| OT: Fort Wayne, IN shoppers
Since there are several people on here who shop at the Illinois Rd. Meijer I figure I'd ask this here... Does anyone buy the Indy Star for qs since it has more qs then the Journal Gazette? If so, where do you buy it? And if you buy it at the Kroger on Jefferson across from the Scotts in Coventry what time do you usually get there Sunday morning? Every time I've tried to get an Indy Star from there they are sold out... The earliest I ever tried before was noon... but last Sunday I was able to go at 10am, and they were still already sold out. So I always have to drive all the way up to the Glenbrook mall area to get it at Borders or Barnes & Noble... I'm really sick of driving up there every Sunday Or does anyone subscribe to it? I think my boyfriend called before and they said they don't do home delivery in Fort Wayne.. but not sure...

We've always gone before church (about 9am) and I only got 1 Indy star -- I get one of both. Down at school (Purdue) I also get one of both, but usually after church at about 1pm, and there are usually plenty! I know they don't deliver to the Ft. Wayne area, but I wouldn't do it anyway -- it's SUPER expensive! (Okay, expensive for a poor college student anyway :rollseyes2:

| I'm here in FW and I live on the SE side, out off of Tillman in Crown Colony. My husband works at our church and leaves our house around 7:30a on Sundays. So I have him stop on his way to work, every Sunday morning at our Kroger on Petite. They have always had them. But I've never tried to get one later in the morning. As far as I know, all the Krogers/Scotts carry them. Some just sell out quicker. Have you tried the Scotts at Coventry? Or how about the Scotts on Scott Rd? I assume if you go a bit earlier, you'd be in luck. I would call first and ask if they have any left before driving over there (save yourself the gas!) I remember a few times when I wanted an extra one for a total of 2, and called my Southgate Kroger. They did have some left and said they'd hold one at the service desk for me if I wanted How 'bout that for service??Good luck! BJ |

the Scotts on Scott Rd is where I usually shop for Kroger deals, so I know they don't sell the Indy Star... I tried the Coventry Scotts but no luck there either, haven't tried recently though... this past Sunday was the first time in a long time that I went anywhere but Borders or Barnes & Noble. There's a Barnes & Noble at Jefferson Pointe, but I tried there a while ago and they don't sell them... I don't get why the one at Glenbrook would, but the one at JP doesn't. As far as I know the Kroger on Jefferson is the only place in the SW that carries it cause when I first started couponing about a year and a half ago, I tried everywhere... and it seems to be that my only choices are to try and get to Kroger on Jefferson earlier, or go all the way up to Glenbrook.. both of which are not too convenient. |

Sorry, but you have to get there EARLY to get a copy!!! All Scotts and Kroger sells them but MOST are out by noon...you are actually SUPER lucky to get one at 10am! They actually do not do home delivery! which is a HUGE bummer becasue I would definately get it delivered!!! I also know that the couple who do delivery to FT Wayne will not give/ sell the inserts. I was told that they are an older couple and not all that friendly. I was actually considering calling to see what exact places that they did deliver to and see if one is a gas station and going to talk to the manager and see if they could order 3 copies for me that I picked up every Sun. But now I just buy my inserts from a lady on here instead from another state.

yep the Indy Star has more qs in it since Indy is a bigger city = higher # of people subscribed. Some manufacturers only want to pay so much for advertising so they choose only to advertise/put qs in bigger cities' papers. They save money by skipping the smaller papers. And yep you can get it in Fort Wayne, but not everywhere... not even all Kroger/Scotts. I wish the Scotts on Scott Rd sold it since I live right down the street... It's not that I get there too late, they just don't sell it because there's never even any empty room where it should be and I have asked twice. But the one on Jefferson always has empty space for it.. and last week there was actually 1 left, but I could tell someone had looked through it already (pages rumpled and stuff) so I checked for inserts, but they were gone. The last time (year and a half ago) that I checked the Scotts in Coventry they didn't even sell papers inside the store, they just had the machines out front. They had the Indy Star, but of course the machine was empty. I can't believe it's so hard to get a good newspaper |

I get mine at the Southgate Kroger also around 9 am and if I remember correctly most Burger Dairy's (gas stations) carry them. I know the one on Fairfield and Maxine use to carry them until Gasway bought them.

I just e-mailed the Indy Star and let them know that their paper is always sold out so if they stocked more they would sell more. |

| Yes, it's always worth the extra trip/$ for me! I'm always glad I get it. Def work it. JG is good but Indy Star is usually much better. BJ |

Can you purchase the Chicago Tribune? I would recommend that over the Indy Star, although the Star isn't too bad. : )

Nope no Chi Trib avail here. But yes the Star has WAY better and MORE q's than the ft wayne paper!! And watch out I think the Ft wayne paper went up .25 this week!! From what I remember the Scotts on Coventry Ln and Bluffton do not have a spot for them, they just set up a table on Sundays. And from what I was told they no longer use the machines for the Star. I guess to many papers have gotten stolen... but like I said the older couple that delivers the papers may have just made that call.

thanks, I'll check out the Scotts on Coventry again. I wish I could get the Chicago Trib here since I used to live in Chicago, I'd probably actually read the articles too if I could get the Trib. Actually I'll check the Scotts on Scott Rd again too, I'm not sure how I worded it when I asked if they had the Indy Star... if I just said "do you have the Indy Star" and they said no because they were just sold out, I could have mistaken that for them meaning they didn't carry it at all... next time I word it "do you carry the Indy Star" Last edited by funnybottoms; 01-08-2010 at 08:56 PM. |

so, do you gals who typically get the star get the journal gazette also? and how many to you get? typically i am very disappointed in the coupons we get. Stores sales haven't been that great around here either i don't think. I usually go to the meijer/walmart on maysville road and the kroger in new haven.

If P&G is the only insert (due to holidays) I'll get the Journal Gazette since it's easier to get. But other than that I don't buy the JG and I usually only buy 1 copy of the Indy Star. If I want multiples of a q I will order them from a clipper and I'm a member of a train so I don't feel the need to buy extra papers. I just buy 1 in order to have some qs to send on the train and in case there's a q I want to use right away that I can't wait for the clipper.

I Always get a Journal Gazzette because of the ads. i like to price match at Meijer because they double up to .50 and sometimes I can get a better deal there. Also I like a visual of the ads. I get about 20 inserts. 10 of them are form the Journal gazzette (I have a hook up for the inserts) and 10 are from a lady who sells inserts here. If a good q is coming out I get more

I was buying our local paper (which is awful - Lansing State Journal) then realized it was just easier (and cheaper!! LOL!) to look them up online - and you can usually do it the night before too!

| Meijer price matches grocery items? which one do you go to because I think the one that i go to only price matches general merchandise items. I usually do my shopping at Kroger (they triple up to .50.)

Yes, the ones here in Ft Wayne do. The only Meijers I have shoppped at is theone up North and the one on IL rd. But, wishful thinking may know this, I am not sure about maysville. But yes I PM lots of stuff if it has a q for .50 or under to get a better price!

same here, I just look at the ads online and write down a list... the Kroger ad comes in the mail... if I need a Meijer, WG, or CVS ad I just grab one at the store.. I've never had any problems finding them at the store so far, but I always try to go on the first day of the sale... and I don't know if they have Target ads in the store, I don't shop there as much. well now I just thought of another question.... does anyone know about what time they Indy Star gets delivered to the stores in the morning? I'm planning on going out to a bar tonight... so I'll probably still be up until 3-5 am since the Kroger on Jefferson is 24 hours I'm wondering if I go there around 4 or 5 am if they'd be there yet...

I get my Indy Stars at the Scotts and Krogers on Dupont Road. You have to get up super early. I send my husband, who is normally up by 7 am. Have heard some of the CVS's carry them, but usually just a few. Also, a couple of small Marathon gas stations. hth
