I had a horrible CVS trip tonight. My store has always been coupon friendly and super nice. This evening, when I go in, the cashier comes up to me and says "Before you start shopping, let me tell you about the new coupon rules". She said the store manager was in a meeting yesterday with the higher ups, and that he was told that if you use a $ off coupon, you can NOT use any other CVS coupon with it, not a CRT, not a skin care coupon, NOT EVEN ECB's!!!!!!!!! But you can use all the ECB's that you want as long as you don't have any other CVS coupons in the order. She also said that if I use a CVS printed coupon, they have to stick to the one per person rule now. This is so frustrating! I called CVS, and the Extra Care Rep said that he was aware that changes were coming, that in the near future he was told that the ECB's would even be limited to one per purchase!!!!! IF that happens, CVS will lose tons of business. It does not make sense to me! Does anyone else know what is going on? I had ECB's expiring, so I had to waste a bunch of them today on things that I usually do not pay much for! Sorry to rant. I hope to be able to get a better clarification from the store manager next time he is in.

Yeah, ours is cracking down also. They even have " limited " the rolls of paper, they put into the coupon printer. When its out, they are done til the following Thursday. I have ECB's but now I only buy what I need to get ECB's because they are getting so hard to spend, at least for a " deal "........

Hmm...I didn't have problem on Sunday. Though I haven't tried in the past few days to do any deals. But, I did notice on the $4/$20 that it said "Limit of one purchased-based savings coupon, i.e., $4.00 off $20 purchase, per transaction." So, you can't use (2) $4/20 if you purchase $40 worth of stuff. It didn't say anything about not using other CVS coupons or ECB. I would think if they were going to change it that drastically they would put it on the new coupons... But, who knows.... I'll let you know what happens this Sunday when I use the money off and ECBs in one deal. |

I am in ALABAMA. I hope the cashier has misunderstood the managers explanation. Hopefully atleast the ECB's will be able to be used with a $ off coupon! I can see limiting one CVS coupon per order ($ off, printable, or CRT) but ECB's are supposed to be money! Also, we get alot of CRT's for different items. If I want to buy two items that I have CRT's on, can I not buy them both in the same order? It really is not making sense to me at all! I am keeping my fingers crossed that better news comes soon! I could swear I JUST read, like maybe yesterday, in one of the threads here somewhere, about someone asking and getting an email back from CVS corporate,....... about how using an x/xx and another CVS coupon IS ALLOWED --- I believe a copy of the email from CVS was posted too --- I can't remember what thread it was in though..... ........ unless this is some new policy that Customer Service doesn't even know about yet?!?..... me thinks I might/could be a meeting during which coupon policy interpretation got a little carried away --- at least we can hope.....

I haven't had any problems this week-but rules can change daily. Can you check which ecb's your suppose to get thru their site when you login and then if you didn't get a certain one I would contact CVS hq's about it. Even if they don't put more paper in I would tell them I didn't get x ecb or I would just contact hq about them not issuing it.

Jeesh! I use a lot of Qs, so I hope this isn't the case.... and I invariably use more than one ECB during a single transaction... YIKES!

CVS has not "officially" changed thier coupon policy, so I am sure this is ymmv, Why don't you call the customer care # and ask if this is fact?

I think this is just the fallout of the vryl mrkt coupon debacle. Seems like every store has a memo with a list of new rules about IPs and other coupons that has been (or will be) issued. I think the best we can do is to show that the coupons we are using are certainly not fraudulent coupons. If push comes to shove, perhaps we can all e-mail CVS corp. with our extreme dissatisfaction of the clampdown of coupons. We can explain that we understand their need to verify that the IPs are real (which can be done at veri-fi.com for many coupons if the store managers are willing) but their rules to exclude many valid IPs (or even their own ECBs if that's the case) is just insane. CVS Corp needs to know that a large portion of their loyal customer base will sharply decrease their shopping (and $$$$ spending) with CVS if the coupon clampdown gets ridiculous. (For those who have not kept up with events, it appears that the vryl mrkt folks decided that it was in their best interest to inform stores that every vryl mrkt coupon redeemed was a possible fraudulent coupon (there is no way to differentiate between a coupon printed from the application and a fraudulently printed coupon from a pdf file) and that payment for fraudulent coupons would not be made. So, stores have become hypervigilant in coupon scrutiny. It truly is sad that this one company can crash and burn the IP coupon reputation in one short weekend. |

This is the e-mail I recieved from CVS regarding a manger questioning me on using a 2/10 and a $2 skincare in the same purchase.... This e-mail from CVS was dated 8/18/08. HTH Dear Ms. X, Thank you for contacting CVS/pharmacy. We are in receipt of your e-mail regarding coupon questions. Yes, you should have been allowed to use both coupons in this transaction. Your first coupon, the $2.00 off $10.00 coupon is an open ended coupon; you can use one of these per transaction. You can then use one manufacturer coupon and one CVS coupon per item after that. To clarify your question about skin car products, we consider those to be creams, lotions, facial scrubs, masks, basically any type of skin beauty product, we do not have a clear definition of what technically is a “skin beauty product.” This is left up to the manager on duty’s discretion. We appreciate the time you have taken to share your comments with us. Thank you for shopping with CVS/pharmacy, we look forward to your continued patronage. Sincerely, Nikki CVS/pharmacy Customer Relations 6023672 |

In my cvs today the cashier didn't allowed me to use crt and manufacturer coupon on one item. She said only one coupon per item. I didn't even used 2 off 10. Is cvs changed their coupon policy. Is it only one coupon per item.

I haven't had any problems using all my CVS Q's and manu Q's together ever. If CVS changes a policy it will be across the board in ALL CVS's, so I'm not sure what happened with this one.

I will try to do that but what I meant is the 3.00 went though no problem I also had a 5.99 one and it wouldn't go though no matter what she did she said she didn't even understand it.

| That's weird. Was your subtotal before tax at the time you tried the $5.99 ecb at least $5.99? If your subtotal before tax is less than the ecb you hand them, it will beep and they have to know how to adjust the value down or else you have to pick up something else. If that's not the issue, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe another gremlin we don't know about. LOL

yes it was above 5.99 I do think it was a gremlin I use 5/25 all the time and have never had this problem I figured like the other posters have been saying they are just changing the way we can use them (ecb) that was the first time I got those coupons mailed to me but if I cant use my ecb's with it I wont use it.

Have you used the 5/25 w/ ecbs bigger than $5 before? It really does seem like the 'gremlin' always likes to limit the amount of your ecbs to the smaller $ # in your $/$$ gremlin-coupon.... hehe.

This is not a new problem!!! I don't know why, but with the $3/$15 it sometimes makes the ECB's not work no matter what your total is. They have to rescan your card and then the ECB's should work!!! That happened to me a few months back when I had the $3/$15 and noone had a clue - not managers or cashiers - until I went to a different CVS and the Cashier just asked me for my card again and rescanned it. After that, every time I had a problem after using the 3/15 I just asked the cashier to scan my card before trying to put through each ECB's and it worked every time. HTH and hope it works this time too. I think these problems have been happening forever and because there are so many new people - these are all "new" problems. I won't believe that CVS is changing anything until they put out some sort of explanation about their "new" program or lack thereof!!! CVS would be silly not to let us use our coupons together as they are so overpriced that we would all go shop at Wags or RA instead!!
