i went to cvs today to pick up some nyquil, this is a store i have been to like a million times...i asked one of the ladies a question about prices, and she said "im not sure but theres a scanner in aisle 5" WHAT??? you should have seen me hightail it over there, with 3 kids (all under 4) in tow, to stand there are stare at the infamous scanner. Those people must have thought i was nuts, i think i might have actually clapped when it started spitting coupons out at me. I think i might be addicted to this coupon thing LOL

I found ours on Sunday for the first time. My 3YO told me its for scanning to find the price. I was thrilled when it gave me two coupons.

What sort of coupons does it give??? I've been staring at ours for a while now, but I thought it was only for ECBs, and I was afraid to use it incase it messed up printing and I lost my ECBs. I didn't know it gave regular coupons too!!!! It's such a boring CVS week, but I think I'm going to go in this evening and see if they got any Gamers in (been out since the frist of the month =P) and check out this little scanner machine!

oh ashley the scanner thing is AMAZING!! so far what i've gotten is...

--$25 off new/refill prescription (pointless to me since we're military)
--$2 off any $10 CVS Brand Purchase (i've gotten like 4 of these)
--$1 off CVS Brand Multi-Vitamin (i've gotten like 4 of these i usually get them joined with the $2 off any $10 CVS brand purchase

then here's my favorite one that i just got...

--$5/$15 purchase!! this was my first $/$$ that i got that wasn't strictly CVS brand so yes i did a dance at the scanner =)

i scan my card EVERY single time i walk in the store it's the FIRST thing i do!!

You could still use that coupon for a giftcard w/ a prescription - If you get a prescription for something that will cost you less than $25 oop w/o having to use your insurance, it is still a good deal. There are lots of generics that will only cost you $5 w/o even using insurance. As long as you find one that you can get for cheap that way, then you would not be doing anything wrong by just paying for it w/o using your insurance and you could get the giftcard.

so i could sya get my prenatal vitamins and lets say they were $10 and use the $25 coupon and they'd end up giving me a $15 gift card??

Well you have to pay the $10 first then they give you the $25 giftcard...but these giftcards can also be used to pay for future rx...

For those of you who found their scanners. You should scan your card, this is how you get coupons, your ECBS, and your extra valuable $/$$ Qs. I so recommend it. If it messes up, don't leave the store, find a manager.

I ask the cashier today and she said she didn't know what I was talking about. I didn't have time to look around, just got what I needed and left.

Also, make sure to keep scanning until it tells you there are no more coupons! There have been times when I've scanned 3 or 4 time and each time got a new set of two or three coupons.

I've taken out my night table stuff and put all the deodorant I've now got stockpiled.........in case of natural disaster, I'll have the nicest pits around!!!

I didn't know how many I bought until I put them all together!! And, figured my husband would never look in my night table.

Heaven forbid, though, me dying in my sleep and the paramedic looking to see what drugs I take, little would they expect to find 16 deodorants, 20+ Halls and about as many emory boards!!!

But, I'll have Powder fresh pits, smooth nails and a coughless throat!

I discovered the scanner/coupon spitter outer thing too, last week, and used the $2.00 off CVS for the ear rinse, bought two of them at the same time @ 7.99 and used the $2.00 off, then got paid 15.98 in ECB for a 13.98 purchase!!!

LOL!!! I wouldn't doubt it!! I just moved from Guilderland and the clerks at the CVS in Rotterdam were CLUELESS!!!!

Our scanner machine recently acquired a red swirling, blinking light on top of it - think Police car style. (Like the old Blue Light Specials in Kmart!) I don't know how anyone could miss it.

My youngest keeps pointing and saying "Woo Woo!" (That's what our kids call emergency vehicles because of the sound they make, "woo woo trucks".)

Another important tip I learned from AFC -- don't just scan your card once... keep scanning it until the screen tells you to come back tomorrow. Sometimes it will keep spitting out 2-3 at a time until I have 10.
