| I guess I need the target letter-todays trip
Okay so I got some of my pampers coupons in the mail and wanted to go use them while the sale was still on. I got 4 packages of diapers, 4 boxes of wipes, 20 baby food jars, a free soap and 2 apple juices. I went to a register that is closer to the front of the store and the front end manager was walking around ... anyways the girl started to do the coupons and the very first one.. the apple juice didn't go thru.. she hit the button because she knew she rang it up.. the 2nd apple juice did the same thing and the manu. soap coupon too. she knew they were all there so she just pressed enter or whatever they do. Then she started doin the gerber food ones and they were going thru no problem. well the manager walked over to help with a bag that was left to go in my cart and the cashier says I don';t know why some coupons don't go thru when i know they are in there. She is basically just making conversation. Well the manager sees all the coupons and walks over to look at them and tells me I can't use them all. I am suppose to use only one per transaction. I told her that I called the day before to make sure there was no limit. She says well there is a limit of 1. She immediatly calls the security guard over. I wanted to LMBO.. I mean did I look threatneing? Whats he gonna do. He looks at the coupon and reads where it says limit one per offer and says that means one per transaction. I tell them both at that point again that I had called to make sure and that there was also a letter form corporate out saying the policy on coupons and limits wasn't it. So the security guard stays and the front end manager goes to call the store manager. While she is gone the security guard says you could split them into seperate transactions to do it. Then the manager comes back and tells me the store manager agreed one per transaction but he/she would let me do it this time. The rest of the coupons went through no problem at all. Total before coupons $60 and after $23 It kinda pissed me off. I so would have let them ring it all seperately! So anyways, anyone want to forward me that email? I will take it next time I need to shop. I was even thinking about faxing it to the store manager. haha How does a store manager not know the policy? I am sure they do. Oh I for got too.. her first thing about the baby food was that it wasn't pictured on the coupon. I told her it says gerber foods not what is on the picture. So then she said there was a limit. It makes me think for whatever reason she just didn't want to let me do anything.. I don't know why she would care. |

Walgreens tried the whole "it's not in the picture thing"....and I said well...they'd need a whole sheet of paper to fit all the products...it says "ANY XX product" <---forget which brand it was-OH it was the Intuition razor! That's right! sooo anyway.....as far as the wording: did it say per OFFER or per TRANSACTION or PER PURCHASE, or per CUSTOMER??? These are ALL different things. Without a doubt.

Its the target coupons we print so it says "limit one offer or item per coupon" which I take to mean fulfill what coupon says. It says $1 off two gerber foods.. So dumb. i decided to send an email to Target myself and see what I get back. |

| I wonder what the Target Security protocol is. I've also had this happen where they immediately call over their rent a cop when they think you are using too many coupons. There must be something written in their policy about coupon abuse. So, while they stand there arguing about legitimate coupons, someone is walking out the door with a new TV...yikes! We are such pariahs! LOL |

I still don't understand why they call security. What do they think you're going to do? Bop the cashier or manager over the head with your coupon holder cause they won't take your coupons??? Although from what I've read, some of you ladies have coupon holders heavy enough to be considered deadly weapons! |

Diana I love that you said rent a cop. I mean that is what he is except not so much the cop part. I mean they don't have guns or anything..LOL I could be a security guard..LOL So you have had this happen before and you keep using them anyways? I guess I wasn't sure if I should keep trying to not, depending on my response form target I guess. LOL Faith! |

They did the same thing to me at Target. It took them 1.5hrs to void my order, then re-ring everything in separate transactions. 20pks of diapers and 20pks of wipes. They even did separate transactions for my Gentle naturals soaps that I had coupons for

I am feeling EVER so slightly better that I am not the only one that this happened to. They called the rent a cop/ "DIRTY HARRY" on me as well. It is sickening. Obviously they are being given seminars on this crap daily as it seems to be happening all over the country.

Jenifire OMG!, it would just be easier on everyone if they would just do one big order. Wal-Mart tried to tell me that I couldn't use 10 of the same coupons in one transaction because they would lose too much money, but if I wanted to do 10 seperate orders it would be OK. I haven't had this problem at Target yet. |

I think they have the security guard comes over to "scare us" into thinking what we are doing is wrong (using all the coupons) even though we know it is right. I had a problem like yours Jenifire and they effentially let me ring them all up at one. I didn't care if it was separate or all together. I was getting my items. No security guard ever came over...I'm sure he was busy with a real crook.

here is my copy of the email i got Dear I'm sorry for whatever inconvenience you may have been caused. Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping at Target, and we make it easy to use them at our stores. But because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target: -We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued coupons and manufacturer-issued coupons. -We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it. -We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in that case, we'll adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item. -We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores. -Target empowers the store to limit the number of items a guest buys with coupons. We reserve the right to limit purchases to reasonable family-size quantities. All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier at the time of sale. Have questions or want more information about using coupons at Target? Check with a Guest Services Team Leader at your local store. You can also give us a call at (800) 440-0680, or visit us on Target.com. Either way, we're here to help! Thanks for shopping with us. We'll see you again soon at Target. Sincerely, Leah Target Guest Relations |

I was at Target Saturday. I was using 3 Target B1G1 Pepsi coupons, 3 Market Pantry water coupons, and 3 Archer Farm cookie coupons. The cashier said "they" just said that the "rules" changed from corporate "yesterday" and I could only use one internet coupon for each product. (one Pepsi coupon, one cookie, one water) I remained pleasant and the cashier "let me' do it "just this once". I wrote corporate. Hopefully, I will get a response today.

I would say that this is the part that is allowing managers to cause problems: Quote:
Sorry you had a bad experience. |

So, they can limit mfr coups (if not from their flyer, mailer, or website) even though that's a stupid loss of money to them, but they can't limit Target store coupons in areas with bait & switch laws that prevent that unless you're a known dealer/reseller. Most stores know dealer/resellers because they want to be known in that they file a sales tax exemption with the store. |

momof4- I just got the reply from Target. Of course, there is no policy change. But, I do now have a copy of the policy written to me and dated. I will print off a copy and carry it with me. Interestingly, they said they would send two $3 Target coupons in the mail. Yay!! Momof4 I forwarded a copy to you. The only statement I could have wished for was "yes, of course you could have used three coupons". I do not want anyone to think I was trying to use 30 like coupons. But I am happy.

I just wanted to mention that I got that email after they didn't allow me to buy 28 jars of baby food -- which i consider to be a reasonable family amount 9 days worth for an older baby -- they only let me buy 8 jars - ummm i am not driving that far with an infant to buy only 8 jars, DUH!! ONLY 4 COUPONS WERE ALLOWED of any internet type

Eight jars isn't a lot! What's wrong with them? I have twins so does that mean I get to buy 16 jars at a time?!?! It's ridiculous on their part! |

ok i'm new here too but let me ask this, how do you find out if your state has the item limit laws , i live in virginia and was wondering this?

I guess you just have to go in and try coz some limit laws depends on the store itself or the manager itself..
