| WOW! New ad has Corn On The Cob 10 for $1...
Has anyone ever tried freezing corn on the cob? I see lots of sites that say you *can* do it - I'm just wondering what the corn is like when you thaw it out - still yummy or just meh? TIA! |

We get corn every year from local farmers here and freeze it. We mostly take it off the cob to freeze but I have left a few on the cob and it turned out just fine. My kids refuse to eat any other frozen corn. Its still super yummy!!

I think I might try freezing a couple of batches - at this price it won't be a huge loss if it doesn't work out. |

I live in South Dakota where there's a corn field everywhere you look! When I was a kid, my friend and I used to sit on the end of her dad's truck near the highway selling sweet corn in the summer. Ahhh... the good old days!!! hehe Anyways, yes... most definitely freeze as much sweet corn as you can! It's so nice to have it to eat during the winter months. We always set up an assembly line at my mom and dad's house. 1 person shucks the corn, 1 person cuts off the ends, 1 person uses an electric knife to cut the corn off the cob and then another person puts it in freezer bags. We do a lot though, so everyone can take some home! But trust me, you'll thank yourself in the winter!

| Add some ginger ale to the package of sweet corn before freezing. This helps the corn retain its sweetness.

If you blanch the corn before freezing it cooks easier after thawing! We freeze corn every year from our hudge garden and have had lots of success! I also always throw some butter right in the package so I can just dump in a bowl and microwave to heat up! Good luck!!!!!

Yum! We freeze it also. I think it is better when you take it off the cob I think sometimes that it can taste a little different if you keep it on the cob. Our family likes creamed corn. So I do it that way a lot. It is not like the cream corn in the can at all. My in-laws didn't know what to think of cr. corn but I went ahead and did mine that way and they did all of it plain need less to say after eating ours they wished they would have made the cr. corn and did that the following yr. Just an idea to throw out there for another way of doing the corn :-)
