I bought a 4 pack dole fruit and gel on managers special for .97 cents i had a 1.00 off two so it was super cheap!!! i got home and checked the expiration date and it is march 2006!!!! should i just return it to the store or email corprate??

I would do both also and check to make sure they remove it from the shelf, I bought some A1 from Publix this Spring and it was very outdated, told the mgr, and they never did take it off the shelf!

I would. I would not want to get sick and make sure you talk to the manager about this. Last thing they need is for you or anybody else is to pass the word around that they are selling out dated food. You know a week is 1 thing but 3 years. NO WAY!!!

It was actually the last one!! no one else getting sick!!!

If they do not remove them, I would call the health dept and let them know. Or call your Tv station to report that a local store is selling outdated food item. That will wake em up.

I'd take it back, I've seen stuff at my Kroger on manager's special that was expired, I figured that's why it was marked down so cheap. ?

1. Take a photo of the product, expiration date and receipt.

2. Contact corporate and let them know what happened. Offer to send photos if they need/want them (hence, step 1). You never know, they may offer you a monetary apology.

3. Return the product to the store for a refund/exchange.

It was probably an honest mistake. It may have been shoved to the back or fallen behind and someone just found it and returned it to the shelf without checking the date.

Unless you hate your store, I would not call corporate. If you go directly to the manager, you will make a friend. He/she could get into a lot of trouble for this oversight and will probably appreciate your graciousness.

FYO......the fact that it is outdated does not mean that it would make you sick. The food pantry recommended standard for properly packaged canned foods (this qualifies as canned) is 3 years past the exp. date. The only thing you would need to be concerned with is a change in taste or texture and some lessening of vitamin value. The standard for infant foods IS the date of expiration due to nutritional needs. Food safety is not an issue if the package is undamaged.

Return it to the store so they can pull any other out of date product. Reporting it to corp does not get the product off the shelf.
