Morning sunshines ![]() How are my favorite people doing this weekend? Are you ready for summer? What are your summer plans? I would love to hear from everyone! I'll start: I am working part time so kids will be in summer camp and then on my days off we are doing Library and Movies ![]() I am teaching a lot of classes this summer (coupon classes) and writing a column in my local paper. My hubby is out of town most of the week for work so just me and the 3 kiddos for most of the summer. He should get assigned his own Tractor Supply soon! ![]() I am hoping to teach my 7yr old to swim and get our 1yr old off the Pacifier (any suggestions?) Okay now your turn!

Hmmm...summer plans....I've spent so much of my time counting down the arrival of new baby that I didn't think about what we'd do this summer once she got here, .Since I'm a SAHM and we home school, summer time isn't much different than any other time of the year. Library visits, trips to the park, pool time. I also need to get my 6.5 yr old to learn how to swim. I would like to start fixing up my front yard: planting flowers, etc... but I don't know if I should bother with the massive amounts of rain we've been getting. I need to start planning for the school year in the Fall soon too. For once, we don't have any amusement park passes so idk what we'll do without those. Just take it day by day and see what fun things we can come up with to do.

Well considering that I'm a librarian and several of you have plans for your library, it looks like that answers the question for me! The library is hopping busy. And I love it. Remember, kids summer reading programs are going on and they are the best bargain--free!

I am a teacher, so I am really looking forward to the start of my summer!!! Only 5 more days with students and then 2 days of post planning and I am done!! My goals for this summer are to take the paci away from my 17 month old and to have him potty trained by August! Any ideas or advice??? With the paci, we are already down to mainly naps/bedtime and in the car. We are also going to Cape San Blas in July and I can't wait!!!

Well my plans are to find a job. It's been horrible not working the past 3 months and I really need something before unemployment runs out. And of course a couple of trips to the beach. I am about 10 mins from Siesta Key the second most beautiful beach in the world according to Dr Beach, at least thats what he's been saying on the news. Other that finding a job and the beach, thats about it.

School just got out here today. So our plans for summer include pool, library, free bowling, free movies and picnics at park. Cheap & fun stuff that hopefully memories are made of. I got each of the kids a small memory book at Target dollar spot on clearance that I plan on letting them create pages with photos that we take all summer. Kind of a what we did all summer type thing. That will be rainy day project.

I work, so summer is pretty much the same as any other month, except we can use the pool. I weaned 2 boys off the pacifier. My first was about 20 months, and we just took them away cold turkey one day. He was fussy for a day or two at bedtime, then he forgot about them. With our second, we took them away younger and used the gentler method of cutting off the end (who thinks of these things?). We cut off a little, then a few days later, a little more. Be careful - sometimes they can bite chunks off once you start cutting. Check them often. After a few days, you can say something like, "should we throw away these broken pacifiers?" and probably get away with it. Or just take them and at that point, they are not so enthralled since you can't really suck on them anymore once the end is cut off. For Dolphin - We just potty trained our 2YO, starting at 23 months. You can do it! Just be prepared to stick with it, because it will probably take you a month or maybe more since he's so young. Good luck!

| Thanks! I have all summer off with him, so hopefully we can make some progress. We bought a potty seat today! I got him a Diego one (he loves Diego) and a stool. When he wakes up from his nap, we are going to give it a try! Wish me luck!!

I don't really have any plans for the summer. Just taking it day by day. One of the movie theaters near us is offering $1 movies for the kids on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I am sure we will do that. Also, the school district gives each kid summer passes to bowl one game per day at the local bowling alley so we will work that in. We are going to Michigan to visit family at the end of July so that should be fun. My oldest son wants to join the golf team next year so he will be practicing a lot with his dad and his papa. Nothing to exciting.

Looking for a job, then once I get it, saving up whatever I can so that we can continue the house fixups and maybe take a real vacation. Something involving a week or two away from the house instead of just overnighters ![]() And cooking. I've been doing a ton of experimenting and new recipe trying-out now that I have my new stove installed. Last night was Pork Wellington (mostly following Alton Brown's recipe); tonight was a "Six-Spice Pork & Pepper Stew" that was me winging something midway between "Pork & Pepper Stirfry" vs "Five-Spice Powder Pork Bellies". Both were YUMMY. My husband is soooo happy to come home from work to a house smelling of happyfood, especially when I can pull it off for less than $5 for the entire meal! The house remodel is almost done in the "big stuff" area. But you know houses, there's always some other $$ project down the line. I need to replace the hot water heater ASAP (it's 25 years old! survived this long only because until last month we were on well water so it never got eaten-up-from-inside by city water chemicals), look into paving the driveway, get the house logs scrubbed & sealed somehow (log home = carpenter bee ground zero!), redo a bunch of wiring, get the broken well pump fixed & things replumbed so it'll supply the outside hose bibs and be an alternate/backup to city water for the house ... new windows and lots of screen replacements, fix deck and porch ... I have a list that's several pages long, broken down by room. Some are little three-hour things, some are pay-someone-four-figures ... That's why I coupon. I need my money to go to other things! |
