| Crib Voucher BRU
I'm looking for some advice. Our Jardine crib was recalled this year and we were issued a voucher for $241 to be used only at BRU/TRU (cannot be used online). The problem is that there really isn't anything as nice as our old crib in that price range. You basically have the super cheap cribs at under $150 and then you have the nice cribs starting at $300. Has anyone else had this experience? I hate that we are limited to only what's on the floor at the store - there's no way to special order or buy from their website with this voucher. I'm also limited in that I'm short and want a drip-side crib or a super low non-drop-side style. Argh!

I would call customer service and let them know that it is not acceptable to you to not be able to use the voucher. While it is not their fault that a recall was issues, it is certainly not your fault and just a part of them doing business. I am CERTAIN they are being reimbursed from the manu. that issued the recall. GOod luck and keep us posted

When an item is recalled, you should be able to get a similar replacement in quality. I would make a stink.

not to be silly, but how old is your little one, and are you hoping for more children? If you don't have much time left in the crib stage, and you aren't planning more, you may just want to look around for an inexpensive crib, or borrow, or check out craigslist. Then use that money at TRU/BRU for something more practical for older kids. Just my thoughts

Wow, thanks for the replies! To answer questions, DS is 2 and in a bed now, but child number 2 is due mid-september, so we do need some kind of replacement. Unfortunately, DH is a safety engineer by profession, so used just isn't going to cut it. In his mind there are too many unknowns. That's the reason we took the recall voucher despite not seeing any signs of slats breaking (the stated reason for the recall). We had hoped to wait a few more months and see if the products change any (voucher is good until August) and I'm also keeping my eye out for good coupons for furniture. I got a 15% off one in the mail, but it's only good for a few weeks. When at the store the other night, we did speak to the manager, who was very empathetic but also said there was nothing he could do. The voucher is issued by the manufacturer for BRU in the hopes that we'll buy another of their cribs (which would be of most cost benefit to them). Needless to say, I refuse to give them another dime. Not because they made a mistake in manufacturing, but because they have hog-tied us in getting a replacement of similar quality. We are considering going to the manufacturer (Jardine) to air our complaints, but just don't know if that will get us anywhere. Does anyone else have experience with Jardine or another baby furniture manufacturer's customer service? |

Here's a link to a 15% off coupon: BRU coupons and you can use the $5/$25 coupon too.
