| curiosity about doublers...
I'm curious to know what you experience at Albies with doublers. When Albertson's has their own doublers out, it does say 4 doublers per day per family. BUT, Safeway's is per visit and I think Thriftway's does also. I am new here and was looking through threads from the last couple of weeks and came across one where the shopper had like 11 transactions. Which is what I do! BUT, my Albies seems to change the rules every day. I used to do 3-4 transactions a day, but now some of the checkers are policing me and said only 1 transaction per day...one lady actually told me to put my stuff back.....an entire cart full!!! So, what is your take on this? What do you do? |

I haven't had that problem yet. You know that I see that it is easier when I go early in the morning than later in the day. The checkers are nicer in the morning, maybe if you try going earlier in the day.

Here is an arguement: the stores make .08cents off each coupon that they take in. This is one of the incentives for the stores to accept coupons. Each coupon will be reimbursed by the company that issued that coupon. Therefore the store itself is not loosing ANY money for accepting coupons. On the contrary they may be pissing off a customer by telling them to put back their cart full of groceries. Another: the more product that albertsons pushes out the door the better deal they get on the product that is shelved in there store. If you haul out 100 cans of tuna your helping them reach a quota to get closer to a discount price that they will get to buy the product from the company to have it on their shelf. They can sell if for what ever price they want, but if they can order it for cheaper they will make more money off it. Less than 1% of the sunday coupon insert coupons are redemed. There is a reason that they put out some $350 billion in coupons last year. It is to be an insentive for buying. We certainly did not create the coupons ourselves, we are simply matching coupons to the store sales. The companies work these coupons and sales like a science and they know the potential of us getting things for free. They bank on the idea that the majority of our society is not going to spend their time using these coupons to their benifit, but they know some of us will. There is nothing wrong with using a coupon several times for what it was made for during a promotion. If they want to tell you that you can only have one transaction per day ask to see where that is written because other wise you may begin to feel that you are being discriminated against for your frugal practices. I hope that they are not assuming that you are in a certain financial class or that because of your race or creed that you are not given the same rights as all the other shoppers that come in. Some cashiers do begin to act like they are protecting their own pockets and it makes me mad!! ![]() I don't go to Albertsons to stock shelves. I hope you told her she could do it herself! If you have the option to bounce from one albertsons to the next, this would be the easiest. I have been fortunate enough to have possitive experience at our albertsons....our safeway however is another story.

just one more idea, what if you were making a cake or planning a party and you got home, or just out to the car and realized that you needed more? you have to wait until tomorrow to buy eggs for the cake? or to get more fruit roll up snacks for the kids?

As you do this more and more, you may find that you have your favorite cashiers. I actually tell my cashiers that they will be seeing again in five minutes or 8 more times today. usually they just laugh at me. You could ask to see the manager if you want to push for anything, and if the manager is an ***, you could ask the manager to write her name down for you because you want to make sure you have it correct for when you contact corporate for the treatment that you are recieving at the store that you would like to shop at. sorry this happened to you that really sucks!

Thank you tripletsnthree6!!! My Albies has become VERY frustrating for me! There are others I could go to but this one is 5 minutes from my house, where as the others are 20 minutes away. I would be happy to go to the others IF I had to go that direction in the first place. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I am VERY tempted to contact the store manager & corporate. I'm certain this has nothing to do with my financial class, race or creed. It's just the coupons. |

I figure it does'nt, but they are words that can be used to help others think of the actions that they are taking and how their actions could be interpreted. It is frustrating when cashiers think that its there job to police a situation that they clearly have not educated themselves on. I think they really believe they are doing what they "think" is right, but its frustrating for those of us that actually take the time to learn about coupons and how they work....especially when they start treating you like your a shoplifter. grrr
