they threw us out of cvs! uuugghhhh! I am so sick of the weather here! for the past few days we've been getting dumpted on with tons of rain ( from the midwest!) and have had flash flood warnings, tornado watches/warnings, t-storm warnings, etc etc etc.our local news stations are loving this. they interrupt everything to tell us about the thunderstorm that is coming. yes, they feel the need to interrupt daytime soaps to tell us it's going to rain. then they proceed to interview different people about how much it's raining at their house. it's getting ridiculous, to say the least. so today I drove to CVS in the rain. no biggie. I shopped for a few minutes (got a $10 ECB at the scanner!!) when the manager frantically ran around the store and told everybody to get in the basement. I don't even like my own basement, much less a basement at a store. everyone in the store refused to go down there. he insisted that we all had to until the tornado warning expired at 3. at this point, it was 2:45. the rain had even stopped at this point and the sun was out. he locked the doors so nobody else could go in/out. all of us in the store left. I know some people just went and sat in their cars until he unlocked the doors again. so I left my cart of stuff there and came home. by the time I got home (less than five minutes later) the warnings had been canceled early. soooo annoying! I'm going to hit the other cvs later this afternoon - I saw that the nasty shift mgr I don't really care for was working anyway. always some fun in cvs land!

I remember one year I was shopping in Walmart and there was a really bad thunderstorm going through. The power went out and they made every one leave (which I understand). They wouldn't let anyone even stay in the between the outside & inside doors until the rain cleared (which I wasn't thrilled about). I guess everyone is so lawsuit crazy they have to be super careful. Imagine if they didn't try to make you go in the basement, a tornado came through & killed everyone inside. CVS would be wrapped in lawsuits for years.

OMG! I would have been more afraid of going down into the basement than I would have been of the storm. Guess I have seen too many horror movies! LOL!!! Vickip

Wow! I know the last time the weather was bad, (it was hailing) and I happened to be at CVS, the young manager was like "uh, should I not let people leave or something?" The other clerks just shrugged, I waited it out because I didn't want to take my daughter out to get hailed on, but it was interesting... and on a side note, I used to work at a Snyders and our basement wasn't that bad. Actually, I loved it down there, they kept all the overstock there, so I always knew where the sale things were!!

As annoying as I'm sure it was, they probably have very strict rules that they have to follow in the event of dangerous weather, not to mantion other situations. I remember that at a store where I used to work (not CVS, but another retail store) we had detailed instructions of what to do and what to ask the customers to do in the event of a tornado warning or other dangerous situation. He was just trying to keep you safe so you would be healthy and able to come back and get more free stuff another day. ![]()

We make all customers leave our store if the power goes out for security and safety purposes. I think it's funny how oblivious the majority of people are to danger these days. We've had our fire alarm go off before and nobody flinches and keeps shopping. In the end, it's your choice if you go into the basement or not, but to me it'd be worth it to live another day in case there were some tornadoes in the area.

the storm had passed by the time he was trying to rush us into the basement. yes, he was doing his job. he was really weirding people out though. running around demanding that everyone head to the back of the store and get downstairs. he could have politely asked if we wanted to take cover or leave the store...at which point I would have opted to leave but at least not be so annoyed. JMO, of course.

I got to spend about 30 minutes in a grocery store basement last Tuesday night. I had no idea how large the basement was, and I drooled over the HUGE Hobart Mixer that they use to make the bread in the bakery! You could swim in the mixing bowl! LOL

The minute I heard "tornado warning" I would have been running him over with my cart to get to the basement first. I have a bit of a phobia.....not good here in WI!

I was in Topeka Ks the "Day The Sky Fell" I think it was 1972. that twister came over the old Indian Mound (one that the indians had said should never be leveled, but the city fathers needed property). It did millions of dollars of damage. I have always got to cover during a tornado alert after seeing straw driven into fence posts on the farm.

Scary stuff!!! Too bad there's no basements in Texas I'm kinda curious....

Wow..that would be very strange..I am sure that he was doing what he thought was the best, but sounds like he may have been confused himself. I think you just had the weather we just did. I too did not know that stores had basements...I guess they have to keep stock somewhere!

To all of you in the midwest that are having such incredibly awful weather, my heart goes out to you and I hope it passes soon. The bottom line is just be safe; be it a storm, tornado, flood or in my case hurricanes whatever is causing the concern find a safe place to wait it out. Vickip

Im sorry about all the weather problems ya are having , but when I read your title I thought --uh-oh what could she have done to get thrown out of the store. Was it just me? Glad you were all safe afterall.
