Idea ECBs for OTC with prescription?

I have no idea the answer to this, so I wondered if any of you might know: Can you get ECBs on an item that has a deal for the over-the-counter product, but you have a prescription for it?

My daughter has a prescription for Miralax. I haven't filled it yet and see that its going to be giving out $3 ECB in two weeks. I can wait to fill it for two weeks if we'll get the ECBs. The prescription goes through my insurance, so it will be a $5 co-pay and if it kicks back $3 ECBs -- I'll be thrilled. I've noticed the Miralax has deals every month or two, so if I time it right that would be a great thing. But I'm wondering it would work.

Thinking this through, because I've never purchased an OTC item with a prescription...

They will still have to make up a prescription tag for it since it will go through insurance, so I'll bet that they'll never scan the actual product UPC code, therefore no ECB's will kick out.

Is that the way it works with an OTC product script?

Hmm. I have no idea on this one. Let us know how it works. Most insurance companies will not cover OTC items.

Hi, i'm a pharmacy tech at CVS. There is an OTC Miralax and a prescription Miralax. So if you decide to fill the prescription one, you wouldn't be able to get any ECB

Thanks -- I really appreciate knowing this. Now there is no need to wait to fill the script. A bit of a bummer, but no major loss!!!
