I just talked to customer service at Target regarding internet coupons and they told me that they are no longer accepting internet coupons because of fraud. I asked if it was a store policy or corporate and she said corporate. Anyone else heard of this?

Okay guys, this is what I sent in: A friend of mine wrote into Target.com Guest Services and asked about the policy of stores accepting internet printed coupons. She was told that corporate has made the decision NOT to accept any more internet printed coupons, effective immediately, due to fraud. Can I please get a basis and an actual statement regarding this? Majority of my readers on my website shop at Target, and I would appreciate a straightforward answer that is correct rather than heresay and freak people out. Thank you. Hopefully, I will get an answer rather soon regarding this, as this is a serious change in policy and if that guest service rep isn't correct, then he needs to be set straight before people start to panic. I really doubt its the case, but I want to nip this in the butt quickly before anyone panics Including me!And, stuff like this spreads like wildfire...next thing you know, it isn't true, but a store GSTL heard it was, and soon they aren't accepting IP's, and so on and so forth. P.S. And when I said "my site", I was referring to my blog, not AFC

I emailed them yesterday and got the basic response that is already posted here but it didnt say anything about internet coupons, only Target and Manu coupons. The email encouraged me to call the 1800 number, which I did. However, the guy I talked to could barely speak english and I dont think he understood the question I was asking because he kept repeating the coupon policy that I got in my email. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he said in the call center they were all the same. I hung up and called again and got another person who spoke broken english. I hung up and called the local store and that is when they told me what I said in my OP.

I want to hear too! I tried using 2 TARGET IP's this morning and because they beeped (who knows why - I got the right thing) they wouldn't take them...then they accused me of copying them!! (BTW none of my other q's had a prob. even the IP Glade $4 ones so who knows...) The lady said that they beep when they have been copied and weren't "real" q's!!!! Imagine! I had her take the oreo snack bags off the order, paid & left. argggg....

I think we should all relax and not assume on this. Target will email a general email response back because they do allow their stores to make their own coupon policy as long as it is consistent. Every store is different. Some will give overage, some don't. Some will let you use more than one target coupon, some don't. I have found that you need to ask the store manager their policy and keep it on hand while you shop.

I called Target customer service on Wednesday and spoke with Claudia. She was SHOCKED that my Target gave me such a hard time using the cpns. She said they WANT people to come in and use them! She took my name and addy and all that and we spoke of my particular store... and she called them as soon as we hung up! She said if it beeps they are supposed to hand-key it. So I went that night, handed my dh 3 q's and I had 3 q's. We went in different lines for time-sake. My cashier--each one beeped, I said they always do, she read the numbers on the q and BOOM they each went through! My dh's experience--the cashier tried scanning each one several times. She looked in the bag to confirm the matching purchase several times. I was now waiting with him. She called one lady over (who 2 weeks ago refused my $10 Tag q at the CSR desk and has one DOOZIE of a tude!), that lady looked at me down her nose and said "that's for Ms Barbra". So she called Ms Barbra. Each one beeped, she said we can't take them. My dh said "you can hand-key them". She looked at him like "WHO THE $%^& ARE YOU!?!?!" And didn't move--just stared at him over the top of her glasses! I said "I have the 800# in my cell phone... you can call corporate and speak to Claudia like I did, if you like." She said "excuse me?!?!?!" I said, "according to the customer service 800# provided on your website, if the scanner beeps it merely means it cannot read the coupon and you are supposed to hand key the coupon in." She hand-keyed one in. Had trouble with the 2nd because she couldn't read the numbers and said "I can't read this one, how am I supposed to hand-key it". I said "I was also told that I do not have to use my photo cartridge, or my color cartridge, or my best quality printing even, that a fast draft was perfectly acceptable". So she tried and tried and tried. My dh put his reading glasses on and read her the numbers, and lo and behold!!!! tell ME you can't take my coupon!!!!!!!! HMPF!!!!!!!!!

Like it was mentioned, Targets can restrict coupons as they see fit-if that is the case, request to see an official decision on part of the store and/or district office on this. It should never be on a case-to-case basis with whoever is running the front registers at any given moment. If they do not provide one, then hold out your copy of the Corporate coupon policy.
