| Printable coupons
Question on using printable coupons at CVS. I had lots of coupons today 4 nestle $1, 4 buddies $1, GE nut, 3/15 CVS. When I handed the cashier the coupons, she held them up and was looking at them into the light. I asked what she was doing, and she said they were cracking down on internet coupons and she was not supposed to take copies. I said well I printed them all from 2 different computers, which I did. Some were black and white and some color. She just said she'll take them today, but not in the future. She would probably get yelled at. I explained that of course I did not want her to get into trouble, but they are all legitimately printed coupons. She then asked how many buddies I had I replied 4-handed me back 3 buddies coupons and one nestle coupon. I then paid for the rest in ecb, which I wasn't planning on doing. I didn't press the issue, since three people were behind me. The more I think about it the more upset I get, I was not "cheating" just being frugal with coupons. I check the coupon codes at ver-fi.com and they are all fine. So what's up? Does CVS only take color coupons?

its all up to your cashier...from my experience, the whole store does not operate by a certain policy - its whoever is ringing you up. There have been many reports in the last couple of weeks of cashiers taking only 1 manu Q per each type of item. If you had 4 buddies Qs, they probably said 1 per customer on the Q...so thats probably where she was going with that but if she gave you back all 4 Qs then she didnt even use 1...She obviously wasnt having a good day! I had this happen to me last weeked. BUT I have since been back to the same store, gotten checked out by a different cashier and was able to use multiple of the same Qs. Its whatever mood they are in at the time I guess! One thing I have noticed - most cashiers dont mind doing 1-2 transactions....but doing more than that they get picky on the Qs - only because you are taking up more of their time (my personal opinion only). Doing only 1 or 2 transactions usually allows you to get all Qs used. I have not heard anything about color Qs only ever on these boards. You just got unlucky with your cashier. |

I gave a color printed IP coupon the other day & the cashier put it through for me. It was one of those brick coupons that you print out too.

I think it all depends on the cashier. |

I guess I'm luck that I can use IP's at my CVS. Actually, CVS is only store I can use IP's at with no problems. Grocery stores I frequent do not accpet IP's, only exception is if its one of their store coupons.

Since I've started doing transactions in the evening vs. the daytime, I rarely have any issues using coupons. S

I'm very sorry you had this experience. I have also noticed that the cashiers are getting a little more ancy with internet coupons. This past Thursday I was asked if I copied my coupons because I had 6 Nestle $1 coupons and said copies are not allowed (she said it very nicely). I simply told her "No, they're not copied. I have friends and we exchange coupons. Doing stuff like that just makes it harder for the rest of us who are being honest." I also took the time to show her some of the other security features on the coupon such as the unique code and the tiny print on the border. No one was in line and I think educating the cashiers will help us in the long run. Anyway, one suggestion I would make would be to print all the coups in Black and White. It looks a little less "suspicious." After you're done printing, change it back to color. I hope you have better luck next time. |

It's crazy that we even have to go through the "will I get a good cashier" game. The training is clearly inadequate. When you're using legitimate coupons, according to the CVS coupon acceptance policies, there should be no reason to go through this. I agree w/the PP who mentioned educating the cashiers. But quite often it doesn't work out to be that pleasant. And really, we shouldn't have to. To PP: Buddies q's are $2/2 or $1/1 any Johnson's Buddies product. Most CVS's sell the bar soaps for around 99 cents. |

My two CVS stores both have signs up that they will only take 1 internet printable per transaction. Doesn't matter if you have different IP coupons for different things, they will only take 1. Really puts a damper on using $/off $$ coupons.

Mine is still taking them. I am dreading the day that they stop. Many of the really good deals are from the internet printed coupons. I am lucky for right now, mine has not changed anything as of yet. |

Mine still take them but they're getting more cautious about them. The cashier's examine each one carefully to make sure they have different barcodes. I tend to only use 2 of each type in 1 transaction anyways to not raise any red flags, even though I have access to 5 computers to print IP's from.
