Earlier went to get a couple of the beauty bars. I had 5.79 in ECB so I planned on getting 5 of them and some candy (of course) well I ended up getting 2 single bars (all they had) and a two pack (smelled like melon something..mmm) and a couple other things. Anyway, that would be 3 ECBs. I guess he thought I didn't "know" about them because before my receipt even had a chance to print he said OK, thanks bye...as if to rush me out the door. I stood there and waited another second and he said it again. I said you didn't give me my receipt and I will be getting more ECB he said OK...by this time it had printed and he gave it to me..odd????

Yeah it was really odd...I hardly ever even go in that store and I wasnt using any other coupons or anything...perhaps he is on drugs he did seem out of it..LOL

All my ecb's have the last 4 digits of my card # on them. I thought you could only spend them on the card they were earned on?

Was he new? Maybe he didn't know they printed at the end of the receipt. It's not like he could have used them unless he forced them thru. Very strange indeed.

I have had a store manager say he could use them even though I didnt have my card and my phone number I just wouldnt get any ecbs back. Lucky me though I found my card and he still had my items behind the counter.

Wonder if he was trying to keep them though? I thought the registers do tell them when q's, ecb's are about to print for us? My cashiers are always like "You have xxx amount of q's coming" before they print...?

They can over ride the register and use ECB's on another card. I had a cashier tell me they could do it.

LOL Unfortunately that doesn't always mean they know how to do what they are supposed to do. LOL One time in a Rite Aid my cashier had to call the mgr to help do a return and he had no idea how to do it. I had to walk him thru it. (I do NOT work for Rite Aid. LOL) I just had seen it done before.

Some posters have run into cashiers/managers that feel that couponers are undermining the store's system for making money. He may be one of those.

Or, he may have just thought that you didn't want them. I cannot tell you how many times I've watched people in line toss their ECBs and $ off Qs as they walk out the door. These people far outnumber us.

You never know. He could have been trying to keep them or just have spaced out at the end of a long day???

Last night I stopped at CVS to get the fusion, diet coke and some milk. When I got the front to check out, I saw it wasn't the young guy that's usually there, it was an older guy. Uh oh, right? Sure enough, he scrutinized all my q's and even asked a manager if they could take them (they were all legit!). Manager said yes and at the end, a whole bunch of crt's printed: 3/15, 1 off 3 toothbrushes, 4 fusion and 3 coke ecbs and another ecb that CS had credited to my account. He was like "that's too many ecb's!". I just smiled real big and said "there's no such thing as too many ecb's!" If you smile real big, it just confuses them!! Manager was still there so I made a point of saying that they ECBs were why I was shopping there, that they were really helpful, etc... Kill 'em w/kindness, right?
