NY & Company card "Change in Terms" Notice

I just got my "change in terms" notice for my NY & Co.

In case you only skimmed through yours please note the section that says:

You will be charged $1 for each paper monthly billing statement mailed to you. You will not be charged this fee if you have registered for online access to your account and have agreed to receive your monthly billing statement solely electronically via e-statements.

Luckily I have been doing this for a couple of years already but I wonder how many people will not read this "notice". Even though it's a small fee why pay it at all? This will become effective January 29, 2010 so if you haven't done so already, sign up for e-statements.

Also note the Dispute Resolution Provision.

Thanks for the head's-up. I don't have this card, but tend to ignore these notices on other cards I have so I should probably start looking. I can just imagine how many senior citizens are paying fees like this on their accounts b/c they don't use computers.

Hmm...I just threw away the change in terms for my VS card. I guess I should have read the whole thing. I usually don't let the account statement, but I did last month so that I would have all the info to add to my online bill pay through my bank.

I guess credit cards have to get their fees from somewhere now. At least this one is only a small fee. $1 is $1 though!

Yes you should start looking. There are new credit card laws taking effect in 2010 so the CC companies are starting to raise rates and charge fees now b/c they will be limited in what they can do after the laws take effect.

Truly sad indeed
