I read this on another board. Scanapix is having a 100 Free scans for $10 shipping costs. You register with them, sign up for 100 scans- it shows $25- then the next page you add coupon code CLOVER- it takes the $25 off and just charges the $10 postage. I sent the first 100 in Friday. I will be interested to see how they come out. I want to get a few Artscow books finished before my free ones expire. I also sent in some old pictures which are starting to fade and need to be in a digital format. The idea of taking all my non-digital prints out of all our albums makes me weak!

I had intended to use Scanmyphotos- they will do a box for $125. They estimate that the box will hold 1500 photos. This is my attempt to get my toe wet!

I sent my 100 photos on Friday via US mail. I got a email saying the photos were received and being processed on Tuesday. On Wed, I got an email saying the photos were on their way back via fedex. Fedex tracking site says they should be here Saturday! Pretty darn good. I will let you know. For St Louis area people, I called my local Creve Coeur Camera. They offered a $1/scan + $4 per cd! After some extensive conversation, they also offer a "shoebox" (1000) for $89. And, the photos stay right here in St Louis. I am starting to pull photos for that offer, too. Some of my really old albums- the ones with the "magnetic" pages, mostly, are nearly useless. I can't get the photos out without tearing them. Byb bye old photos! This brings home the reason why it is important to do this project.
