I went to CVS today hoping to get some deals. There, I saw a few cosmetic on clearance for Revlon. A lot of the make up for on sale for $1.67, $3.24, $3.67. Grabbed a few items from the clearance and two Revlon nail polish. Next, proceeded to the check out and the cashier scanned all the items. I gave her the coupons and she said I couldn't use the $2 off any Revlon cosmetic on the clearance item because they had to manually type in the price. So therefore, no Revlon item would show on the computer and that they couldn't use the coupon unless if they ring it up as original price of $12 dollars. I'm not to familiar with using coupon since I am a newbie. Can someone tell me if this is correct? Also, they said I couldn't use the $2 off ANY Revlon cosmetic on my nail polish because it is only for "cosmetic" not "nail care". It doesn't seem quit correct to me since the coupon doesn't have any restriction on clearance items. Or maybe they're right... Can someone help?? THanks! |

My favorite store does accept coupons on clearence items. The cashier will scan the bar code, then over ride the price. I have read that people have had issues with the $2 Revlon coupon lately. Are you using the one with the picture of the nail polish, or the one from a couple weeks ago? |

I emailed CVS recently and according to corporate they will take coupons for clearance, but they will adjust the coupon down to what the price is (if applicable). I suggest emailing them and asking for a copy. While it won't change what happened, in the future you can just whip out a copy of the email. |

I had an issue with coupons on clearance a few weeks ago. The cashier did not know what to do, and called a manager. The manager told me that clearance is a "special offer," and I told her she was wrong. Then she told me I could use the coupon, and she would give me only part of the value! I told her that she would give me the entire value, since when they send it to be redeemed they will get the entire value. She unhappily then did give me the entire value of my coupons. Same cvs a few days ago, I used coupons on clearance, the cashier was a younger guy and he wasn't sure how to ring it at first (they just do taxable item and price for clearance) and I explained that I had used coupons on clearance before, and they just typed it in as a CVS coupon..he did that with no problem. Yesterday I bought a clearance item (no coupon though) and they scanned the barcode and manually entered the price override...in that case it would be easy and no hassle to use a coupon, as the brand will show on the receipt. I guess it is all in how they ring the clearance item and how coupon friendly the cashier or manager is. |

I have never had a problem using a coupon for clearance at CVS. The cashier just manually enters the coupon.

My understanding of CVS policy is that they allow you to use q's on clearanced items, but do not allow for overage they just "adjust" the q price. I would call cs and verify. As for the Revlon q's, that really seems to be YMMV, they have different bar codes and will beep, CVS policy is not to push through q's that beep. If you got last weeks Rev q's though, they have a pic of the polish right on them, so those should work, I mean how can they argue with that? Sorry you had a rough time!

I think it depends on your store, mine does but not for more than the amount, but that's fine with me I got little swimmers for .89 minus the 1.25 making them free, once they adjust the coupon down.

Ok I have a question then, let's say I got a nail polish on clearance for 1.50 and had a 2 dollar coupon for revelon. If they price adjust the coupon, they still get the full amount for the coupon when they send it into the manufacturer right? there isn't a place to write if they adjusted it on the coupon. So they are actually making money off of us if I understand this correctly.

Yes. Its why some people feel entitled to overage, while others argue that overage shouldn't be expected and to just be happy with free. |

I went back to CVS and told them about overriding it. They told me it CANNOT be done UNLESS if one of the CSR from CVS calls them to authorize it. Does this sound weird??

My store does except coupons on clearance, but .... we have a new cashier and that acted all excited about who low my total was and I bought clearance items too. She asked me could I share with her on the x/xx coupon because they cannot not sign up for them but can use them if they can get one so I had an extra one on hand and told her she could have that one because it was giong to expire soon and needed to be used and acted all excited but a little fake acting. This is my favorite store and the other cashiers and managers are soo nice to me when I come in and know that my dh delivers there coke. Well that same afternoon after I left dh said that the same new cashier was talking about a lady that comes in a gets everything for almost free and uses all these coupons and it got on her nerves that the lady used them on clearance too. Dh thinks that lady was me because I had been there about 1 hour before hand. Anyhow, I think that the coupons can be used on clearance but maybe they just dont like it that it comes to almost free!
