I think my love affair with CVS has come to an end.

I went today, after having taken a 3 week break (who says "absence makes the heart grow fonder" anyway?? ). I ended up getting a lot of freakin' toothpaste, some toothbrushes, some 3-day diet pills (huh??), Scott tissue, and Intuition. But I SPENT $27. <-- at myself.

Now, some might say "Well, it's your own fault. You didn't plan! You didn't even take your $/$$ coupons! What do you expect??" And you'd be right.

But you know, after spending more than an hour wandering the aisles, gently removing a few tearpad Qs for drinks I'll never buy, searching for the Elusive Hawaiian Tropic Lip Balm (and other good items not to be had) - I came to the realization that...

the spark is gone. I tried, I really really tried to get it back. But yeah... I'm pretty much done. ~SIGH~ It was good while it lasted - REALLY good, if you know what I mean - and I think you do.

I'm sorry, CVS - I'll be back when I get down to my last 24 rolls of Scott again (unless there's a better deal somewhere else - yes, I know that sounds cold and heartless, but it's just the sad truth). I might come back for a free razor - in about 3 years when I use up the ones I have already...

But for now, I must bid adieu. You have been kind to me, dear CVS. Lo, the many bottles of shampoo and conditioner and body wash do attest to this fact. You freshen my breath with every swig of free mouthwash, you anoint my body with free EOB lotions... but it is time to say Goodbye...






Oh wait, I have $10 ECBs left...

Perhaps some counseling with a trained CVS therapist is in order. I hate to see you and CVS split up. After all you've been through together...

Don't go. Think of CVS as a friend with benefits...You don't need it, but it's there if you "want" it.

I totally understand. The deals just don't seem to have the same oomph anymore....Just when you think you are over CVS...they will have a deal that you won't be able to keep yourself from and bam..you are back.

For what its worth, I feel the same way. Once I use all the items that I have, which may be YEARS, then and only then will I spend $3.75 on gas to go to CVS. Unless of course there is something FREE that I need.

I saw on the evening news today that food prices will increase for the next 3 years so my focus will now be mostly on food.

I think with deal hunting a store you need to know when it just isn't working! There are times I go into CVS and the clearance doesn't ring what I expect/want ~ ECB items are out of stock ~ I hunt and hunt to make an $XX purchase to save $X. And sometimes it just isn't working and you need to know when to say when! I will just leave ~ honestly cut my losses and head for the door! You can't fight the coupon karma. When it is good it is really good and when it is bad...head for the car!

I get my beverages, snacks, bread and milk there ~ I sent a bunch of toothbrushes into work with DH because I just could bare the thought of bringing another one home! But honestly, they are paying me $1 to bring each one home. So if I buy my 5 they are paying me $5 and any $X/$XX I have. Done in 2 transactions I get $11 in freebies so that is 5 12 pks of Coke!

Yes, I cheated on CVS last week as I was having a bit of a love affair with WG ~ but true love lasts and rekindles!

I keep coming back to CVS.
I tried Walgreens last week, and though it was fun, I only did one of those P & G deals. I won't be going back to Walgreens until the next great big deal.
I go to Target about once a week to get out of the house, but I am sick of the items ringing up at the wrong price, the inconsistent coupon policy, and some of the cashiers that work there.
I still go back to CVS. The cashiers are great. I get gift cards for transferring prescriptions. It is my favorite place.
