| Help Me Figure Out the W Brand Card Deal!
Thanks to devitodesigns statement in the 5/20 Scenario thread: "Don't forget you can get 10% kickback on your next purchase of Walgreen branded items using the WCard - just purchase one at the pharmacy for $20.00 save your receipts until you get the card and enter online - I did and had saved $14.80 in just the 12 days til I got my card - THE BEST PART - purchase Walgreens reloadable gift card but swipe wcard first and it loads money on it immediately - ie: swipe wcard - then purchase a $20 gift card and you get $2 on the wcard! amazing! SO YOU CAN ALL GET AN ADDITIONAL 10% - tell me this isn't good!?" Please offer insight/opinions on the deal as I see it: *The W Card is the Walgreen's prescription/Walgreen's brand card that saves you 10% on all Walgreen's brand items. *I don't remember what the prescription benefit is, but the pharmacy clerk who explained it to me said it does not work in conjunction with your insurance prescription benefit (so would not save me any $ on Rx). *The card costs $20 per year. *If you can purchase Walgreen's gift cards and receive 10% on those as well, after purchasing $200 in gc you have made your money back on the card, and real savings kick in. *I don't typically buy Walgreen's brands, just because national brands usually offer better savings w/rebates & coupons. But the regular 10% benefit on the card would pay for sales tax + 2%, plus the extra 10% off the gift card...some WG products may be great deals w/both 10% discounts. *Once you buy the card, do you think they'd be able to change the benefits down the road, i.e. fixing the 10% off gift card glitch (if that's what it is)? *If I bought $40 gc each month for 5 months, I'd hit the $200 threshold and $40 should more than cover my WG oop each month (I also do my rebates as gc). *Can you submit 1 receipt online for both the W Card for Walgreen's branded items and the ES rebates, or will that freak the system out? Thanks. *Can you buy gift cards for other stores using a regular Walgreen's gift card (I think the ones they send us for rebates don't work on gift cards for other stores?) I'm interested in this, as well. I don't buy Walgreen's branded items usually, but if I could save a % on other items, it would be worth it. Thanks for asking this question.
