On Friday I bought 2 Soliel razor refills using the Wags promo of BOGO and 2 manu coupons for 3/1. It worked fine. Today I went to buy 8 of the Almay makeup removers for 5.99. I used the Wags promo of BOGO and tried to use 8 2/1 coupons. After 4 coupons though the register beeped. Can anyone tell me why one senerio worked and one didn't?

Hmmmmm do you know how it originally rang up? I honestly have no clue. However, they might have changed the registers. Honestly im unsure. Anyone else?

The refills rang up 1 at 6.99 and 1 at 0.00. I'm assuming the Almay would ring up the same since it was the same store.

I've mentioned it in other threads, there are several ways BOGO rings up and depending on how it rings up will determine how many coupons register will take.

in this case if it rang up:

almay 1 = 5.99 BGLP
almay 2 = 5.99 BGLP
you can use 2 coupons for this @ $2 each from the KMart beauty book and most likely register will take both. this is the way the Maybelline lip products on BOGO sale rang up last night and I had no problems with them until the last hour. register took them all w/o a problem.

the free will be taken off at the end so its like paying 2/$1.99 for 2 bottles of make up removers. (btw, these are very good, I got them free at KMart during doubles)

if your items rang up 5.99 and 0.00, and you bought 8, the register would usually just take 4 coupons, it will not take a coupon for the item(s) that rings up 0.00 although some are reporting that some cashiers push it through although per corporate policy, NO coupons are taken for items that ring up 0.00

if they rang up BGLP, I don't know why only 4 coupons were taken if you bought 8. 8 items were scanned at full price so it should take 1 coupon per item and its only at end of receipt after cashier hits total are the frees taken off.

btw, I do a price check at the register prior to checking out to see how BOGO sale rings up so I know how many coupons to use or if I still want to buy the items. this also helps a lot for computation when you need to reach a certain amount.

This may seem like a super dumb question but how do you have them do this? Do they ring it up like its a sale?

I didn't work at walgreens but when I worked at a grocery store, we had a price check button and we would scan the item and clear it.

its not a dumb question, there is a button on the register to check price and then void it if you're not buying item.

when its BOGO sale, all I'm checking is whether the letters BGLP will come up and then I'm sure I can use 2 coupons on items. if BGLP doesn't come up, more likely the second item will ring up 0.00 or

sometimes it will ring up strange prices like 2.99 for first item and sale price is 2/$3 BOGO so I know the 2nd will ring up .01 then I decide on whether I still want to buy items.

OK so you just watch the screen for the price or words BGLP. I'll try that. Thanks

Yes it will say right after the item BGLP
although i am not sure WHY it wont let you use them esp since they usually ring up that way here ( with the BGLP at the end) but if its not that might be why its not letting you use more coupons

yeah, all I'm checking is whether the magic letters BGLP will come up.

most often, if there's no BGLP, I have an idea how it will ring up and I know I can't get them cheap/free.
