Grrrr...yesterday I met up with KCMom at CVS for some stellar clearance deals on storage bins. Well right after I checked out and was headed out the door I heard the manager ask the cashier what my name was...she said my full name off my ECB and he said oh it used to be XXXXXX. Same thing as last time...thinking my name ends with an S! Ok I think I know how to spell my name and it's really irritating me that they seem to think I've changed the name on my card or something. Plus the fact they were talking about me (not too me) but dang near right next to me. If I heard them say my name who else did? Sorry but I get paranoid about the weirdos out there. We no longer live in a trusting world and I don't like the way the store is tossing my name around. What would you guys/gals do? I already explained my concern last time to CVS corporate. Am I just paranoid or would this bother you too? Kathy suggested I go back in and call and see what's up as it obviously is bothering me. It's making me paranoid an not wanting to shop at that location.

Maybe they just think you're a good customer. I don't think I'd lose any sleep over it.

Regardless of what others think, if it bothers you, I think it should be brought up to corporate and/or manager. You are their valuable customer and they should listen to your consern. Making your shopping experiance pelasant should be their priority.

I personally prefer my cashier not say Thank you Ms. xxxx. when she hands me my receipt. I feel like they are being nosy.

I agree with angel. If it bothers you, then it's a problem. I would tell the manager to please not use your full name in front of other customers as it makes you uncomfortable. Tell him it's obvious that the employees know it, as it's on your card - but there's really NO need in him talking about you AT ALL. It kinda makes me think HE is some sort of creep that he's fixated on you like that.

I actually think it is a method of customer relationships that they are trying to give it a personal touch when they address you by your name. (Note: that is not the same as "talking about you.") It is done in banks, department stores, grocery stores, etc. Not all stores, of course, but many seem to be adopting this method of friendliness to give the image of a friendly, personal place you can shop - a store that "cares" about you as an individual. Some people like it and other don't. And true, today's society is not a place of trusted individuals much anymore. I would prefer they say, "Thank you for shopping with us" instead of "Thank you GG."

yeah I'm sure it is. If it was a friendlier cashier, I think I might feel friendlier about it, but this cashier never smiles.... she is kidna robotic..... (sorry girl..... ) She jsut looks at the receipt and just says it. It makes me feel like er.... okay, did you have to look at my name?

I don't feel like they are using my name positively though. Like a look at "XYZ" wow she got a good deal today. I feel like I'm on their watch list or something because I continually have low out of pockets. I don't do anything I shouldn't. I don't know if it's from back when they were allowing superstacking and I was just getting into CVS so I did superstack at that store or what. But it definitely makes me feel on edge and I'm just not sure how to approach it.

Personally the manager seems to be pointing you out. If it happens again I would turn around and say yes that is STILL my name and inquire as to why they have to check the receipt and point it out to the whole store. I would be highly irritated if this happened to me. HUGS

GG, I agree - except they usually don't say your full name.

Usually mine just say "Thank you, Mrs. Payne". That would irk me, too, if they were talking *about* me, not to me.

I think you should go online and change the name on your card before every trip. Ooooh, better yet. Find out the manager's name and change your card to HIS name. Oh, that might not go over so well. Hmmm... what about changing your card name to "Special Shopper" or "Dontcha Wannaknow" or "Guess Who" or... well, I could go on all day.

I'm highly considering changing back to the "Valued Customer" that comes on the new cards. Or what's that old cynical lady that is on the funny birthday cards...what's her name? LOL.

Really I would stop next time you are in the store in and ask the manger why she/he thinks your name is spelled wrong? When they act like they have no idea what you are talking about tell them about your last shopping trip and how it upset you..then change the name on your card.

i changed the name on mine to read "Valued Customer", and i'm just waaaaaaaaaaiting for one of them to say- "hey, you are not Valued Customer." i did it after i heard an asst. manager talking with employees out at the photo department, and mentioning me by name. she didn't know i was in the store. she was angry because i use a lot of coupons, which, since it makes everything free, means cvs is losing money, since everybody knows cvs can't just go around giving things away FREE. i have never been able to convince the management at that store that coupons are a GOOD thing. they just know that coupons are bad, people who use coupons are evil, and that's that. i now drive to another store.
