Ours in SW Chicago suburbs went after our grocery chain, Jewel, via ad. their point is moot with me, I've been boycotting WM since I was 12. (I'm going on 30 i don't find their prices to be that much better than anywhere else anyway.

The last time I was at Walmart, I stood in line for an hour at the checkout starting at 9:30.

I called the store twice while in line and first was told that they were between shifts and that as soon as the next shift was on they would all be at a register.

When the next shift came on at 10pm nothing changed no new register opened, just people switching so I called back the 2nd time to ask where the next shift was and the Shift Manager pretty much told us to deal with the situation.

I texted my sister as I was getting in line and when I was done I posted to Walmarts FB wall to let them know what just happened and it was exactly and hour at 10:30 and I was walking out of the store.

It was awful and haven't been back since.

Love it!...I have done that before too.
Called the store , so they would open up more registars.

It was awful and I wasn't trying just be difficult they have like 6 registers open 2 were self checkout and in each line there were about 20-30 people deep. I am not exaggerating with the lines. WM people kept getting mad because they were trying to close the self checkouts and people just kept moving the barriers to get in line since self checkouts were moving more like syrup unlike the checkouts with cashiers that were moving like molasses.

But back to the OP, I haven't seen the ads yet in my area but I know it wouldn't make me want to shop there anymore.

They tried these ads with Harris-Teeter here. I just laughed. Until they start doubling and occasionally tripling coupons, they're not even close. Even a local blogger took notice of the discrepency. Now I think they're trying to go after Food Lion. I'd still shop at Food Lion before Wal-mart.

Not far from you myself....when they started the HT ads, I sent Walmart a letter telling them if they wanted more business to give educated consumers a reason to shop there.....like tripling and doubling as well as having enough cashiers so its not 20-30 deep in every line - otherwise I could care less for their ad and was sick of seeing it after 2 times.

It's terrible that people wouldn't let the self checks close because that means the cashier running the computer probably got reprimanded if she was too far past her clock out time. They're sticklers about their workers never going into overtime. You can actually get fired for having overtime. Just in general - When you're in a long line & there's a shift change, don't get angry with the cashiers for leaving. Sure, you've been standing there for an hour, but they could have been there for well over 9 & are just about to get chewed out for not clocking out on time.

Our ads here in NM are going after Albertsons, so I guess each area is different! There was even a full page ad in the local paper showing the customers receipt for what they paid at Albertsons and what they could of paid at WalMart. She saved $40.00 according to the receipt.

Our Walmart stores around here are not very coupon friendly at all so I rarely buy or even go to Walmart for anything at all and I don't use coupons there no more either

Yeah, I constantly hear radio ads asking people in Dallas to take in their Walgreens receipts to compare their prices to Walmart's everyday low price. If I didn't know it would be a total waste of my time, I'd be tempted to take in my 9 receipts from this Sunday showing the $0.86 I paid for 5 Brainstrong, 4 Fish Oils, 5 cans of Lysol, 6 packs of paper plates, 2 Lansoprazole, 2 Goody hairbands, 12 Sobe LifeWaters, 12 jellos, 1 Mondo juice, 1 2L Hawaiian Punch, and 2 Starbucks Refreshers.

They took out a full page ad in the area newspaper to show a "customer" that paid $201.69 for 34 items and then paid $251.85 for the same 34 items at Winn Dixie.

Still rather shop at Winn Dixie, especially since I normally take advantage of their sales and BOGO and spend far less there than I do at Wal Mart when I shop there.

Ditto!! I will ONLY shop at Walmart if there is a moneymaker. It's just not worth the hassle unless I can make a decent bit of money there. I have 2-3 good Walgreens and CVS stores I shop at regularly and anything I need not on sale or whatever I get at Target because their prices are within 0.20 of walmart if not cheaper and my 5% redcard difference more than makes up for that!

Our ad shows Walmart going after Price Chopper in Raymore Missouri which is literally a few miles from me and about 20 mins. from Kansas City.
