Unfortunately right now my new Toshiba laptop is broken (tears) but when I was using it..it had Vista installed so I don't know if that was the difference but I could clean out my internet files, then do the clear up space on my hard drive, then run a nifty free program called CCleaner and I could print a set on IE AND on Firefox. Sometimes, depending on the mood of my computer I think, I could actually go back and print another set on IE. It's worth a shot I suppose.

Re-install Fails

FYI I removed the coupon Print software, ran CCleaner, rebooted, d/l new software, installed it again and it STILL will not allow me to print more then the max limits. It is still possible that the uninstall did not catch all the cookies tho.

How often are these sources updated ?

Thanks

It's not the cookies, it's the registry files. The uninstall doesn't clean everything, otherwise you'd be able to do this all the time and keep printing coupons. There's a guy out there who has been sued by coupons.com because he tells people how to clean the registry. Lawsuit didn't go through though. Coupons.com is a TRUSTe site, and they're actually in voilation according to TRUSTe's rules, because when you do an uninstall it doesn't take everything out. Do a search for coupons.com and TRUSTe, you should find the article.

If you have more than 1 computer you can print them on the same printer. I have printed coupons from my desktop and my laptop with the same printer. They put a file on your hard drive and like mentioned above it is hard to get it off just to print another coupon. You can also have a friend print you coupons for things you use and trade with them for ones you can print that they want. HTH

I know that I am tired of trying tho !
I have removed software, TRIED to find hidden software bits, reg files, cookies etc and I STILL can't find it all. SOMEWHERE on the system they hide some type of key that isn't removed by normal means. FIND that key and you are a GOD.......
And for those who think differently, I DO NOT CONSIDER this to be a bad thing on our part, THEY are violating our rights etc by NOT removing ALL the parts when we un-install the software.
I want more coupons ......... arrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhh , I am addicted !!
FOFLOL !!

BEST TO ALL (and a free coupon to whoever solves the 'problem' - my choice of coupon tho ! snicker)

Sspunk Please reread the post I quoted above yours. This is not a joke there is a lawsuit and they are really serious about stopping abuse of coupons. Like I posted earlier you can print them from other computers using the same printer or have friends print them for you. I would not bother trying to get around their system it is in place for a reason and unless they loose this lawsuit - which they won't - I would just play within the lines. I know it is frustrating sometimes - yesterday I had to pull out my laptop because I sent a coupon to my printer before the printer was turned on and I got no coupon. Popped up the laptop went to the same link and printed it with that one.

Just tired of it all .........

1) I DID read the articles, and I am on the side of the man who is being sued by a large corp who are just mad at him because he happened to catch them lying about the removal process of their software application in regards to a violation of Etrust (or whatever their name is) regulations for bearing their logo.
He has not violated any laws and neither have I. MY curiosity was piqued by the whole process. IF they say that their software has been removed from the system after following standard removal procedures and it isn't then they are in violation of the standards of the group that they have joined and promised to uphold. It could be considered Spyware or even malware.

2) Now as to the other point about how many coupons one person can d/l. If they are THAT worried about it then they should STATE that there is a limit to the number of times you can d/l, whether it is 1 or 1 million doesn't matter. Their biggest concern is COPYING , and counterfeiting, BOTH of which are against the law, the reason for the individual pin # on each coupon. Besides, if they wanted to they could find a copier very fast because of the duplicated pin #, just find the source of the original one and the odds are that is the person who copied it in the first place, and 99% chance that THEY didn't know it was wrong. (EXCEPT for the dog & cat food 'coupons' (the ones that say "FREE") on Ebay that is )

I am like the person who found the flaw, I just don't like the idea that they are leaving parts of themselves on my system without my knowledge. I have enough Microsoft folders that can't be deleted as it is, without adding more garbage to my drive. Eventually, My drive will fill up because of all the bits & pieces of software that has been left behind. Think about it that way.
I honestly could care less if I print another coupon on my machine as it is. They can become money wasters with all the printer wear and tear, paper, ink etc. Besides, the fact that is is cheaper for the manf. to send them out this way, they won't have to print any if they wanted.

Either way, it is an interesting subject, but not one I am really going to lose any sleep over.

BEST TO YOU & YOURS !!

steve

ps

I have not violated their software by the way, haven't touched it or tried to de-compile it or read it or anything. JUST tried to DELETE it from my drive. ALL of it.

After a period of time, certain sites will let you print more of the coupon. Also, some sites just require that you have a different email address to print off more of the same coupon.

I would also like to point out that if you do not understand regedit on your computer, do not delete any files.

That seems like the biggest hassle ever just to get another coupon. Best way i know of is to just print them off with a seperate computer. In my opinion, people who try to cheat the system are greedy, and greed gets you nowhere.

you need to delete your history of the sites that you have been in

once you do that it will allow you to print more

don't ask me how to do it because i am not on my computer and can't seem to figure it out on my fiance's computer

It's not based on IP or cookies. You also can't send the print job to adobe. You have to have a coded script in order to print more copies from the same computer. They install a "plug-in" into your browser, the "coupon manager" keeps track of what you have printed. Here is an article with ABC news. Coupon Hacker Faces DMCA Lawsuit - ABC News

Sadly this article is 2 years old and does not have an update. The last I heard was Mr S WON the lawsuit and the decision is currently being appealed by Coupons, Inc.

The software IS in violation of eTrust rules for this type of software. It is SUPPOSED to remove it's self COMPLETELY from your system if you uninstall it. It does not. It would seem like an easy task for Coupons to just quit eTrust and then the point would be moot and they would be able to leave those bits & pieces on your system like many other pieces of software and NOT be in a pickle like they are now. The fact that people could do exactly what they fear because of it is just part of the game. (Kinda like Captain Kirk and the Kobi Yashu Marie (or whatever the name was!) test at Starfleet. He beat it, but he cheated to do it. That WAS the purpose of that test. )

If Coupons Inc is so worried about the problem, then they should come up with a way to solve the problem. One that DOES NOT VIOLATE the rules that they claim to honor. I don't have an answer either. I used to be a Systems Analyst years ago and to tell the truth, one of the biggest thrills I had, was trying to crash or violate a system. I had to because it was my job. I can understand the thrill of the hunt, and then the kill.

Ah well, it's time for my insulin shot. (Rather have a shot of Seagrams !)

BEST TO ALL !!

I know the article is old, however it is still informative. It's really something that the average person wouldn't want to piddle with (excluding professionals with experience such as you). I can appreciate your interest.
