| Kroger Change in Coupon Policy
Well I have considered Krogers Top Notch in this area for Grocery Shopping and Coupøns. I went to Kroger's and the Clerk says well we have a new coupon policy if the coupon beeps we cant use it. I am thinking OK.. Then she proceeds to tell me that I can only use two formula checks, Then she waits till the end for my B1G1 coupons and Totals each time and then takes of the coupon amount . I am wondering if any of you have had a similar thing happen? What is the benefit to Kroger's to total before each coupon. The only thing that I could fiqure is maybe taking them off that way did not reduce the amount of tax that I owed Help I am curious as to what the deal is |

I inquired about this at my Kroger and they have no idea what it is about. I would say that your store has decided to institute their own policy. Mine still took every q, typed in what didn't scan, and did not total each time just today.

Thank you. We have a lot of hard core couponers. LOL I think that it is just a here thing We have a new manager. He is rude. I wont let his attitude get to me. One cashier told me no one likes him and all the good help is leaving. Thanks |

That is a stupid "policy" since some of the coupons are going to beep even if they are legit- "free coupons" beep for a price, 992 coupons beep so they can check to see if you have the item, heck, even some of thier own coupons beep. Sounds like your store wants to be as difficult as possible. |

Right in our weekly paper, they put that you can only use 3 of the same coupons at a time. I haven't had any problems like yours. In fact, they ask me to take my free's out first so she can do those ones first without having to search back through the stuff to find the price.

The 3 coupons at a time for the same item is in effect here in Texas as well. I experienced that a few weeks ago. I had a couple of different transactions and they were okay with it.

I happened to be in Raleigh a few weeks ago and decided to do my Kroger freebie shopping. I was getting 8 Huggies wipes and 10 Grillmates. After the cashier had rung up my order I proceeded to hand him my coupons. As I was saying that I had 8 of the Huggies q's he told me that I could only use 3 of each, per the store policy. I apologized for my ignorance and asked him to void my order and that we would rering it 3 at a time. He told me he would let it go this time, but I told him I did not want him to break store policy for little ole me. He ended up insisting, so I paid my 66 tax and took my freebies! I think this cashier realized how silly that policy is. I don't get it bç you can check out multiple times so it really just creates more work for the cashier..

Luckily this is still a store by store issue!

It must be a store by store thing, my Kroger not only takes all of the coupons that I have but they have been taking my expired stuff as well. Even when the coupon makes the item free.

I'm in MI and all the stores in my area have the same policy. The policy actually states in the ad "3 manf. q's per LIKE item." and i have had to go to the manager a few times to have them clarify it w/ the cashier....3 like items....not 3 coupons. So for example...a few wks back Kelloggs had cereal for $2somethin....i think $2.30? Anyhow...i had (20)$1 q's that my store doubles....so it's $2 off and i paid .30 cents for a box of frosted flakes...fruit loops...frosted miniwheats...etc. But the issue was that i had to group them in groups of 3 like items and they'd double them all. Did i explain this ok? So if you would group them like....3 Huggies wipes (lavendar scent)....then 3 Huggies wipes (natural care)....and on w/ 3 like items they are suposed to do it. HTH! Happy Couponing!

I can't get over the fact that there are Krogers that double to $1 - ours here only doubles to .50, but fortunately there is no limit to the number of coupons or any other such limitations... I'd love to go shopping somewhere where they double to $1!!!

It is not a kroger, but there is a store that doubles up to .99 wishe they would add that extra penny, but then they would be doubling a lot more coupons. Mary |

the reason they total before doing the coupons is because....some things don't come up at the "Kroger Card" price until the end..and Kroger can only get back what the price is when you use it. like if something is normally $4 and the card price is $1.99... the cashier needs to write $1.99 not $4...and to verify that, sometimes they even have to print a receipt and type the price in for the b1g1...hope this helps!

The stores can make up their own coupon policies with Kroger. They have a general policy but I was told by CS that they reserve the right to limit the way they see fit. My store will only double/triple one like coupon (yes I do mean like coupon, not like item) and additionals will be redeemed at face value. However, there is atleast one cashier that thinks this means one like coupon period and will not take any more. I tried calling the manager but nobody picked up so I wrote to corporate and they restated the policy that was on the check writing stand but added that the cashier can limit however see fit. I really can't stand Kroger so they only get my business for items that I am getting free or SUPER cheap

Thanks for responding. The store manager told me that Kroger will only double one like coupon. I was a bit upset but did not know store policy so I did not make a big deal about the coupons I had in my hand. I am new to using coupons and learning the different stores. |

Yeah unfortunately they let the stores make their own tweaks to the policy. Some stores say 1, some say 3, and some say unlimited. I got "lucky" enough to get the store that does 1 LOL

I accidentally stepped into one of the stores that limited doubles to 2 coupons when I was on a shopping mission, LOL [our local store here in town and in the next over doubles unlimited amounts of the same coupons, though I try to not push the envelope]. I near had a heart attack when I saw my total - what should have been $5-6 ended up being nearly $40. Needless to say, even after talking with a manager about the # of coupons doubled there - I will not ever set foot into that store again!

kroger in some areas seem to be going downhill on their coupon policies. I refuse to go back to the one in my town. I'll go over to the one in the next town because at least I know what to expect when I walk in the door and try to use my coupons.
