| CVS did not want to give me all of my change
I went to cvs this afternoon to pick up a perscription. I bought a few things and my total was $3.45. I handed cashier a $10 she gave me $1.55 back. I knew it was a $1o because I just went to the bank and got $10 cash out. I had no other cash. Anyway, cashier argued and insisted that I gave her a $5. I explained that I was positive it was a $10 and nicely asked her if they could count the drawer and check. After a few minuted she agreed to. The manager counted and sure enough the drawer was over. But, it was only over $4.22. So, she wanted to give me $4.22 back. I said no. I want the whole $5 back. It was not my error and that my change should have been $6.55 but she did not want to give it to me. Finally after arguing with her for 3 minutes over my change she gave it to me. I had only been to this cvs 1 other time. I understand that people make mistakes and that is fine, but to argue with me about giving me my whole amount of change back when they made the mistake. GRRRRR

This is crazy, how can she penalize you for her mistakes... Anyway, I have the exact same experience. I was shopping on Labor day, and the poor manager only by herself because of the holiday. The line was so long, and I waited till all the customers were gone, then I did my 3 transactions (don't want to overwhelm her). I remember my last transaction requires $1.xx something, and I don't have any more change so I hand her my only $10 bill. Then I went to another stores to get grocery. When I'm ready to pay, and I have no more money in my wallet. So I know for sure the manager forgot to give me back my change. I went back to the store, and she took my words for it (even I left the store for 15 minutes) and gave me back my change.

That stinks, I understand mistakes are easy to make, but she shouldn't have argued that I should only give me $.22 back because that is all the drawer was over. Do they realize how much stuff you can get for that $5!!!! LOL

Happened to me a couple weeks ago and I said just wait until the end of the day, no big deal, but he was so sorry and said no, called the manager and they counted his drawer, I had given him 20. and got change for 10.00. I got my 10.00 back, no problem.

I can't believe they were only going to give you the amt. they were over in the drawer...What if you said they owed you $5 and they found they were over by $10 in their drawer..would they give you the $10 because that was how much they were off by? Obviously the cashier had made another mistake in giving change that day also...fortunately for you, you noticed the discrepancy and had it taken care of. Stinks that they argued with you over it!

Glad you made them count the drawer, that is the right thing to do! Cashiers are people too and make mistakes, it's just unfortunate when they cannot admit the possibility of having made one. Sorry for your experience, glad it worked out in the end!

OMG! That is horrendous! What a way to be treated! I can't believe the manager argued with you about that. Obviously if the cashier made a mistake on YOUR change being returned, its also possible that he/she made a mistake on SOMEONE ELSE's change being returned. Hence the $4.xx difference in the drawer! I'm glad you stuck to your guns on that! You go girl!

every retail or grocery store that I have worked at,,,, told me to "lay" the bills on the keyboard so there was no doubt what was given. and if someone disputes... pull the till immediately, head to the office, count it but most importantly.... DO NOT ARGUE!!! |

Sorry you were treated that way! Glad you got your $5 back. I agree with the above poster, my first job was as a cashier and I was taught to lay the bill sideways on the drawer itself, make change, hand it to the customer and then put the bill in the drawer lastly. I never had any problems doing it that way. If someone thought they had given me a different bill I could show them it laying right there on top. Everyone makes mistakes, but I can't believe they only wanted to give you 4.xx back. Geez!
