| CVS help NEEDED!!!
I went to CVS and did pretty good. Got the $20 ECB deal Got the Booster drink deal Got the hearing aid bateries deal Got the Aquafresh toothpaste deal 2x Used
Had $11.50 in manufacturers coupons Total Oop: $17.31 Total BEFORE deals: $51+ ECB Received: $20, $2, $5.98 B]Here is where I need help![/b] When finished and the transaction finalized. I asked could I buy a CVS gift card with the ECB for $27 and I was buying 2 bars of candy, too. The clerk (newbie???) didn't think so, but she tried. It didn't work so she said she'd ask the manager. She paged him, loud 'n clear, Security code E (???) to the front, Security Code E to the front. He came and she explained what I wanted, he said NO you can't buy a gift card with ECB. I said that is o.k. I can still use the paper version, but it would have been more convenient if it was on the card. Question: What did I do wrong OR is it YMMV?

You can never use your ECB to buy a GC becoz that would mean getting cash back. However, there are ways around it. It's all explained here: http://www.afullcup.com/upload/cvs/2...-gc-101-a.html enjoy!! |

Granny, What you asked them to do is directly against CVS corporate policy. ECB's are not allowed to be used to buy GC, only restricted product (no prescriptions, tobacco, etc). At least, not directly....... That being said, it is detailed in the "CVS - Converting ECB to GC" sticky thread at the top of the forum how it must be done. A basic overview is that you use the ECB & $/$$ coupons to cover the stuff you are actually buying. You would also have mfr coupons on the stuff you are buying. The title is actually somewhat misleading because it is the mfr coupons that you are converting into a GC. You want to give them the $/$$ first while the total value is still there, then the ECB's while the register value of product is still there. After that, you give them the mfr coupons which covers the cost of the GC. All this must be done with an eye toward keeping the proper item count so the register doesn't beep and require manager intervention/manual overrides which can bring attention to the fact that you are getting a GC when you aren't supposed to be. If you reread the "Converting ECB to GC" sticky thread & the one detailing item count with this overview in mind, perhaps it will make more sense to you. Good Luck! |
