Check the school supplies aisle at HT! My store has had lots of clearance goodies for a few weeks now. Crayola colored pencils and Color Wonder sets at 70% off. I have also found thumb tacks for $0.30, composition books for $0.70, and many types of pens for less than $1 per pack. Post-It notes were also marked down, $0.95 each).

I was so excited about the Staples deals. I worked out a scenerio to get 1 HP ink cartridge, the 10 $.1 folders, 2 pks. $.1 pencils & 2 reams paper for about $4.99/ea ($.1 after rebate) & use the $5 coupon plus my $18 rewards rebate check & only pay around $4 oop. (Plus get the rebate later for the paper). Then I read the fine print on the coupon "not valid on HP ink or toner". Grrr...Why only HP ink? Blows my good deal.

Walmart had notebooks for .15 each, both wide ruled and college. They also had rulers for .50 each. Composition books for .25 each.

I worked out a scenario with the $5 coupon where I can make money. I have 2 $1.00/2 Bic Q's from last year EXP 9/30/10 cant remember which supplement I got them from.

Here is my scenario:
Buy 4 Bic atlantis 4pk pens @ $1 ea = $4.00
Buy 1 photo supreme paper 50 pk @ $14.99
Buy 2 Reams of paper @$4.99 ea = $9.98
Buy another $1 item
buy 3 $0.01 items = $0.03

Total = $30.00

minus $5/30
minus 2- $1/2 bic Qs

Total OOP = $23.00

Rebates:
Paper 2@$4.98 = $9.96
Photo paper = $13.99

Submit your rebate online and save the stamps and it becomes a $0.95 MM

Thanks for letting us know about the cheapies at staples. Just an FYI, last August CVS had AWESOME freebies!! I am looking out for those sales again. I still have a big box filled, but still need to touch some things up!

Target has started to put their stuff out too ... can't wait for the clearanced packages of notebooks and cheap watercolors! Grandma went crazy with crayons last year, so we are still using those up - I think she thought quarter crayons only happen once in a lifetime or something ...

I know I've read where some people got their binders (for coupons) during back to school sales. What is a good deal on those? I assume it's 3"-4" binders? Where did you get yours? Did you wait for clearance? I'm super broke but would like to start working on a binder, I have 3 coupon pocket files right now and I get annoyed looking for coupons. Thanks

You know, I laughed when I saw this because when I saw this thread, I said out loud (quite by accident, like a "did I say that out loud" moment) "crayons for a quarter???!!!" Before I started couponing I would have never believed it. I thought getting them for a dollar was good. Thanks, everyone for posting this!!!
