Target Newbie Silly Question...

Okay so I plan on going to target to get the $1/2 for Gerber food. Does Gerber not have just the jars or something? When I go in there, what am I looking for so I can get the cheapest deal? Sorry, I'm new at this and my son isn't due until September-ish, so I've never had to buy baby food before, thank you for any help you can give!!! Take care<3

MY Target has single jars for .52, and right now there are 2 packs of the plastic rectangles on sale for .88. There were also some assorted varieties of 2 packs on clearance for .84..mine had Hawaiian Delight and Vanilla Yogurt.

Check for long ex dates on the packages and yes, I would buy a variety.

we bought a variety of the jars -- my super target had them for 49 cents - so they were all free -- my son in 3 months so it will still be a few months before he needs them

Definitely buy a variety - you'll want him to try different tastes.

Be sure to watch the expiration dates, especially on the clearanced foods. The clearance ones near me had very close or past dates (I was surprised to see past dates including a Jan 07).

One Target near me only has the 2 pack plastic containers; a different Target has the small jars (which makes them free with coupon). It's still a good deal buying the 2 packs (makes them 0.38 for a two pack after coupon).

Baby

I too am not due until Sept with my son, but I have started to stock pile baby food. It started when my aunt gave me a few packs she had left from her daughter who is done. Anyway... I just have made sure that the earliest expiration dates I have bought are March, since sometimes doctors recommend to wait until 6months to start baby food. My stock pile is up to 65 little tubs (some 1st foods, some 2nd).

Also, none of the targets around me that I have found carry just the single jars, but I figure getting $.50 off a 2pk is better than having to pay full price for them!

Hope this helps, happy Shopping!!!

You might make sure you get some plain veggies and fruits (vs. just dinners), since you'll probably want to start with the no meats and no dairy (i.e. mac-n-cheese), since meats are hard on a digestive system just getting used to solids, and many babies have a slight dairy allergy for the months/year of their life.
