| How much of each size diaper should I stock up on??
Ok so I just found out I am pregnant and decided to stock up on the diapers. I have two sons' ages 3 and 4 but seriously its been about a 1 1/2 years since either have been in diapers, and I have no clue on how many of each packs to buy. I don't want to end up with tons too many of any one size diapers but I don't want to have to spend a lot on diapers once the baby is born either. I started with this Walgreen deal so far I have 7 size one 8 size two and 13 size 3. I will be going to Walgreens again this week but am trying to figure out how many packs of each size should I buy; this week from Walgreens and all together before the baby is born. Thanks for any advice!! |

I never bought the newborn either. My girls both were born being in size one. Honestly I found that size 3 and 4 were the ones they were in for the longest amount of time. Congrats btw.

I'm not a good one to ask because my 2 year old only weighs 19 lbs. But I would say 3 and 4 would be the one you would use the most. But also if your baby outgrows what you have just see if you can return them for the bigger size.

I have a 6 month old and 3 year old. We primarily cloth diaper, but I had forgotten how many they go through in the beginning. I think for the first month you should plan on 8 diapers a day and then 6 a day after that. You can try and guesstimate based on your older child's growth. We only used 2 packs of newborn (we didn't cloth in the very beginning- too tired for the extra laundry ) and then moved right into size ones. Also, remember a little bigger is better than a little small....small = leaks!

We used mostly 4's then 3's. Only used maybe 1 pack newborns.

Wags NB diapers are SMALL, really really small. Unless you have a very tiny baby, I don't recommend them. The 1s are pretty small too. My almost-2 month old is getting too big for them already. Stocking up on 3s and 4s is your best bet. Congrats!

Walgreens do run small, especially if the baby is long through the torso area. DD was out of newborn size (Pampers) within 2 weeks. Size 1 for probably about 2 1/2 months. Currently still in size 2 of Pampers. She outgrew Walgreens brand size 2 quite some time ago, at least a month ago. DD is 6 months old. Last edited by jenbob31905; 03-02-2009 at 10:59 AM. |

Keep in mind that a lot of boys are in diapers for almost 2 years (some longer). I hear that girls get potty trained sooner. So if you are on average going through a package a week, times that times 2 years and thats the maximum you might need.

DD is 27 pounds, and will be 2 on the 20th (yippie!). She's been in size 4's forever! I would agree with at least 30, possibly more... Congrats!

Walgreens brand do run small though I never used them when my girls were tiny, just started using them the past few months and my dd is 18 months old. My girls did all use the size 3's and 4's longer. My 18 month old wears size 6's in walgreens brand.

My 7 month old has been in size 3 the longest and I figure she will be in them for some time. Something to remember for this fall is that the day after Thanksgiving Babies r Us sold huge boxes of diapers (270 ct) for $10 and wipes (480 ct) for $5 limit 3 on each. I am hoping they do this deal again....I just ran out of the diapers and still have one box of wipes left!

Size 3 is the longest stage (as of now) for DS. Since Wags dipes tend to run smaller than the Huggies we're used to, we have to buy a size up.

My son is 15 months and we have been in 4's since Dec. He weigh's 24lbs. He will be in 4's for a long while. They still overlap a tad. That is the size I am stocking up on. 5's seem so far away for us--

My first DS born 8lbs used abt 2 jumbos of Newborn size dipes so I only stocked 3 for DS # 2. Now DS2 born 5lbs 12oz will be 4wks tom, less than 7lbs and still in N size. I've used 5 jumbo packs already. It all depends on how big your baby is going to be. DS1 is in size 4 and will probably end there. He used size 3 from 7 mos til 23 mos.

I think it all depends on your child. I tried to be smart and stock up on diapers. I bought about 12 packs of size one and 12 packs of size 2. Well, my DS was 11# when he was born. He was in size 1 for about a month. I used most of my size 2's (but had about 2 packs left over) and he's been in size 3's forever now. I bought a ton of them and a bunch of size 4's too. My son's now 11 months old and 24#.

Here's what my stockpile looked like. DS was 6 lbs 5 oz at birth and is now about 12 lbs at 2 months. Preemie-1 Newborn-6 Size 1-15 Size 1/2 (CVS brand)-1 Size 2-16 Size 3-27 Size 4-6 Size 5-1 Size 6-1 Pull Ups-4 We still have 6 packs of 1's (3 wags brand) and the wags ones are getting tight...not sure if we'll use them all or not. Keep your receipts and exchange for a different size if needed.

Size 3 and 4 are definitely the ones to stock up the most. I try not to buy more than one newborn pack at a time b/c they grow so fast.

I may be the only one here, but I say size 5's!! I know that my son can be in 4's because he's in the 25-27 lb area and is 21 months, but we went to size 5's for a little while and I just can't go back. Like someone else said though - buy whatever you can now and if you need to return them for a different size, you should be able to since it's their brand of diapers. My son wasn't in 3's for as long as some people, but I'd prefer a little big to small, so I opt to go up a size before I have to. Congrats

With my son, I got the Supreme diapers, and we only used them during the daytime. (Pampers at night). I got a stack of each size about waist-high. That was not enough! I recommend getting TWO stacks at least waist high. Keep your receipts, and if you end up not using all of them, I'm sure they will let you exchange later on!
