. But first, I would print up multiple (TONS) of coupons that YOU PLAN on using. Maybe 30 or more (LOL) and then when you go shopping, after you have EVERYTHING in your cart, set it aside...ask to see "what's her name". You'll know it, since your writing a letter. Then after she comes to assist you, tell her you want HER to check you out personally and then let her see the cart of items. When she sees all the coupons, she'll give you a hard time, but then you'll whip out out the letter and P*& HER off and then you'll get the last laugh.

Does this make sense? I know what I want to say, but not sure if I explained it correctly.

Shanna, I feel really bad for you too but I am telling you from my experience Target is playing hard ball. When you shop in their store it is unfortunately their rules that we have to play by and on any given day they change the rules to suit them. I had security come to the line I was in and basically try to intimidate me into submission. I have only been back once since that incident and I believe on any given day the same thing could happen at Walmart or any other store for that matter.

I am so sorry you all have been having problems at target, my target rocks! I go there atleast once a week to shop and use 30 -50 coups at a time and they have always been more than accomondating! although my DH says that if I continue to use that many coups on a regular basis they are going to put my picture up on the front door with a reward for my capture! Also he refuses to return anything for me because he does not want anyone to know "that he is married to the crazy coupon lady"!!!! LOL good luck!

From the OP, you originally had problems figuring out whether the coupon was taken off . . .

My 2 cents about the receipt--if it printed the coupon value on there, it took it off in the total. I have double-checked their crazy receipts many times, and if it's on there in black and white, then you got the value of your coupon! No worries!

Now, the rest of it is complet c*** and I agree with PP's--write corporate!!!

after reading your story I feel very fortunate that I have wonderful target stores that i shop at.....and i totally felt for that poor cashier kid.....that sucks...apparently that chick should not be working in customer service in any way shape or form...I love somebody's comment about insisting that she check you out with a cart full of stuff and coupons....

I did get busted the week for the rule about limiting the number of the item purchased to a reasonable family amount.... apparently 15 travel size tylonel bottles is considered slightly excessive...

I did however win when I politely pointed out each bottle contained only 8 pills. So that is only 120 total. If one person took 2 every 6 hours... that 120 was only a ten day supply. The manager kind of chuckled and was like I think that is reasonable. Let her do it...

Needless to say I was delighted..

I agree with PP about the receipts: it looks like it didn't come off, but if you use a calculator, you will find that it does actually subtract correctly.

I can't believe they were so rude to you! What a bunch of jerks!!

If something like that ever happens again simply tell a team member that you want to speak to the L.O.D . If there is truly no fraud involved they will override any unporfessional decision that a "csm" makes. Also If you would like to shop there regularly with alot of coupons and are not breaking any rules then all you have to do is walk in and go to the service desk , Ask to speak to the lod and only the lod. Inform the lod that you have been given some trouble in the past about useing coupons , show him/her the coupon policy and tell them that you have numerous coupons and that nothing you are doing will be breaking the policy. You will not be bothered that day. Then do it a few more times and eventually no one will bother you. Another thing you can do is whip out your cell phone and call the guest relations number right at the register and explain to them whats going on and that you want the situation resolved now so you can pay for you stuff. If you are doing nothing wrong then they will call the store immediatley and inform the lod of the situation and you will go home happy. I promise , Trust me.

If this were me, I would seek out the woman that is targeting you. I would go right up to her and simply say "I will be using a large number of coupons today and I notice that you feel the need to call the cashier to validate them. So how about today you just ring me up and cut out the middle man?" She will know that you mean business and have nothing to hide.

I am really not trying to sound rude, but that seems a little ridiculous. I say that because it is completely contradictory to what Target's Coupon Policy (e-mailed to me and other's from Corporate) says.

I feel the exact same way as the other ladies. Report them. I have had problems with using coupons at Wal-Mart lately. Sometimes I ask myself is it worth it. I believe these people are jealous of our coupons and want them for themselves.LOL!!

I have yet to see a Target coupon that states it cannot be used with a manufacturer's coupon. I'll eat my words if I'm wrong, but no coupon I've ever printed nor had sent to me in mailers ever said "Do Not Combine With Manufacturer's Coupon". That would be like telling us we couldn't use a coupon if the item was on sale! Ok, not really, but still wrong!

What Target coupon has ever stated that it can not be combined with a manuf. coupon ? I have never seen this. I close the store 6 times a month for four years. I alway check out the coupons at the end of the night and I have dealt with hundreds of coupon related issues and I have never seen a Target coupon that says that.

maybe she mis-stated what she thought she was thinking...

maybe she meant a lot of MFC state "can not be combined with any other coupon"

which makes me wonder, does that statement apply to store coupons ? even all the granola bar coupons, betty crocker fruit snacks, and toaster strudle coupons you print from online state cleary on them, "can not be combined" Yet my Target has allowed me to combine the MFC and Target on those, even though it clearly states right on it not to.

personally think this statment is intended to apply to using 2 MFCs together, not when combining a MFC and Target coupon.

dosen't a store have the right to accept thier own coupon and a MFC ?

My Target lets me use my coupons that way.
Basically they decided to let people combine the store coupon with a MFC that states that it can't be combined to make the customer shop at their store instead of any other. I don't know if it's a Target policy or not, but I find it very nice of them to let us do that.
