| E-mail from Corporate--Response to whether $20 total for $5/$20 includes Mfr coupons
I don't get her answer to the BOGO question, but otherwise a good response I think! Dear Beverly XXXXXX, Thank you for taking your time to contact our Corporate Offices. We appreciate hearing from our customers and value all comments received. 1. When the $5/$20 coupon says total must be $20 after any coupons does that mean store coupons only or does it include manufacturer (MRF) coupons? My store today told me it includes MFR coupons, but that is ridiculous. You all get paid back for all Mfr coupons so why would you care if my total went under $20 after Mfr coupons? The total does not include manufacturer coupons. You may use as many of those as allowed per each coupon. 2. I was told I could not use the $5/20 and RRs in the same order. Your flyer always says use RR "on your next order like cash" so I think I should be able to use them both together. Register Rewards can be combined with manufacturer coupons for redemption purposes but the reward is not valid with other coupons for the same item. 3. If you have a sale where you are offering a product buy one get one free (BOGO) can I also use a mfr BOGO coupon for every 2 items I purchase? When using a Buy One Get One free coupon on a Buy One Get One free sale item, one item is being purchased while the two are free. A total of three items will be received. Only one coupon can be applied towards the purchase because only one item is purchased. Again, thank you for contacting our corporate office. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your comments. Sincerely, Anna K. Consumer Response Representative Ref # 1655527 |

I'm unclear on the BOGO response, it says a total of 3 items would be received, wouldn't it be 4 items received?

I would say he means you b1g1 from the store and with the coupon you get one more free. You are still paying for the "buy one" but you are getting two free instead of one extra free. Does that sound right? |

Everytime one of these letters is posted I copy it to a .txt and print it off to carry in my Walgreens folder. I'm going whip these out next time. I had our manager tell me that if the item was on sale BOGO {as I've explained she was convinced it was a manufacturer offer, the WAGS BOGO Sale price....} that I couldn't use an MQ....she said I could get 4, if I paid for two, one through the sale and then she'd price adjust the next 2 to account for my using a coupon, but that either way I'd only wind up paying for two and getting two free, not more. So frankly pay for one and get two free doesn't sound that bad to me. |

Ok, I'm going to give a shot at explaining why three items instead of 4 and here's a link to a reply I received from the same rep. http://www.afullcup.com/forums/walgr...corporate.html Here's what is happening: Scenario 1 a store Q is presented for a B1G1 you have one item you'll pay for and one item is free... you present a mfgQ for same item B1G1 the item you purchased for the 1st Q counts as this Q's purchased item and you get one more free one Hence Buy 1 get 2 free Scenario 2 the store has a sale on an item no Q necessary that is B1G1 you present a mfgQ for same item B1G1 Both items are free (I have two items essentially the store price is irrelevant when presented with the mfgQ) eg. of scenario 2 and WHY... Glade Plugins BOGO sale One rings up $4.79 One rings up $0 B1G1 MFGQ presented you have already bought one (it doesn't matter that the other one is free) therefore the price of that one is the price entered on Q as free item hence result is $0 +tax (The store is covering the first free one...usually by jecking the price up...and the MFG is covering the other free one) By the way if you'll show the people in the store that they make more than the face value off the Q's (fine print on Q's indicate how much the store gets in addition as a "handling fee") they usually become a little better about it.

You put 2 identical items on the counter, hand over a bogof manfctr. q, you get #2 item free & you pay for #1 item. Now, apply that to store sale of bogof & use manfctr. qs. That would be Four items, NOT two, you will have to BUY 2 items. One "buy" item for EACH deal: One for store sale & one for manfctr. q. Don't even try to mess up a cashier w this at Wags this wk on the Rimmel. Just use Wags deal, as it is the Same Deal as the Rimmel manfctr. q. Clear as mud, right?? Am I wrong? I still don't get the bogo3 description. Someone please use a better example, with labels, such as #1, #2, & #3 item/?? Thanjs, as I am going to Wags tmrw. the reason for three items has to do with who's covering what as far as the store and mfg are concerned same with the both items for free Item X1=$1 Item X2=$1 Store Q B1G1= -$1 (The store is covering the cost of the second item because you purchased the first) Item X3=$1 MFGQ B1G1= -$1 (You have already purchased one (X1) and Wag's COMBINES Store and MfgQ's therefore that item is used as the purchased one for this Q X3 is the free item covered by MFG) X1= purchased item for both Q's resulting in X2 and X3 being free The reason for this all goes back to how items are covered by the Q's. What Q or what offer is covering what item and its cost. Side note: Wag's isn't losing money on Q's or they wouldn't be doing this they are making it hand over fist even off of us because of the way coupons are handled and paid for my mfg's.

How are others going to handle this?? Is it a good idea to print this letter and show it to them, or will it only make them mad?? It seams like in the past the $5 coupon gets kickes out of the register 'automatically' if the total drops below $20. Oh what to do......... Thanks luvCoupons for sharing your letter with us!!!!!!

Even though your response says you can use a $5/$20 before manus, how is that possible as the register automatically kicks the coupon off if you go below $20 after manus?

I just got back from Walgreens. After reading this letter (and printing it out), I went with the $10/$40 coupon and a plan to have 40 after Wags coupons/before man. Cashier had to call the SM because she didn't know very much about coupons. He went and got the email that he had received this morning concerning the 10/40 coupon. It clearly stated that the 40 was after all coupons, even listing in parenthisis (sp?) manufacturer coupons.

The OP's response from WAGs on the BOGO is kind of ripping the consumer off (for lack of better wording) You are getting three but leaving the 4th one you could get that would ring up free at the store. Gee who looses out there. LOL.

I "bought" 38 Glade Scented Oil so far this week and I spent a total of SALES TAX only. They scanned my coupons with no problem at the first store but were hestitant at the second store. I had just read another thread where it said Walgreen's does accept BOGO on a BOGO sale so I told the asst. manager that and then said, I have no problem waiting until you can and coming back tomorrow so that you can call corporate and ask, but I just ask if you hold these in the office so that I don't lose out on the sale. She was very pleasant and said, No. I will just let you use them now because there is no telling if they will be here tomorrow when I come in.

| fired without warning? that's interesting. can you not go to corporate for a review of your termination so you know exactly for what reason(s)? IIRC, they have corporate policy to allow combining of one WAG roto ad coupon with a manufacturer coupon. that has been the policy for a long time UNTIL they changed the text of IVCs since July ES catalog. It now says manufacturer coupon good only at Walgreens. that is the basis of some stores for not allowing WAG coupons to be combined with mfr coupons. its still a YMMV, many stores still follow the old policy and AFAIK, there has been no revision to their policy since July 2008.

| I'm so sorry you lost your job, exactly what store in ST. Louis were you working in? Can you say, because I've been to at least 4 this week a couple of them probably twice. The one that I usually shop at the Manager always joke about my couponing with a smile he says to use them to my advantage as long as they scan and they always do.

I used the Glade BOGO coupon at Wags last week (I think) with their Glade BOGO. It was supposed to be 2 for $4.79. On the receipt though, it rang up one Glade as $3.79 and one as $1.00 so it technically was 2 for $4.79, but when I used the BOGO coupon, I was only credited $3.79 and had to pay $1.
