Update 7/1: The store manager called me yesterday and apologized for how I was treated. That's all she said. I asked if I was correct about the coupon policies and she said "I think so". She's sending me some $5/$25 Qs which is good since mine just expired. However, I have to say, I don't think she had a clue what my complaint was, nor do I think she read it. She just kept apologizing "for what happened". I felt like she just had a list of people to call and say "I apologize for what happened". Whatever. Coincidentally, when she called, I was enroute to another RA where I did the exact same deal without a hitch. When the rest of my Stayfree Qs come, I will be going back to the stores I normally go to to finish the second half of my plan to get that $25 GC from J&J. Just came back from the Rite Aid closest to my home. Never shopped this one before as I do most of my shopping at lunch near work. Never had any problems with the ones I normally shop at. Was doing this deal: Buy 12 Stayfree @ 3.99 Buy 1 dove clinical strength use $5/$25 Use 6 Stayfree BOGO Qs Use $2/1 printable for dove Spend .01 plus tax oop Went to the register and got "Brian" who was wearing a tag that said "New Associate". I said something friendly about being new and he said, "Oh, I'm not new...I just forgot..." Um, ok. He rings up one item. Hasn't even looked at coupons and says, "We'll have to do these one at a time, you can only use one coupon per transaction." I laughed, thinking he was playing, then realized he was serious. I said, "oh, it says, one per purchase, not transaction, and each item is a purchase. It would say if you could only use one coupon per transaction" (and I show him). He warily goes forward. Then he gets to the coupons. Takes off the $5/$25, no problem. Then the stayfree beeps for him to enter the amount. He gets all flustered. I said, "oh, you just have to enter the amount". So he does, and gets through those. I can see he's very bothered by the total getting smaller and smaller. Then he gets to the Dove IP and says, "Oh we don't take these, only internet coupons that say "rite aid" on them. I said, "Really? Because that's never happened at Rite Aid before, even as recently as yesterday". He says, "We just got a memo on it today". I said, "Is there a manager I can speak to?" This is what gets me. He says, "I'm the manager". Bull hocky. Now I'll buy that he "accidentally" wore a "new associate" tag, but his obvious lack of knowledge about coupons makes me very suspicious of his claim that he's a manager. So I asked to see the memo. He says he can't show it to me. I said, "I don't mean to sound ugly, but I shop and use coupons all of the time, including at Rite Aid and this has never come up before. I will have to contact corporate and I want to be sure this is what you want to do". He said, "That's fine". So I had him void the order, took my coupons and began to leave. He then yelled out, "Ma'am, the Internet coupon policy is on the blue sign if you want to read it". I read it. It says, "only one IP per txn up to $5.". So then I turned around and said, "Well, you just proved my point. I only used one IP and it was for $2." (BTW, note that this policy does not say it has to be a Rite Aid Q as he claimed). He said, "The Rite Aid Q is an IP as well". I said, "no, the Dove Q is an IP, the Rite Aid coupon is an attachment you sent me by email to get me into your store. I made a special trip to come here and it's been for nothing". Anyway, I'm just really frustrated. Frustrated that his story kept changing and frustrated that he's either a liar posing as a manager or the most coupon ignorant manager I've ever met. Thanks for listening. | Goodness, what a trip. I'm sorry you had so much trouble and got nothing for your efforts. I'm just venturing out in this new world of using various Qs and other forms of savings. Sometimes you guys make me not even want to try.

UGH!! Like I have said before, these companies need to train their employees about coupons like they train them how to run the register, bag items, ect. ESPECIALLY the managers. Or in this case the "manager". My best guess would be this guy is new and just didn't want to call a manager, because it would make him look bad or he was being extremly lazy. Sorry about your bad shopping expierence.

I was just thinking, too...If those RA Qs they send by email were considered IPs, they'd never take their own Qs...like the ones last week that were for $25 off of umbrellas and such!!!

Thats good. Corporate needs to know. I am wondering where the rule on one IP per transaction came from, I used two today. They also have coupons on coupons.com. Including a 5 off 25 and a 2 dollar off their own razor. hmmmf.

I have recently had the SAME problem. I did email corp. and was told they take an unlimited amount of internet coupons as long as each coupon is not over $5.00. I even had a talk with the store manager in person and she told me the policy (as I had corrected her with the printed email from customer service) and the next day I go in and the cashier still told me only on IP coupon!!! I was so irritated that she did not bother to pass the updated coupon policy to the cashiers! I will be taking my shopping elsewhere.

I am sorry that this idiot was the cashier and probable wasn't even a mgr. If he is a mgr he needs to be fired! If he lied to you saying he was when in fact is really is a new employee he should be fired! There are good people that could fill his position now very fast......I just don't get these folks.......did they forget that they are replaceable!!! And we weren't just born yesterday |

I agree! When I had this at Walgreens they were fine to take 15 minutes to do the return, instead of taking 2 minutes to give me the $2.00 coupon! UGH!

I've noticed that this isn't isolated to Rite Aid. I think "Service" in general has disappeared. With more and more people looking for ways to save a buck, coupon usage has increased. We went to breakfast yesterday and had a BOGO Breakfast Item Q, the cashier refused to take it because we purchased 8 breakfasts instead of just the 2 it stated on the BOGO Q. I almost fell down laughing. The manager had to explain to her that it was ok that 8 of us came to breakfast, but we still received 1 of them for free! Maybe these corporations are cutting back on their training budgets to save money on their end! Sorry for your awful experience, hopefully you can shop at the store by your office tomorrow. |

Yea, I got irritated at Rite Aid tonight too. They finally said that I could use the stayfree coupons but then she said that I could not use the 5 off 25 coupon because I was using the stayfree q's. Are you kidding me....I even went to give her the 5 off 25 q first. She said you can't use both.

I went the other day and she didn't wouldn't take my 5/25 first. I was so mad. I tried to explain to her, but ohh no. I just don't shop there anymore. Not worth it. The manager there is very nice I might talk to him if there is a great deal, but not worth my time and effort. Time is money too. The only reason I went there is because I needed kids stool softner and cvs and kroger didn't have it! Boo Hoo! These Rite Aids need to get their act together or they will be out of business too!
