Question about peelies ... A lot of talk about peelies was going on on the WAGS forum this week too ... When you guys find peelies on products, do you take them off without buying the product? I never do because it seems like it would be stealing. What is everyone's take on this? Just curious. |

Just my opinion....but I would say the coupons are for the item WHEN you buy it, not to collect off each product and use later. It does seem like it would be stealing to me.....but maybe I just haven't been "enlightened". It will be interesting to hear other people's opinions on this subject!

| Great find!! I will be on the lookout. While on my trip to Kmart today, there are peelies on some of the J&J products and they were all gone. Someone pulled them all off.

I will be the first to admit that I pull peelies off but only if I know that I buy that product later for sure. I look at it this way not every person that buys that product uses the coupon I know it sounds stupid but not everyone cares about coupons just like the catalinas not every one uses them. I don't pull every peelie I usely pull 2 or three. That is what I did today at Kmart on the razors and no I don't feel bad it will save me money next time I buy the refills for the razors. I don't think it is stealing I am not taking the product just the peelie on it. It's know different then there being a tearpad in front of a product and you tearing them off for using later of the product only difference is its on the actual product.

I take the peelie off of something i know i'll be buying later also. I don't take more than one or two though. It's not like i go through the store looking for them, it's only once and awhile.

People will learn not to take without buying the products. More companies are putting them inside the item than they did 2 years ago because of this. I also know a few who no longer put them out at all. In a few states it can be considered stealing.

Stealing what? A coupon! I don't understand how that is stealing is it stealing if you tear off a coupon from a tearpad that is in front of the product or if there is a blinkie in front of it. The only difference I see is where the coupon is placed. Its funny that people won' t admit to taking a few peelies but they will take a few coupons from a tearpad or blinkie. Am I right here? I do agree though if the companies don't want people to take the peelies to put it in the product.

IMHO... A peelie is on a product that is intended for sale. That product is not mine until I buy it. I don't peel them until I buy it or in the process of buying it. A tearpad coupon is seperate from a product and is not intended for sale, but as a free offering. I can have that. My question to those who take the peelies and run... When you return to buy the product, do you buy the ones that someone else took the peelie from? |

I know for me, If I buy a Ton of something like Pepsi or Coke.. we go through 3-4 12 pcks a week, I take them. I do feel guilty for taking them because someone else does not get a chance to take advantage of this, but beore I started couponing I NEVER used the coupons on the product, it always slipped my mind when I was at the register. And honestly, I do not think companies care.. if you have a coupon for something then you are buying there product.. the more coupons you have the more product you will buy and if you are happy with that product you will buy it agian.. coupon or not! I've taken peelies before. No more than 5 because I feel guilty... but the ones I took were off the Jimmy Dean Breakfast Bowls and I used them when I purchased more. I have taken them off a few other items before... but I don't go searching for them and I don't take them all... I just take what I can reasonably use before expiration. Kim

Fist off I don't run when I take a peelie because I have done nothing wrong. Second the tearpad is for the product that is for sale you can use it for the purchase NOW and the peelie NOW. You can also take another one off of the tearpad for later. Right? And yes I have bought things that the peelies were off of. Sometimes there are items that I didn't even know there was a peelie on it so I don't even look at the product. If you peel one off of the product you are buying and nothing more then that is your business but stop making others feel like they are doing something wrong. I don't stand there taking every peelie off of each product just a couple. It's not like I am taking them all.

I think in the near future we will be seeing a lot more "Void unless removed by cashier" peelies. (Not that the cashiers take the time to read that) I personally limit myself to one peelie pull on an item. And I still feel guilty when I take that. But, I feel the same way with wine tags... go figure. |

Looks like we may have to "agree to disagree". Seems as if everyone is ready to stand by their decision to pull or not to pull.....but if I see you in the aisle pulling peelies off products you're not going to buy, I might give you a dirty look. |
