| What do you buy at Sams??
We just had a Sams open up and my friend and I split a membership.. so I'm wondering what items are cheaper to buy at sams?? I remember reading somewhere on this forum that they usually have good tire prices?? We have three kids so bulk is good LOL

I just got a 10 week trial membership for $10, I used to belong to Costco but figured I would check Sams out for a while.....You can ask them if you can come in to look and not buy anything to see if it would benefit you.

I already got the membership because my friend was buying one and just added me on without even asking me.. gotta love her.. so I told her I'd give her some money for it.. We went on opening day and it was really nice, we got a bunch of free samples and free food inside.. but time was short so I didn't get to look around. |

I have alwasy wondered why people shop at Sams. I guess if you have a very large family it works for you or if you hate to shop and coupon, then you go once a month and that's all. I have talked to my friend about this, she shops so much there and tried to tell her that if she would coupon more she would save so much more money than at Sam's. I used to work there so I've seen what people buy. Some things can be cheaper there but mostly its the same and I've discovered that Walmart sells some bulk items for just a few cents more than sams. So tell us what you get there and how much it is compared to other stores because I may just join if it will save me alot of money. |

I always buy....... frozen meatballs at like $7 -$8 a bag (my ds eats them breakfast, lunch and dinner!) Taquitos $7.00 a gianormous box country crock butter in a tub fresh meat, country ribs are usually like $7 a big ole pack, chicken is cheap there too. You just have to watch what you buy and if it is really cheaper to buy it in bulk. Like a bought campbells chicken noodle soup...I think it is a 12 pack for $7.00 saved me at least $5. And they usually have good holiday buys too...like toys, movies and books, video games etc. Only bad thing is they don't take coupons!!!! |

The one thing that I always bought there was formula...Store brand was like $20 for this huge container...even with formula checks I couldn't get it cheaper at a regular store. (especially good when you don't get enough formula checks)...I did buy somoe diapers and wipes cause it did work out pretty well but then I started shopping at CVS and pretty much get my diapers for free so stopped buying it there... Also the produce is really cheap there and milk I always buy a few gallons when I go can't get it cheaper anywhere else. I also check the clerance section. After winter last year I found carter sleepers for $1... At xmas times toys are cheap. I also like to buy food from there take out counter...i think it is $2 for a hotdog and large drink...can't go wrong with that. Also beer and wine are good deals. As for everything else I can usually buy it on sale with a coupon for cheaper (or with EB at CVS). |

Produce and milk. Milk is definitely much cheaper there than anywhere else here.

About the only thing I really bought there when I had a membership was meat. They have the BEST pork loin - I'd get the butcher to cut mine and get about 24-30 chops for about $17.

I buy milk there every week. Also, kids PJ's there are much less than say, Kohl's for the EXACT same thing. I buy my coats there a lot, hamburger, chicken, baking potatoes, frozen dinosaur chicken nuggets, tilapia, romaine lettuce (a huge bag for around $3.00), tennis shoes, towels, some toys, books, Life Cereal (cause I can never find a coupon for it), eggs.........etc.,........

Cheese - Sam's blows my Wal-Mart & Dillon's out of the water on cheese. Milk Produce I also just picked up a huge bag of French's Fried Onions. They only carry this around the holidays. It was $5.xx and a small can even w/ coupon is $2.50. There are 4 cans worth in this bag. If you go to SAM'S CLUB and select your store you can search their inventory on-line with prices. |

Sam's is one of the three places I shop at weekly. They regularly have the best prices on eggs, milk, frozen chicken breasts (IQF) & shrimp, bread, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, pre-cleaned lettuce, altoids, and clothing (and I mean name-brand stuff, not generics). If you like fresh mozzarella, our favorite thing there is the Bel Gioioso mozzarella. They sell 2 lbs at a time for just under $8, and at regular grocery 1/2 lb. is $5.00!!! Plus it's SO much better. I don't think they have good prices on much else. Their baby diaper and wipes, paper towels/toilet paper and alcohol are pretty much the same price as a grocery store, and they don't accept coupons. Also, beware of shopping too much in bulk. I've had MANY trips where I've spent $200+ when I thought I was spending half that. |

Ditto on the spending too much...when we first went hubby and I spend like $350...this was before we were into couponing...we did get some good deals on drinks...or so we thought until I started couponing and tuff... I always try to add up my cart as I go but sometimes it is hard. Noncoupon stuff is the way to go. Like produce meats dairy. Although sometimes be careful buying in bulk. A few weeks ago I got a great deal on avacodos. $5 for a bag and there was 6 in the bag so less then $1 a piece (and my grocery store will have then for $1 but they are never good)...but we ended up only using 3 before they went bad...so not such a great deal...but usually I make a point to use it all up. |

I buy Produce, Milk, Meat and couple of things I never find good deals on that we use a lot. Like Ketchup. We can go through 1 big bottle of Ketchup a week. When I do find a deal with coupons I stock up.

Another thing I forgot to mention is seasonal stuff...hot cocoa for example. Last year we got a Land O Lakes sampler...includes Dark and Milk Choc, Raspberry, Caramel, Mint and Butterscotch in each box. For about $8...awesome stuff...awesome price.

Milk Shredded Cheese--mozzerella & cheddar--separate into ziplocs and freeze Strawberrys-in season Shredded parmasean cheese--I keep it in the freezer Feta cheese--keep it in the freezer Hamburger and hot dog buns--I freeze what we can't use right away Occasionally wine Rawhide dog bones clearance clothing--I recently got a nice swimsuit for $11.81--would cost at least $60 @ Dillards Frozen toasted Ravioli Pancake syrup--I reuse a 24oz container, since the syrup comes in a gallon size. Definitely much cheaper per ounce. Salmon If you are a business member, you can get in early and get specials on marked-down meat. Sometimes they still have markdowns left when they open to the public. I used to always get peanut butter there, but not since I started hard-core couponing! |

Milk, I just wish they had organic, been talking to them about this for awhile now produce like berries and others esp. in the winter when the famers' markets are closed love the seasonal stuff, really high end patio set on clearance for $400, was $1600! baby clothes/kids clothes when on clearance, otherwise carter's and TCP outlets are better w/ coupon eggrolls, my hubby loves these 20 or 25 ct. for around $9. Do you know how much those cost in 4 pack boxes and they are actually really good, but not on my diet meat, when I can't get it else where, agree that I love the pork loin, get it cut to 2'' chops, yum eas shakes for around $20 case, so much cheaper than anywhere else love the seasonal decorations, can't wait for the Christmas to get reduced, they usually do this several weeks b/f the actual holiday, right now Thanksgiving/Autumn is on sale by about a third NEVER EVER buy tp, paper towels, diapers, wipes, hba items, etc. there, so much more than wags, cvs, even walmart |

In addition to what others have mentioned: Aquafina water Chicken fried rice (don't know if it is cheaper, but it is good and each box has two packs in it, so you don't have to make a huge thing of rice)
