| CVS matches Competitor's Prescription Coupons
Our CVS has a big banner out front that the honor all competitor's prescription coupons. So I brought in a Walgreens $25 Transferred prescription coupon, and they wouldn't take it. The pharmacist said "That's a Walgreen's coupon, we can't take that." I reminded him about the big banner out front, and he said it didn't have the kind of barcode he could scan, so he wouldn't take it. Has anyone else tried this? Shouldn't they have taken it?

The manager will probably have to come up and handle it himself. Cashiers/pharmacists/whatever often can only take what scans, so competitor's coupons have to be done manually by a manager/supervisor.

I do this all the time. There is a special code they put in and its ok. It usually takes a few minutes for them to call help and figure it out.

I use competitor Q's at my CVS all the time. It doesn't make sense to me that a Wags Q should be scannable at CVS. You should have been able to use the Q reguardless of whether it scanned or not. I'd call the SM on this one.

I hope it works as I have a medicine that I take every day and we are tranfer it from Walgreen to CVS. I gave hubby the Rite aid $30 RX transfer coupon to use it at CVS because of the sign in the front window. Hope they horror as I could use that gift card.

I used to be a pharmacy tech at our local CVS, and yes, we always took competitor coupons. Yes, we always had to call management because we had to have either a scanable code or manager approval ( manager entered manual code) to get the register to load the giftcard. Our CVS has also always price matched the cheap generics offered at walmart and other places. The pharmacist has to override the price for these, and you have to ask for it, they don't do it automatically.

Yes, my CVS has stopped accepting these coupons because people are transferring their subscriptions around just for the gift cards ... well DUH.

I just did it today and it was on a new script, but they'll accept it on any new OR transferred script at my CVS. The girl just had to type in a code into the register that she got off a paper that was taped to the main register. I got my $25 gift card!

The CVS closest to me will DEFINITELY NOT match competitors coupons (the ones for a free gift card with transferred prescription. I was told that it is up to the manager if they except them, by the manager herself.

All the stores have codes at the register to deal with competitor coupons, and who ever is back there can do it.

| Um I would call cs about that because its not up to the store mgr. The front end and pharmacy are 2 different things they each of there own rules to play by. The mgr. has no control over the pharmacy the PIC does.
