Ok I am reading the specs and se that Bloom is owned by Food Lion. Is it the same? Or cheaper or more expensive? If it is the same why not call it food lion. Also can I use food lion coupons there?

It is owned by FL, but I think it is a step up. We have both FL & Bloom in our area. The only plus with Bloom is they send out 10/xx for 4-6 weeks in a row. They do not dbl Qs or accept competitor Qs. It is less thna a mile form my hosue so I stop there for milk or such, but do all my shopping at Publix which is only a little further, but cna save a lot more. I cn ause my Bloom x/xx at Publix!

| Info on Bloom
The nearest one to me is about 1.5 hr away. I have never been there, but this is what I know: It is in th Food Lion family of grocery stores. To my knowledge, they carry some of the same store brands (like on the go bistro) It is more expensive than Food Lion Supposed to be nicer (more high crust!) I think that they have started this chain to be more competitive with Farm Fresh. If you have a farm fresh than you know that in the past 2 years they have completely remodeled all of their stores. They look more like a Harris Teeter & have large organic sections & great produce. If you can get in touch with Flowergal, she has a bloom near her. But i haven't seen her here in awhile.

Bloom is owned by FL.and to tell u the truth.. its acuatlly not bad. especially when they run the 10/10 items!!! trust me, when i first moved to NC we went to bloom like evey week and they really had great deals. it's more of an upscale version of FL, but much muich cleaner, and well its nice. u do find some good deals. Another Bloom is coming here on the corner of Derita Rd next to Concord mills and the NEW LOWES HME IMPR!!! Check it out.. u might like it.

I think you can probably find much better deals at your Harris Teeter. if there is going to be one closer to you then you may want to utilize them for the on the go bistro & produce. It is a very nice, clean store. They have hard wood floors in ours! If one has popped up I gurantee more will in the near future. Within a year we had 4 built witin a 15 mile radius. They also do catalinas, but it seems that is only the case when you make a larger purchase. My mom gets them all the time, but I rarely do. By signing up for a crad it doesn't guarantee you will get the Qs. A fellow AFCer lives in the enxt town from me, got a Breeze card & never go the Qs. She called corp & it took a while, but she started getting them. I also shop at Bloom for meat. if you use a 10/xx it is a really goo deal. They ahve good beef & there bonesless chk is on sale at least once a month BOGO.

Thanks everyone. This new Bloom hasn't opened, hasn't even broke ground so it will probably be 6mo-1 year before it opens and it will be a good 30 min away (Food Lion is 2 min from my house as well as a ton others) so I probabaly won't be mking the trip unless a really great deal comes along but probably means more stores will be comeing to the area... |

I really like Bloom. The Foodlions we used to have around here were dreadful. The frozen items were always freezerburned and the store was dirty. They restructured all the FL's in my area into either Bloom or Bottom Dollar. BD is a cut rate grocery store. Seems like any FL that was in a stripmall with a pawn shop or Rent a Center turned into a Bottom Dollar. Good deals but not the best selection and no deli, butcher, baker etc. Oh yeah and you have to pay for bags for your groceries. Bloom on the other hand is great. Prices are competitive to Giant (main competitor in this area). Good selection, large assortment of organics, nice wine section. Very knowledgeable and well trained people in the Butcher/Seafood area. Good bakery, deli and prepared "food to go" area. They won my patronage when they started selling Green Mountain Coffee by the bag or the cup. (I got hooked on it in College). They run double or triple coupon events every few weeks, a lot of 10 for $10 sales and are currently running a promotion where for every $10 you spend you get a sticker. The stickers add up to discounts and free merchandise from a line of cookware they're carrying. Really nice looking pots and pans. The store I go to is also very child friendly. They've got the carts shaped like cars, the ones with a bolted on reclining seat for infants and kiosks set up around the store where your older kids can entertain themselves by playing a game with the touch screen. Of course the kiosks are also used to scan an items price, tell you where in the store an item is, give you recipes (they even print out) and cooking tips or access the shopping list you filled out online, in case you forgot yours at home. Yeah, I like this store. |

Oh yeah and they have added every item I've requested they carry to their inventory within a month of my requesting it. AND they run specials on deli items on a regular basis. Most weeks I can get either Ham or Turkey for $3.99/lb and (even if I'm the only one in the house who eats it) Liverwurst for $2.99/lb |

Bloom will accept FL Qs. As far as everyday prices, I think they tend to be a little higher, but the stores are really cool, they run good coupon deals from time to time (they tripled up to .99 this past weekend), they have little handheld scanners that you can carry with you to keep track of your spending, and they have all sorts of items that are hard to find in the average store. I will only go there when they are running a good coupon deal, or when I need a harder to find item, but it is really a cool store, and they tend to have a very friendly staff.
