I don't think it is on the borderline of ethical at all ... Kmart shouldn't do these events if they have to pull items in order to do them. It is as equally frustrating as when a store does a loss leader on an item I buy all the time anyway, and then it is cleared out all over town and I can't buy the item (that I would have happily paid full price, or better than full price for at that point) that I actually need because the store priced it so low that they can't restock the shelf till the sale is over. ANNOYING!

I have noticed lately that the k-mart prices are no longer going back down after the doubles week ... they are marking things sky-high and leaving them there ... blech! I don't even look around when I shop there, just get my coupon items and get out.

Really they could just limit the amount of coupons used, or only double up to $1 and they would still get the customers into the store without the ridiculous prices.

I know this is the KMart forum, but I've only gotten my Gillette Body Wash free (it was priced $2) at Target. Granted, I was using the $2/1 Qs that expired 3/31, but I still went and used up all my Gillette Body Wash Qs buying the stuff.

I like the idea of hiding things, too. I don't shop KMart except for the super doubles, so I don't know regular prices and such. Guess I'll have to try to scope out the store on the first day of the sale next time.

I"m still on the fence about going. Their prices are too high and the shelves are empty. Now I see that they pull items.. well that explains alot.

Last doubles the pedilyte (sp) was $5.49 with the $2 Q it was $1.49. If I can find a few other deals worth the hunt I'll drive the 30 mins again but this time without my family. They hated it and the store was empty anyway.

Coupon for Trident gum states "Do Not Double." Last time they did doubles I was going to use the Stride q and manager went ballistic! I had not looked the coupon over well enough, I guess, but it did say "do not double." Understood her point, didn't understand her uproar. AND, the Kmart ad specifically stated 75 coupons per customer. She saw how many coupons I had and said "We can only accept 25 coupons." I picked up the ad and read to her exactly what it stated about the use of coupons. She replied with "Our store has the right to revise this policy. Customer service has the revised policy for our store at the customer service desk. But, I will let you do it this time only." Very rude woman, I might add. And, if the store reserves the right to revise the coupon policy, shouldn't someone tell me as I walk in with coupons in hand instead of waiting until I have spent a good portion of my day in the store???? Beware of "revisions"! Also, watch to make sure your coupons double...one of my fellow bargain buddies in KY was using her coupons and NONE OF THEM WERE DOUBLING! Watch carefully for revisions and register errors...and HAVE FUN ladies!

I don't think anyone knows for sure what stores are doubling. The ad comes out on Thursday, so you will then be able to check it and see if your local Kmart is participating. HTH!
