I went to RA today. I needed about $8.00 to finish the Healthy Heart Rebate. This is what I was going to do: Natures Bounty bogo 2@ 9.99 Proantinox 6.99 Monkey Butt powder 3.99 = 20.97 less 2 - $5.00 coupons for Natures Bounty $5.00 off $20.00 purchase total out of pocket = $5.97 then qualify for 6.00 proantinox R, 3.00 monkey butt R, and the 25.00 healthy heart gift card The manager on duty was checking me out and would not let me use both of the natures bounty coupons. She said you can not use a coupon on an item that is free. I asked her to see a copy of the coupon policy. It said up to 2 coupons can be used on a bogo sale as long as it does not exceed the price of the items. She said because the 2nd item is free - the coupon exceeds the price and can not be used. I told her to cancel the order. I would e-mail customer service but I have not had any luck ever getting a response from them other than the automated "we recieved your e-mail and are working on it" So I called the 800#. Kyle verified that YOU CAN USE 2 COUPONS as long as they do not go over the amount of the one being purchased. So 1 coupon would be 5.00 and the other would be marked to 4.99. He is going to pass this along to my stores upper management so they can review it and get back with me. |

I think you can also try to get a hold of the district manager and complain. Some people have the 800 number on their phone so they can call and get things solved right there at checkout. It sucks when you spend time shopping, getting your items ready only to have to cancel the order and leave empty handed when you were doing nothing wrong. ![]() Hopefully they train the manager of that store better! |

I had the same thing happen to me at the end of January. I was buying Nature's Bounty. I had 4 that were $9.99 each, on sale bogo, and I had 4 $5 off coupons. They said that I could only use 2 of them. I was told that if I had a store coupon to stack with them, I would be able to use 2 of them as well, but nothing more.... I told the cashier that I was pretty sure that that wasn't what the Rite Aid coupon policy stated, so she called over the shift manager. She told me that I could use 1 coupon per item but I couldn't have any overage. I asked for her to adjust the coupon(s) down or to adjust the price of the item(s) up and she said that there was no way for them to do that. I went ahead and bought the items because it was a Saturday and the bogo sale was over that day, but I asked when the store manager would be in and confirmed that I would be able to return the items if we couldn't get this worked out. As soon as I got home, I called the 800 number for Rite Aid. I spoke to a woman that assured me that I should be able to use 1 manufactures and 1 store coupon per item, even in the case of a bogo sale. She also told me that the store should adjust down any coupon that was for more than the item(s) I was buying. The store was contacted and told that they were wrong. The store called me and I was told I could come in and get a refund for my denied coupons at any time, as long as I brought my receipt. I was happy to have helped educate the store about their policy. Sunday I got the same story again though.... you can only use 1 coupon per 2 bogo items. I told the cashier that I wasn't trying to be rude but I wanted to let him know that that isn't what the Rite Aid coupon policy states. He of course told me that I was wrong. I wasn't buying any bogo items, so it didn't really matter. He was just telling me about how the coupons work because I asked about using multiple $$/$$ coupons in 1 transaction. I went in yesterday and today and bought bogo Nature's Bounty with 1 coupon each and I had no problem at all. I think that my store gives me a different story every time I'm in there. Good luck with you're store! |

So, the point is that on a $9.99 vitamin you can not use two $5 coupons. (This is what I was told about a week ago on the phone. Although I've done it numerous times.) But they said you can certainly use a $5 and a $3 coupon together on a $8.49 BOGO vitamin and only pay $0.49. |

This happened to me for the first time Tuesday. I called Customer Service and they essentially boiled it down to YMMV! The lady I talked to was confused herself on the issue-- I asked her to send me a copy of the coupon policy she was looking at (to compare it to mine, though I'm 90% sure they're the same). It's up to the individual store to interpret. She also stated they've been getting a lot of calls about this issue. Today, I got to use both NB qs on 2 bottles with no problem! Frankly, I was more concerned about the poor service I received from the person on Tuesday re: coupons. Quote from the shift manager, in a snarky voice: "We can't give you anything for free." Oh yeah? |

I have been having alot of trouble using coupons at RA. The cashier told me that they were getting a crack down for people using coupons at the store. I dont understand it b/c RA is shooting out the coupons but they dont want to let us use them. They have lots of clearance items........so what does that tell them! |

I had a problem yesterday and I have been up all night thinking about it. Mt first order was was 14 and some change and that was more than I was expecting. But I paid it b/c 10 of that 14 was on a gift card, so $4 dollars. When I got home I realized that one coupon for the free bodywash was missing so that was $4.99 right there, but what do I go back in the store and say? Then after my 1st transaction I go back in with all Natures Bounty and she tells me that I can only use one coupon per two bottles of vitiamins. One period no rite aid coupon and a Manufactuers coupon. She also said I could only get 2 deals per day, and there is no limit in the ad. Than the shift supervisor asked me if I was the woman trying to do this in another town? I didn't get anything that order because this is a differnt rite aid but not the closest to me. I'm just left with a bad feeling instead of the usual wonderful coupon getting things for free feeling. |

Update: I went back to RA because I had bought a clearance Wet n Wild nailpolish that didn't ring up @ 75% off to get the adjustment. The other store manager was working & said she was just about to call me. She asked if I had brought my coupons with me & I said yes. She said she will take them & that the other manager was wrong. So I got my 2 natures balance, proantinox, & monkey butt powder & got the deal I wanted! yea |

I was told by customer service twice (once a month ago and once a few days ago) that they should adjust it down. The second time I was told that they should adjust the price of the item up if they don't know how to adjust the coupon down. Both women agreed that coupons should not be denied Last edited by gravyqueen; 03-05-2010 at 08:26 AM. Reason: spelling error |

if it's the one for the coupon, it would probably depend how friendly the manager is to trust you that you had a coupon and give you the money back. I would get back there ASAP since maybe they can still pull up the coupon. |

Another update regarding BOGO & coupons: Tried another RiteAid today. Had to buy Mucinex and Tylenol, and attempted to do a little SCR with the RA glucose tablets and overage with the Natures Bounty BOGO. After the cashier rung me out with my coupons, the total came a little over $12. She didn't even tell me what she was doing-- she just made a face at the total and wandered to the back. No beeps from the register or anything. The assistant manager came to inform me she had no problem with my 5/20, Mucinex VV, or Tylenol MFQ. Problem arose when I tried to use the NB qs. She didn't explain clearly (and I didn't ask for clarification, since I wasn't feeling well to begin with!), but she politely stated that they can only take 1 MQ and 1 Wellness q per one item transaction TOTAL. Even though I had 1 of each coupon per item, they will only accept 1 of each coupon for 1 bottle, and no more qs for multiple items. I asked her to remove the vitamins from my purchase then (didn't feel like dealing with it at this point, and I was really just looking for q overage like CVS will give me for BOGO deals). I'm still not sure this is right, and I'm beginning to think RA isn't worth the hassle. It's still YMMV, as the day previous my mother got to use multiples for overage at another store in the area, and the store manager happily took all coupons, so long as they matched the items. I may be reading the policy wrong, and I may be loopy from my head cold, but it still isn't making sense to me. They're getting the money back from the manufacturers, right? I can't imagine coupons are causing them to lose money, but the spotty handling of this vague policy is definitely losing them customers. I can accept being wrong on the policy (so long as they're polite about it), but I'm getting mixed signals everytime I go to shop this week! |

I'm really upset.. I'm starting to think shopping at RA just isn't worth the hassle. Most of the time I go into CVS and Walgreens I can check in and out stress free with no or little problems. It seems like RA just isn't coupon friendly I went to 2 RiteAids today, I had a problem using 2 coupons on the BOGO NatureBounty sale at both stores. I also had the VV Nature's Bounty coupons. When the one store said I couldn't use 2 coupons on a BOGO sale, I said well ok I can still use the RiteAid coupons and they told me the Rite Aid coupon was a MFQ coupon! I tried explaining that the VV Rite Aid coupon has RA at the beginning and not a 5 and it's not like I could use the VV coupons at CVS. I even asked if they send the VV back to Nature'sBounty to get reimbursed or what. This got me so angry that the manager insisted the the Rite Aid VV coupons were mfq coupons..either he was clueless or though I didn't know the difference between the coupons. He saw me looking at his name tag and said I can call up on him he doesn't care since he is the manager. I just said I'm not looking for drama or trouble, but if I have to call so he knows he was wrong for not letting me use the coupons I will. I just left the items there. Then I tried another RiteAid and the cashier tried to say my Nature Bounty coupons were fake! Then she said I couldn't use 2 on a BOGO sale, but the manager at this one did agree I could. when they got to the VV coupons I was told I could only use 1. The cashier yelled "no way I'm taking all these coupons, I'm going to get fired".. so I told her the coupon policy says it's ok to use a mfq and a RiteAid coupon together. I asked her for her name and told her I was going to call their district manager to complain about not being able to use the VV coupons and that she also accused me of using fake coupons. I said I shop at RA alot and plan to continue to do so and that I wouldn't risk that or embarrass myself by using fake coupons in a store I go into often. I wasn't even getting overage, most the vitamins I was buying were in the $12-$15 range, so I feel I was using the coupons properly. I bought my items there since it was the last day of the sale. I'm definitely going to call corporate on both of these RiteAids. I'm hoping I at least get an apology from them and maybe they'll offer to let me come back and use my coupons. thanks for letting me vent! Last edited by hailove; 03-06-2010 at 08:54 PM. |

Hailove - It is so fustrating when the management of the RA doesn't know their own policy. It is to the point of me thinking about switching to Walgreens or CVS for awhile. I spend alot of money at 2 different RA and yet they scrutinize all my legitimate coupons. They get reimbursed from the manufacture for them. Do they not want my business? Another thing that is fustrating - I am not in one of the test areas for the wellness coupons but they were accepting them from me from the start then all of a sudden stopped. Told me when it becomes national they will take them. OK. But then the next week I go in and they said they will take them if they scan. Luckily I had a few with me and used them. The next week they said they couldn't take them because they don't get reimbursed for them and the store is losing money on them????? (I used them for a couple months & now they realized they don't get reimbursed!) That week I put back over $100.00 worth of products because they wouldn't take about $20.00 of wellness coupons. Sure I wanted those deals but it is the store that lost out. Too bad they don't see that. |

RA's coupon policy does state that you can use 2 manu Qs on a BOGO sale, and that you can stack a RA Q with a manu Q, but it also states that the total value of coupons redeemed for the BOGO item cannot exceed the cost of the item purchased in the BOGO transaction. That means no overage. I suspect that a lot of RA stores are cracking down on the NB Qs because they've been hit A LOT since the beginning of January with customers using 2 NB $5 Qs and 2 V V Qs to purchase a $4.99 vitamin BOGO thus receiving $7 overage. Overage is against RAs coupon policy and isn't really a YMMV situation. The stores and cashiers that allow $7 overage are messing up and their SMs and DMs are finally catching up on it. Therefore, NB BOGO transactions are being scrutinized more closely. In reality, the only legit overage you can get at RA is when you use a coupon on a FREE AFTER REBATE (FAR) purchase. The overage is the amount of the coupon tendered on the FAR item. |

Hi, I really feel for you guys I also have had many problems with riteaid in the past, but it was always using the 5/20 coupons that they wanted to use after all other coupons. My sujection would be to complain to corporate and make sure to use names. That is what I did and I had the manager call me and apologize and ever since they do what ever I want |

It is nice to know the policy. Thanks for bringing this up. I have had problems at the Rite aid here on this side of town. I have had BAD CS not just with coupons... SO after the 5th BAD exp I sent them an email with details to corp, AND I got a CALL from the store manager himself. Yea, Yea, I am welcome to come in and use coupons at his store...OH I am sooo sorry for the unwelcome treatment... So I go in there last week. The assistant manager and cashier BUCKING the whole way with those Body wash/ venus razor coupons. AND HOW DARE I present a 5/20 coupon!!!! With my NAME ON IT! So then I say okay, I am going to the OTHER Rite aid. Totally different EXP! I was greated. The end caps were loaded with the sales of the week. AND the cashier was sooo happy to take my coupons. She read them, scanned them and said thank you for coming in. WOW! That is what I like!

Had my first issue today that I felt was worth emailing RA about. Manager gave me a hassle over using a B1G1 q on the Starburst and Skittles since they were on sale B1G1 already. He asked if I wanted to use my coupons sometime when they were not on sale because I was "going to be getting 2 for free." I resisted the urge to say "Duh buddy, that's the point of using the coupon now!" and instead said "Rite Aid's coupon policy states that yes I CAN use a B1G1 on a B1G1 promotion." I got the old "well I can do it this time but that's it" line. To make matters worse we had checked out at the pharmacy because we were buying Advil Cold & Sinus... after we did the age verification (swiping driver's license, blah blah blah) the manager cleared the transaction and did it all over again making us do the age verification a second time. Meanwhile I look like a huge jerk and a thief (for "taking" things for free ) to the line of about 6 people that was piling up behind me. Thanks a lot Rite Aid! |

This is why I do not shop at RiteAid.....period. BOGOF q's are hard to use at many stores that have BOGOF sales. It is something I hate to deal with! |
