Walmart's coupon policy change??

I made a trip to Walmart yesterday. I had 4 coupons for $1/2 Bar S hot dogs. 2 were in color, 2 were not (printed from two different computers, with the unique code). The cashier refused to take the 2 black and white coupons, first saying they were copies. I showed her the unique code, to which then she proceeded to tell me Walmart's policy had changed towards internet coupons. She said that there were so many fraudulent coupons floating around that they were only accepting color IPs. WHAT?

Has anyone heard of this? I asked when that change occurred and the cashier said they had just made it a couple weeks ago. Strange...

I cannot imagine that a store would not let you use a b/w coupon. Honestly, after reading posts on this topic under many different stores all I can do is shake my head. I do not even have a color printer hooked to my computer. If it happened to me I would ask why they would discriminate against those who cannot afford to buy a color printer. My printer is ten years-old and I am not planning on upgrading until it stops working.

I have had many talks with the cashiers at my Walmart. I used to go in there with 2 IP's and have the 2 products but they will only except 1 IP. I tried to explain to them they have unique codes but they claim they go by the scan bar code.

Ladies, if you have time -- do not argue!! Nicely asked them to suspend yout transaction and call 1.800.925.6278. Be sure you obtain the names of the people you spoke with and let corporate know what is going on in their stores -- not franchises with independence.

I had to explain to a "customer service" manger today:

- I could use more than one coupon at a time on multiple items, even trials - just adjust the coupon price.
- My coupons were not copies -- just printed from a black and white printer
- You don't have to read each coupon of multiples -- they say the same thing

Think I'll go back tomorrow and get some more free stuff -- or semi-free as my son says, "You had to pay tax."

I have also heard that price adjusting is illegal...And the store can be charged with that. They are reimbursed for the full value of the q's plus usually .8 or something like that. So it is considered coupon fraud for them (the store) to adjust it down??? I just wanted to post something about this and see if anyone else has heard the same thing....HTH

Thank you so much for the 1 800 number. I notice that Walmart in particular has employees that don't seem to be trained so well. They should err on the side of the customer until told otherwise, not treat us as attempting to defraud them.

The coupons that required adjustment said: "K-C will pay you face value (actual retail price, or maximum value if indicated, if "free" offer) plus $.08 handling fee per coupon." My thought is that adjusting these shouldn't have been considered fraud. It would actually save the store money on a $1 coupon being used on a $.97 item. I don't believe the manufacturers will pay more than the actual retail price.

I went to WM today for the first time in ages. My cashier said that they can't take ANY coupons that won't scan. My printables rarely scan at Target but I was lucky and they all went through at SWM today. I was pretty nervous!

I guess that makes sense, but colors can also be copies. LOL I've heard of a lot of Walmart changes in coupon things including they won't be doubling coupons anymore and the fact that they won't take IPs anymore.

WOW If your WalMart doubles coupons you are very very lucky. They would never double here in South Florida.

I went into my Wal-Mart today with 1 Q I got in the mail and 2 IP. The cashier scanned the Q from the mail, and then she gives me back the IP Q's and tells me I can't use them. I asked why and she replied because they don't accept ANY IP Q anymore, there have been fraudalent coupons and people were copying them. (My 2 IP's were different.) I asked to speak to a manager. A customer service manager came over and said that they changed the policy a few weeks ago. I showed her my copy of the coupon policy (which whoever posted this, THANK YOU!). I printed it TODAY! I said that this is false advertisement. No where does it say IP Q are being stopped! She tells me that only certain stores are doing it. Again, it doesn't say that anywhere. I was getting pretty angry. Yes, I know it was only 2 Q's, but the fact of the matter is that they had no postings of their "new rule". So I asked her name and asked for corporate's number, but then I decided to speak to a store manager. She came over and told me the same thing the other 2 told me. I was getting soooo mad. They kept arguing with me! Isn't the customer usually right? I showed her the policy and told her it was false advertisement and I'm going to call corporate to let them know. She finally gave in and said (very snotty) "go ahead, give it to her" and walked away very fast! It's not MY fault that people are making copies or doing whatever. I coupon honestly. Why should the nice people have to pay for the scammers?! Now I have to find a new Wal-Mart!

I had the same problem at my Walmart in Colorado a couple of days ago. I was told by the cashier that they don't accept printed coupons anymore. I told her that I just used coupons that I printed from the internet yesterday and she looked at me like I had grown a second head. Of course the line is backing up now and you can just hear the people getting inpatient. A customer service manager just happened to walk by and I stopped her. She gave me the same song and dance. I very politely asked her to contact a manager to verify. The manager told the CS manager and the cashier that as long as the coupons had a bar code they accept them. They both seemed like this was complete news to them, but they did accept my coupons and sent me on my way.

So frustrating........

I have used internet coupons here in Michigan at Walmart, and have no problems using them. Although a rude cashier did make a statement that they were going to quit accepting them. I think she was put out because I had coupons for free things.

I have to say of all the places I shop, I always have the worst time at walmart. Always a rude cashier, and also one who suspects Im doing something wrong because i am using coupons.

Its quite frustrating. So frustrating that i will spend more time looking for a similar deal at another store just to avoid walmart. Its a shame when it comes to that.

However they are so big, they could honestly care less about a few couponers and their frustrations.

Im not an angry person, just chose to decide what battles to fight. This one, I dont see getting any better!

Happy Shopping!

I went to Walmart yesterday and had coupons that made everything I bought free. I only paid .20 just the tax. That cashier was very nice and couldn"t believe that is all I paid for $9.00 worth of items.

When they adjust, they are supposed to cross out the amount on coupon and hand-write the amount that they adjusted down to; that is what a few store managers told me when i used my Glucerna Cereal $5/1 coupon... they would adjust down to lets say $3.94.

Not sure if this is actual policy, but again that is what a few managers did.

Thank you so much for this! I've not used coupons much in recent years because I don't use many brand name products, but I do recall the last time I used a printed coupon at WalMart, they would not accept it. That turned me off completely since wasting ink/paper isn't saving me anything.

I've just programmed that number into my cell phone and you can bet I'll be using it if it happens again!

I don't really see the difference in B&W or color IPs. Can't you copy IPs in color, not just B&W, if you have a color copier? I have an HP All-in-one so I have a color copier, although I haven't ever tried to copy a coupon. I have also had some trouble in the past with IPs at Walmart. I used one and then a few weeks later, I couldn't use one, but then about a month ago, I could again.

The same thing happened to me as the OP. I had 4 coupons, 2 printed in color and 2 printed in B&W, from 2 computers. I handed them one of each and the cashier called over a manager. The manager said this one is fine, the color one, and this one is a copy. I said, actually, it's not a copy. It's printed in B&W. 'Well, we can't take it unless its in color.' So I said, here, here's the other color one I have. But yes, color copies do exist. And that was my exact thought. It all gets so frustrating, I quit couponing for a while. But it makes me sick to my stomach to have to purchase something I know I could have gotten FREE or at an extremely cheaper price.
